Kissing In Cars.

When I sleep I dream about the future and how my life is already planned out in my head. It’s been two weeks since Alex popped the question. After that night me and Alex have been inseparable, our passion grew stronger and stronger everyday that we wake up next to each other.

I felt my eyes pop open when I heard my bedroom door slam shut. I removed my sleeping mask off my eyes and saw Jack crouching on the side of the bed with a Nerf water gun in his hands.

“What are you doing?” I said snapping at him as he jumped at the sound of my voice. He smiled and waved at me. I gave him my why the fuck did you just wake me up face.

“Alex and Zack were chasing me with these water guns some fans gave us at the show from last night, loser has to do Rian’s laundry for week” He whispered still crouching next to the bed. I was too tired to wonder why they were fighting over Rian’s laundry considering he lived with his girlfriend in California.

“And you decided to run in here and disrupt my beauty sleep over laundry?” I said leaning towards the side of my bed where Jack was squatting down on the floor.

“Alex said the bedroom was off limits because you were sleeping.” He said smiling at me; I looked at him not smiling. I’m dealing with a bunch of big ass man kids.

“Alex!” I screamed as Jack jumped up and covered my mouth and I hit him with a pillow, I heard Alex’s footsteps hurry down the hallway and swung open the door.

“Jack! I said the bedroom was off limits.” He said squirting him with the squirt gun as Jack jumped onto the bed and rolled off and made his way out the door while getting hit with water by Alex. Alex put the squirt gun down by the door and came over to me sitting down on my side of the bed and kissed my forehead.

“Good morning babe, I’m sorry about the noise, I told Jack not to come in here.” I shook my head and fell back into the bed pulling Alex with me.

“It’s okay, I’m still trying to wrap my head around why you guys are fighting over Rian’s laundry” I said as Alex rested his head on my chest. He snapped his head back up looking at me as I looked at him with confusion.

“About that, get up and get dressed I’m taking your beautiful self to lunch.” He said kissing my forehead and getting off the bed as I sat up and watched him grab the water gun again.

“Lunch? What time is it?” I said looking for my phone that was sitting on my night stand. My phone read 12:30 as my eyes widened. I must have slept in due to me and Alex being up all night, me looking through wedding magazines and him catching up on Orange is the New Black.

“No more wedding planning before bed for you.” Alex laughed and came back over to the bed kissing me on the lips. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some asses to kick.” He said cocking his water gun and running out of the room. I grabbed my phone seeing Liv texted me our usual Good Morning text, I texted her back and headed to my closet to find something to throw on and head to the shower. After getting ready and throwing my hair in a half bun letting my hair fall down my shoulders. I unplugged my phone from the night stand and went down the hallway and into the living room seeing no sign of Zack, Jack, or Alex. Baz and Peyton were barking their heads off outside in the backyard as I saw the guys spraying each other like maniacs. Our neighbors must love the noise. I stepped out the French doors leading to our little patio. The guys started running towards me water guns blazing.

“If any of you dare to fucking spray me, I will fucking rage hell.” I said as they all halted and refrained from shooting me. Alex put his water gun down and picked me up planting the most perfect kiss on my lips. I smiled into the kiss, as he put me down.

“Get a room!” Jack yelled as I grabbed Alex water gun and sprayed him right in the face. Alex high fived me as Zack laughed and Jack retaliated and got Zack in the face.

“Now that you got that out of your system, I’m ready to go.” I said walking back into the house grabbing my purse off the hook we have in the living room. Alex came back in unplugging his phone from the charger he had sitting on the kitchen counter. He went to grab his keys but I snatched them before he could put his hands on them.

“I’ll drive!” I said excited to drive Alex’s brand new Bentley. This car was his baby and I was only allowed to drive it if I took an oath when Alex bought it. I solemnly swear to never take Brenda the Bentley for granted and respect her and to only ride with the top down when it’s not too hot and sunny otherwise the leather seats will be exposed to heat which Brenda does not like. Alex has issues.

“Juliet, be careful with my baby, she’s still in prime condition” Alex said following me outside as I unlocked the car.

“Can we put the top down?” I begged, batting my eyes at him, he looked at me and it felt like forever until he finally gave in and I squealed jumping into the driver seat and starting the bad baby up. Hearing the engine roar was making me more excited to get this car on the road. The top was down and I was ready to go.
Alex came out of the house with a new change of clothes.

“Guys make sure you don’t trash the house and lock the door on your way out.” He said coming down the stairs and getting in the car. He smiled over at me as I turned the radio on; Chocolate by The 1975 came through the speakers as I pulled out of the driveway. The tires screeched a little as Alex looked at me with a stern look.

“Juliet..” He said as I put my hand on his thigh, turning my head towards him.

“Alex, babe relax Brenda will be fine. “ I said as we took off towards uptown Baltimore. Alex and me loved living in Baltimore, we discussed packing up and moving to California like Rian and Zack but we just loved having all four seasons and being able to see Alex’s family and Jack. Zack was always in Baltimore anyways due to his girls living here. We drove passed all our favorite bars and lunch spots and our favorite little hole in the wall diner on the infamous Thames Street. That’s where Alex asked me to move in with him after high school. We pulled up to Panera as I turned off the radio and we both climbed out of the car. Alex came around the car and planted a big kiss on my lips pulling me into him, he heated up the kiss by parting my lips with his tongue. I could feel my face heat up as we were practically making out in the middle of the street.

“Have I told you that you look sexy driving my car?” He asked as I looked at him raising my eyebrow. I could feel everyone eyes from the street and the outdoor seating area gawking at us as we practically ate each other’s faces off.

“I don’t think you have considering, I’ve never drove her before.” I said as he sucked his teeth at me and taking the keys from my hand and smacking my butt as he walked by me. I turned around and looked at him in shock and crossed my arms over my chest.

“Babe I love you but Brenda can only be handled by a gentle driver and you drive a Jeep on a daily basis so you might not be the right person for Brenda.” He said as I scoffed at him and we walked into Panera, Alex held the door open for me and gave my ass another slap before we walked up to the register. I put my hands in Alex’s as I whispered my order to him so he could put it in for us as I found us a seat. I decided with sitting outside since it was really nice outside. I sat outside at our table pulling my phone out of my pocket and texting Liv to see how her night went last night, a couple minutes later Alex came over with my salad and his sandwich, he placed my green tea in front of me and he sat down and we went to town on this food. Alex stole bites of my salad as I stole a bite of his sandwich. We laughed and talked about nonsense until I remembered the main reason we were out to lunch.

“Spill the beans, why are we here?” I asked wiping my mouth with a napkin and finishing the last of my green tea. Alex looked away from his phone that he was playing with and put it down on the table and resting his hands behind his head and leaning back in his chair.

“I’m going on tour.” He said very bluntly. Straight to the point, I mean I should be used to those four words by now since this isn’t my first rodeo.

“How long will you be gone for this time?” I asked as he took my hands in his and kissed them, him being all lovey dovey was a sign that this was going to be long tour. I pulled my hands away running them through my hair. Alex sighed knowing I wasn’t thrilled being home alone for long periods of time sucked and Alex knew it drove me crazy.

“Three months.” He trailed off as I sighed leaning back in my chair. I know I sound like a baby because my boyfriend is going to be gone for three month but being away from Alex was hard for me especially since I was going to be planning our wedding without him.

“Alex this fucking sucks I’ll be planning our wedding all by myself.” I said as I got up and threw my trash into the barrel and made my way to the car. Alex unlocked the car as I sat in the car, Alex got in the driver seat and started up the car as we headed home.

The whole car ride home was silent, I felt Alex put his hand on my thigh and I tried not to let my ten year old stubborn side come out I tried not to slap Alex’s hand off my thigh, I was pissed. Alex just got back from a mini tour now he’s going on a three month tour.
We pulled up to our house and I climbed out of the car pissed beyond belief, I grabbed my keys out of my purse and threw my purse on the couch and plopped down next to it turning on the TV. Alex followed in after me throwing the mail on coffee table and going into his office. Alex came back out sitting down next to me, he didn’t say anything to me, we sat in silence and I just waited for Alex to say something. He got up and grabbed the dog leashes and held out one to me, I looked at him and took it from him and he grabbed my keys and we took the dogs to our favorite spot.

Alex and I always had our favorite spots around Baltimore, the lake was our most favorite but besides that we loved our small little diner in on Thames Street, another was Hilltop. In high school I was grounded for skipping school with Alex and the guys to the beach. My dad wasn’t happy considering I missed a big test and he was upset Alex talked me into it, my dad liked Alex he just didn’t like that we always tend to skip school or I would always be in detention due to me and Alex skipping. Alex snuck me out to take me to his “thinking spot” as he liked to call it. We drove up a hill that overlooked all of Baltimore and we just sat and
enjoyed each other’s company for hours.

This time around me and Alex walked up the hill we both didn’t exchange a word the whole way up, when we finally got to the top it was the perfect view. The sun was starting to set going from blue to purple to this beautiful orange and I gasped at the sight it was so beautiful. Alex sat down on a rock overlooking Baltimore the same rock we sat on in high school. I sat down next to him both the dogs panting and laying at our feet. Alex looked out at the city we both grew to love so much even though both of us came from two different worlds. The whole walk up I thought about Alex and touring and how much he loved his band and his music and I thought about how much I loved him for chasing his dreams and finally being where he worked so hard for, I also thought what kind of wife I would be if I didn’t support him and all he does. Alex being away for three months killed me but what would kill me more is him thinking I didn’t support his dreams.

“You promise you’ll call every night?” I finally broke our silence, his head snapped at me scared I finally spoke up. He took my hand in his as I looked down towards our hands then back at him he gave me a small smile.

“I will call every night, morning and Facetime every chance I get.” He said bringing my hands to his lips. I closed my eyes trying not to let the tears fall from my eyes, seeing him go always hurt me so bad.

“Then let’s go home and I’ll help you pack.” I said as I stood up and held out my hand to him. He took my hand and pulled me into a kiss and I melted a little into his arms. We headed back down to the hill to go home and enjoy our last night together for awhile.

I woke up before Alex to look over and see him still sleeping, our clothes were scattered around the room from the night before. Making love to Alex only felt right since he was leaving for a long tour and I wouldn’t be able to see him or even touch him, I got up and grabbed my silk robe off the back of the bedroom door and headed into the kitchen to make coffee. I poured myself some coffee and let the dogs out into the backyard. I watched them chase each other around the yard barking and just enjoying the morning sunshine. I pulled my phone out of my robe pocket and scrolled through my call log and pressed Liv’s number.

“Can I help you?” Liv’s sleepy voice rang through the phone. I smiled knowing I finally got my chance at revenge since Liv is always waking me up early in the morning.

“Olivia, good morning.” I said in a rather cheery voice, I heard her scoff and muffle some sort of cuss word.

“Jules this better be fucking good.” She said as I sighed. I haven’t talked to Liv in days since I’ve been wrapped up in me and Alex’s engagement and now him returning to tour. I haven’t been able to keep her updated on things.

“Alex leaves for a three month long tour in t-minus three hours.” I said as she yawned into my ear.

“What? How is this ass hat going to propose to you and then bam he’s on tour for three months good fucking job Gaskarth.” Liv and Alex were friends since he moved to Baltimore she was his neighbor growing up and they had this brother sister relationship and if it wasn’t for her Alex would of never asked me out.

“It’s their head lining tour they’re going with Sleeping with Sirens and The Maine.” I said as I remember Alex telling me last night while we packed his stuff up.

“Fuck Jules, I’m sorry. Look on the bright side, more girl’s nights and dirty martinis while Alex is gone.” She said trying to brighten my spirits. I laughed thinking of all the dirty martinis me and Liv can put away.

“Did he ask you to go with him?” Liv asked, I thought to myself all the tours Alex has been on I’ve never once gone with him, I was always working so I never asked him if I could go. Alex wasn’t one to rip me from my comfort zone to live on the road with him and the guys.

“Liv, I work. I can’t leave for three months.” I said as I heard Alex messing around with cups in the kitchen and pouring himself a coffee. “Listen Alex is up let me call you back.” I said as we hung up. Alex came out the French doors and sat down next to me at our patio table.

“Good morning handsome.” I said as he sipped his coffee, he smiled at me and leaned over the table and kissed my head. Baz and Peyton ran over to Alex showering him with love he pet them and scratched behind their ears as Peyton gave him his favorite chew toy and Alex chucked it across the yard as they both went barreling after it.

“I’m going to miss you so much.” I said grabbing his hand, he squeezed mine and looked into my eyes. My heart fluttered a little bit. Any look, touch, word Alex said made my heart skip beats.

“I’m going to miss you Jules, I wish you could come with me. “ He said as my head perked up a bit. I was a little shocked since Alex never really ever asked I just always stuck around at home because tour was work for Alex. I would fly out for some shows on nights that Alex needed the support or the distance was too much but never have I went on a full three month tour.

“I would babe but you know work would die without me.” I said as he laughed. We enjoyed the rest of our morning drinking coffee, watching Baz and Peyton fight over the little raggedy chew toy, and snuggling on the couch catching up with Orange is the New Black.

It rolled around the time for Alex to pack up the taxi he was taking and head to the airport. I helped Alex put his last suitcase in the taxi and our eyes met, I tried to contain my tears but I couldn’t as Alex pulled me into his chest I cried and smelled his cologne, this smell I was going to miss so much, It was the most comforting warming smell to ever grace my nose, hugging him felt like home. He pulled me in for one last kiss, the kiss lasted for awhile until I pulled away.

“I don’t want you to miss your flight, call me when you land.” I said as he hugged me on more time and kissed my forehead.

“I will Jules, I love you.” Alex said opening up the taxi door and climbing in rolling down the window as I stuck my face in the window and gave him one last kiss.

“I love you Alex.” I said as I backed away from the taxi and Alex gave me one last wave as the taxi pulled away from the street and took off down the street.
