Dark affairs

I am awoken by someone kissing me.

"Mickey, baby, let's get up and go over to the bus to get Jack and go out for food." He whispers.

I open my eyes, blinking a few times and look at Alex smiling down at me.

"Come on gorgeous, I'm hungry." He playfully bites my upper arm.

I swat him away and roll out of bed. "Give me 10 minutes." I mumble sleepily and go to the bathroom for a shower.

The second we enter the bus I can sense the tension.

Jack and Rian both sit in the front lounge and stare at us as we come in. Before I can say hello to Jack he gets up and leaves for the bunks wordlessly and I can see Rian smirk at me.

What's going on? What happened?

I look at Alex to tell him to stay there and I follow after Jack.

I find him lying in his bed staring at the bottom of the upper bunk and he doesn't acknowledge my presence. I crouch down in front of him and touch his arm to make him look at me.

"Jack! What's wrong, please talk to me, what happened?" He looks at me and opens his mouth but then shakes his head.

"Jay" I try again with a softer voice, "remember? You said we could talk about everything. Please, what is bothering you."

He sits up with a sigh and stares at the floor.
"I - I'm not sure, if I can deal with that." He slowly gets out.

"Deal with what?" I ask and get up to sit beside him on the edge of his bunk.

"You and Alex," he says and looks at me for the first time.

I clap my hand in front of my mouth. "Oh my god, Jack, I'm so sorry, I thought you were cool with him coming over last night."

Tears were threatening to spill from my eyes, knowing I had hurt my boyfriend with what I was doing. "Please don't brake up with me." I beg him desperately.

He huffs. "Mickey, I'm not gonna brake up with you. We all agreed to do it and I was okay with it yesterday but then Rian kept making these stupid remarks about where Alex stayed the night and it was getting to me, I felt like a loser,"

He looks down and runs his hands through his hair shaking his head again. "I don't even know, I got so pissed, like I was cheated on, although I'm technically not because we have a deal."

I pry his hands from his head and hold them, making him turn towards me. "Jack, I can fully understand that and we just call it off with Alex. I never wanted to hurt you, you have to believe me. I love you." I hug him and I'm relieved when after a moment I can feel his arms around me as well.

"I know and I love you, too" he mumbles. "I just felt like I have to share you with him and nobody cares about me anymore."

"Oh Jay, I care about you, so much! I'm sorry, let's stop with this arrangement, it's clearly not working out." I pull his face down and kiss his cheek, stroking his hair.

He puts his head on my shoulder as we're sitting there hugging. After a while he mumbles.

"I've been thinking" I nod to show him I listen. "I guess I want to have a night with Alex and then we're even. If we can't deal with it then we stop."

I swallow thickly, it's only fair but I feel a twist in my gut, still I agree. "Okay, Would you like to take the hotel room tonight and be with Alex? What do you say?"

He looks at me surprised "Really?"

"Of course, it's your turn." I try to smile and act as if I'm sure, but I don't know how I really feel about my proposal.

Jack looks at me unsure, "is this crazy what we're doing, do you think?"

I nod "pretty crazy I guess, but maybe it's equally crazy to believe you can have only feelings for one person at a time. Anyway, it's nobody's business and no one should judge us for it."

Jack looks at me happily and kisses me lightly. "You are honestly the best. You always manage to make me feel better. I'm sorry I was mad at you, you did nothing wrong. I shouldn't have listened to Rian, this little jackass."

"Always remember, Jay. You are my boyfriend and I don't want to hurt you or lose you, so whatever happens, we'll work through it."

He gets up and grabs my hand grinning. "Come on, girlfriend, let's get some food."

......

When we enter the front lounge we stop in our tracks at the sight.

Rian is still sitting in the seat from before but Alex has gotten some company on the couch as Linda is seated now very close beside him.

He looks up at us smiling. "Hey guys, are we going for breakfast now? Linda is joining us." He informs getting up and pulling the girl up with him.

"Hey Linda" I greet and force a smile, "yeah let's go." I motion for them to walk ahead and turn around to make eye contact with Jack.

He looks at me with furrowed brows and a confused face and I make a grimace back and take his hand to pull him with me.

Out of the corner of my eye I notice Rian watching the whole scene closely with an almost disappointed look on his face. I decide to ignore him completely. I believe he just wants to stir things up out of boredom and is waiting for some drama to happen but I will not give him this satisfaction.

We gather in front of the bus and realise Phil and Mac are there as well obviously also in search of some food so we decide to go to the nearest diner together.

We walk down the road where we assume the shops are and I watch how Alex has stuffed his hands in his jacket as he walks close to Linda and she tries to make physical contact by casually touching his arm during their conversation.

I get angry at him the more I think about it, just last night he made me feel like I'm the most important person for him and a few hours later he is already looking for the next prey.

What an asshole! And what about Jack? What if Alex wants to be with Linda tonight instead of him? How will that make him feel? Rejected, again!

I get so protective over my boyfriend that I grab him round the waist as we walk and pull us close together.
He stops talking with Phil for a moment and gives me a sweet smile as he drapes his arm over my shoulder squeezing me lovingly.

How could anyone not fall head over heels in love with this awesome and caring person?

And I decide I will give Alex a piece of my mind the first chance I get.
