Alex's POV

"This night is seriously dragging." I said to Felix who chuckled.
"Is that because your missing lover boy?" Felix asked.
"No." I said and looked down.
"Yeah you are, is Jasey with Jack? Because she wasn't home when I left for work." Felix said.
"No I'm not missing him. Yeah Jasey and Jack are round mine, hopefully not trashing the place." I said and Felix chuckled.
"It will probably be Jasey doing the trashing since Jack can't see." Felix said.
"Jack might not be able to see but he can create a lot of trouble if he knows his way around the place." I said and Felix rolled his eyes.
"Alex can you go bed 13 and sort the gentlemen there out for me." The team leader on shift said and I nodded and looked at Felix.
"See you around bro." Felix said as I went to look at this patient.

"Hello, I'm Alex and I'm the nurse who is going to be treating you tonight." I said as I put my gloves on and looked at the person and saw it was my younger brother Josh and mam.
"Mam what you doing here and what the hell have you been doing Joshua." I said and looked at both of them, Josh was looking down while mam was looking worried like she always does when me or any of my siblings are in hospital.
"Someone decided that it was a good idea to get into a fight with someone and when they came home decided to punch the mirror in the hallway." Mam said and I looked at Josh who's hand was cut and had glass inside it.
"Josh look at me." I said and Josh looked at me and his had a cut on his cheek and on his eyebrow.
"Jesus Josh." I said and looked at mam.
"Mam why don't you go and get yourself and Josh something to eat and drink while I sort him out." I said and got the stuff I needed and looked at mam who looked worried at me.
"Mam, he's in the best place and I won't leave him and Felix is working tonight as well so if I have to go." I said and mam looked at Josh.
"I'll be right back okay, Alex will look after you." Mam said and kissed the top of Josh's head and walked off and I sat on the side of the bed.

"Is she always like that? Because she's annoying the fuck out of me." Josh said and I couldn't help but chuckle as I looked at Josh's hand.
"This is going to hurt okay, I need to get the glass out of your hand. But mam is normally like this, it's annoying at first but once you have a few breakdowns and end up in hospital she's good to have around." I said and Josh looked down and pulled a face.
"Sorry buddy." I said quietly.
"What happened Josh? You was doing so well with controlling your anger, keeping yourself to yourself and you was making friends." I said.
"People was saying stuff about me." Josh said quietly and I pulled a big bit of glass out of his hand.
"Shit Josh, you put a lot of force into punching the mirror." I said and checked if there was anymore glass in his which there wasn't so I cleaned the wound and started to dress his hand.
"I did punch the mirror a bit harder than what I intended but it's so frustrating being like this. I don't like it Lex, I want to be normal. I don't want to have ODD or ADHD and anger problems. I want to be normal and have friends." Josh said and he had a couple of tears roll down his face.
I moved up the bed and pulled Josh into a hug, which was probably breaking protocol but I didn't care right now, my brother needed me.
"I know how you feel on this Josh, but you don't let your problems get in the way. And you don't listen to what people say about you, you are unique for a reason Josh. Don't let what people say don't you get in the way of you getting your anger under control." I said and Josh pulled back and smiled.
"But seriously, who the fuck decked you? Going to be having serious words with the little bastard." I said and Josh chuckled.
"The little prick called Jason." Josh said as I looked at his cut on his eyebrow.
"Did you get any punches into the little shit?" I asked.
"Yeah, got more punches in than him. But mam and pops have to go to the school tomorrow and talk to the head about my behavior." Josh said.
"Ohhh Josh is in the shitter." I chuckled and glued his eyebrow shut.
Mam came back and looked at what I did.
"His eyebrow wound wasn't deep enough for me to stitch so I glued it and his hand just needed the glass removed and cleaned and bandaged. I just need sign some papers and then you guys are free to go." I said as I tidied up and threw the stuff in the bed and got rid of my gloves and washed my hands.
"I'll be back just sit tight and don't go terrorize the people next to you." I said and walked off.

"Hey Lex, is mam and Josh here?" Felix asked as I wrote Josh's notes up.
"Yeah, Josh got into a fight and he punched the mirror at mams." I said.
"Seriously? Is he okay?" Felix asked.
"Yeah he's fine, just cut his hand to bits but not stitches or glue and he had a cut on his cheek which didn't need attending to and then a busted eyebrow which needed glue as it wasn't deep enough for stitches." I said and looked at the time.
"Ugh, I need a coffee and a cigarette and raid the biscuit tin or even better order a pizza." I said and Felix chuckled shaking his head.
I finished filling out Josh's discharge papers and gave them to mam and Josh and they went home as I went to help sort someone else out.


When I got home it was 8 in the morning and Jasey was up and walking round the apartment.
"Hey Jase, how was last night." I said and smiled when Jasey handed me a tea.
"It was okay, Jack didn't fall asleep until the early hours of this morning if not later but I don't know because I fell asleep at like 2 this morning leaving Jack binge watching something on Netflix." Jasey said and I smiled.
"Thanks for looking after him." I said and Jasey smiled and joined me on the sofa as we both nursed our teas and watched the morning news.
"Josh and mam was in the hospital last night." I said and Jasey looked at me.
"Why? Don't say someone beat Joshie up because the poor little bastard doesn't need that right now." Jasey said and I just nodded me head.
"When you go home the hallway has no mirror as Josh literally punched the mirror as hard as he could because he was so frustrated." I said and Jasey sighed and shook her head.
"Those kids at that school are bastards and the teacher aren't helping him. I've said to mam she's better of moving Josh away from that school because it's not helping him." Jasey said and I just shrugged my shoulders.
"Way too tired to even be thinking about it." I said and got up.
"I'm off to school, Jack is still flat out in your bed so he's not going to school." Jasey said and I smiled.
"Thanks Jase." I said and Jasey picked her bag up.
"It's fine Lex." Jasey said and she walked out the flat and I locked the door behind her and crawled into bed.
"Is that you Lex?" Jack asked sleepily as I striped to my pants.
"Yeah it's me, I'm just going to have a shower and then I'll be in bed." I said and Jack just nodded and he was flat out asleep again which made me chuckle.
After my shower I put on some pants and a crawled into bed and Jack just cuddled into my side and I just fell asleep without even turning the tv on.
