Million Reasons

Prologue II

Four months ago
Alex

Alex and Olivia have been dating for six years give or take a few months where they weren’t together. Alex and the guys touring has definitely taken a toll on their relationship, resulting in a lot of fights. However despite all that, they’ve powered through. At least they have until now.

Alex was taking Olivia out on a date. Well, to be more accurate he was taking her out to talk in a public place where there were witnesses, because he knows how Olivia tends to overreact(hence why he decided to take her out at 3 pm). Alex loves Olivia, there’s no doubt about that, but he’s sick of the constant fighting every time he leaves for tour. He’s tried talking to her about this, but she doesn’t understand that it’s his job and the guys depend on him to be there for every show. Despite the fact that he loves her and despite how much it hurts him to have to do so, Alex has decided to break up with her.

Alex was in the living room of their shared apartment waiting for Olivia to finish getting ready. All she had left to do was brush her hair, brush her teeth, and put lipstick on. Alex was taking her to a coffee shop to break the news. He was leaving for another tour in a few days and he wanted to do it before he left so it wouldn’t eat away at him for the next few months.

After roughly ten minutes, Olivia exited the bathroom and walked over to where Alex was sitting on the couch, deep in thought.

“You okay babe?” Olivia asked him.

“Yeah, I’m good. Just thinking. You ready to go?” He replied.

“Yeah, let’s go.”

The entire walk there Alex was repeating what he wanted to say in his head. He wanted to get the point across with no misunderstanding, but he also didn’t want to seem like a dick and be too blunt.

When they got to the caféAlex got in line to order their drinks while Olivia sat down at a table in the middle of the restaurant, like Alex had hoped she would. He got their drinks and sat down across from her.

“Liv, we need to talk.” Alex spoke after a few minutes of silently sipping their coffees.

“Uh oh. Judging by the tone of voice this can’t be good.” Olivia replied.

“I think we should break up. I’m not going to use cliche lines, I’m just going to be honest. We’ve been together for a long time. Broken up and got back together, and over time I’ve discovered a sort of emptiness that wasn’t there before. I’ve fallen out of love with you, however I do still care about you deeply.”

“Wow. That’s, just, wow. Um, well I understand. Like you said we’ve been together for a long time off and on. I suppose it was never going to work out, was it?”

“I don’t believe so. We just weren’t meant to be. I’ll pack my stuff and be moved out before tour starts. Friends?”

“Friends.”

They finished their coffees and ventured back to the apartment where Alex began packing his stuff, with some help from Olivia.

By the end of the day most of his stuff was packed and in Alex’s car. They agreed for Alex to come by tomorrow to get the rest, and Alex drove off to Jack’s where he knew he had a spare room.

Alex walked up the stairs to Jack’s apartment and knocked on the door. He waited for around five minutes and nobody answered. Alex had a spare key, though, because Jack tended to forget his whenever they went out together. He unlocked the door, went inside the house, and raided the kitchen while he waited for his best friend to come home.

Fast forward to three hours later Alex was asleep on the couch with reruns of Full House playing as Jack entered his apartment wanting to sit down and watch an episode of Game of Thrones that he missed. He was shocked, to say the least, when he saw Alex on the couch.

“Alex,” He said softly as he shook him awake. Alex groaned in return, “Alex, wake up bro.”

“What time is it?” Alex said groggily as he wiped the sleep from his eyes.

“It’s 6pm. What time did you get here?”

“3. Liv and I broke up. It was a mutual decision, and it’s for good this time.”

“Shit dude. Is that why you have so many boxes in your car?”

“Yeah. The lease is in her name since she was there more than I was. I figured it was easiest for the both of us if I was the one that moved out.”

“Do you need a place to stay? At least while you look for your own apartment?”

“Yeah. I also need to get wasted. This breakup may have been mutual but it still fucking sucks.”

“I bet. I’ve got a few more errands to run. Why don’t you unpack and I’ll call the guys, then we can all meet at the club.”

“Sounds good to me.”

Alex spent the rest of his day carrying boxes from his car to Jack’s apartment and unpacking while Jack was off doing god knows what. Jack did end up calling Zack and Rian and met Alex at the bar. Rian made the decision to be the designated driver; however, Alex didn’t really need one.

Alex quickly and easily got utterly and completely shitfaced. It seemed like it was exactly what he needed, at least on the surface. Especially when he left the club and headed to a brunette’s apartment whose name he would soon forget. The guys figured a one night stand would help him forget about Olivia. Alex on the other hand was just trying to fill the emptiness he felt inside his chest.

Alex went to club after club and slept with girl after girl. He became the band fuckboy, a title previously held by Jack. As much as Alex hates to think and admit it he still loves Olivia with all his heart. He’s looking for a girl that can fill the void she left, but can’t remember their names long enough for them to do that.

Notes

Going to school and having a job is so much fun. You have so much time to do shit.
*note the obvious sarcasm*

Anyway here's a new chapter and I'll try to get another one up relatively soon so you're not waiting another 6 months

Hey girl, I'm still here reading. :)
Great job with the new updating! Again, took me a bit to lead feedback, as was the theme with my last comment, lol. Whoops. I've just been a bit busy and stressed lately as well. Sorry about that.
But yeah, so that means I appreciate the fact you're not updating every single there, since it's a bit hard for me to keep up myself. XD
Hmm... seems like Alex and Veronica are on the same path then. Wonder when/how they'll meet?
Interested in seeing where this goes. :)

Hey girl heyyy!! :D I'm here, I'm here!
Sorry for the delay in leaving feedback. Had a bit of a hectic week, but finally had some time to get on, and got your message, so I checked this out!
I'm interested in seeing where this idea goes. Sounds interesting and bound to be full of some drama. That first update alone... :O So much went down.
I'll be here to read. Apologies if it takes me a minute again to leave feedback, but know that I'm here for sure. :)
Can't wait to see what all you have in store for this! And thanks for the shout-out on the first update; means a lot, and it's really no problem with leaving feedback. :)
