Night Drives

Alex's Pov

It was my first day back at school after my meltdown 5 months ago and I wasn't looking forward to it.
"You looking forward to go back to school?" Mum asked as I walked in the kitchen which was complete madness, madness was actually a understatement but I've missed it.
"Not really." I said as I went to the medication cupboard which was locked which was a first since it was out of reach of the little ones.
"The cupboard is locked. It's never been locked before." I said and looked at mum.
Mum has a hint of sadness in her eyes.
"After what happened we had no choice but to lock it. It's for your own safety please don't think we're doing this because we don't trust you because we do, we just need to be more careful." Mum said and I sighed and looked down.
"Like I'm going to overdose on Ethan medication, he fucking needs his meds more than me." I said and walked off.
"Alex! Alexander." Mum said after me but I ignored her and headed to my car.
Mum caught up with me and slammed my car door shut so she had my full attention.
"You going to stop me driving now?" I asked sarcastically.
"No Alex, you need to understand that we are doing these things to protect you." Mum said softly.
"You know, if I can't get to one thing then I'll find other ways to hurt myself. You know this mum and yet you still fucking treat me like I'm 5. I'm not a fucking baby anymore. I'm 19 years old with mental illness and you're treating me as if I'm in cotton wool. I've already tried to kill myself once, what's going to stop me now? Now get out of my way so I can go to school and be fucking normal for once." I said seriously.
Mum looked at me shocked of my outburst because I'm normally not like this.
"I just want you to be safe, I can't face nearly losing or losing any of my children. I love you all to bits, losing one of you would break my heart." Mum said.
"Then you can make another baby and fucking replace me." I snapped.
"Alex that's not true and you know that!" Mum said seriously.
"Whatever, I'm going to school." I said and opened my door and mum didn't stop me this time and I went to school.

"Hey Alex, I've missed seeing your face around here." One of the people I hang around with said and pulled me into a hug which is returned.
"I missed you too Ollie." I said.
"Anyway, you have 5 months worth of gossip to catch up with." Ollie said and I couldn't help but chuckle as it felt like I haven't been away.
"So you know Rian was chatting that girl up before your epic breakdown?" Ollie asked and I nodded.
"Well their now together ." Ollie said.
"That shit bag, he was fucking round mine last night and he never told me that bit of very important information." I said and Ollie chuckled and we got to the people I hung around with.
After catching up a teacher came over.
"Alex, can you come with me please?" They said and I nodded and followed the teacher.

"Welcome back Alex, I hope it hasn't been too stressful for you so far." The teacher, which happened to be the head, said.
"So far it's been okay, just catching up with friends really. The stressful part will be in classes trying to catch up with what I missed." I said and the head smiled and nodded.
"I understand, I've told the teachers to take it easy on you while you settle back in to being back here." The head said and I smiled.
"That's much appreciated." I said quietly.
"I know it's probably not the best time to do this since your starting back again, but we have a new student starting today. I would like you be show him round and be a friend to him and hopefully have him with your group of friends since they can't all be bad." The head said and I couldn't help but chuckle.
"Yeah I don't mind, will make me feel less like a tit for not knowing stuff." I said and the head smiled.
"Okay, if you wait at the office and I'll greet the boy and then he'll be all yours." The head said and I just nodded and got up.
"If you feel like everything is getting to much Alex don't be afraid to say so. I will try my very best to help you." The head said.
"Thank you, I'll remember that." I said and walked out the office and went to wait in the reception.

I waited for about 15 minutes before the head and this boy came into the reception.
"Alex I would like you too me Jack. Jack this is Alex." The head said and I stood up and walked towards them.
"Jack, Alex is going to be showing you round the school and is also going to be a friend if you need one." The head said and Jack looked at me and straight away I fell in love with his eyes.
"Hey." I said and Jack smiled and looked down.
"Alex I take it you'll take good care of Jack." The head said and I nodded.
"Sure, come on let's go a see the school." I said and Jack nodded.
"If there's any trouble you two know where to find me." The head said and me and Jack walked out the reception.

"So, why did you move here?" I asked and Jack looked down and didn't say anything.
"I get starting a new school is scary, even coming back to the school after 5 months off is scary. So your in good hands okay." I said and Jack looked at me.
"You haven't been at school for 5 months? Why?" Jack asked.
"Having a meltdown in the middle of the school isn't the best idea in the whole world." I said and Jack chuckled softly.
"So, me and you are both playing catch up with the school work." I said and Jack sighed and looked down.
"It'll be fine. Me and my friends will look after you and fill you in with the details about the school. Who's a good fuck, who's not. Where you can buy drugs from. All that stuff. I'll say this now though, my friend Ollie is the nicest guy going but he's the most respected guy in this school. He wouldn't think twice on beating the shit out of you and putting you in hospital. But he's a lovely guy, also good in bed as well, well that's what my drunken brain remembers anyway. I can point you out to the good looking girls if your straight and the same for guys if your gay like me." I said and Jack looked at me.
"Your very open about being gay." Jack said quietly.
"Hey, of the bitches don't like me then they don't have to hang around with me. But my friends are really accepting." I said and Jack smiled.
"So right now if you haven't guessed is break, so do you smoke?" I said and Jack eyes just lite up.
"Yes, Christ I could literally murder a cigarette right now." Jack said and I chuckled.
"Then follow me then." I said and I showed Jack where me and my friends hang around at break and lunch.
