Order's Up!

Prologue

I never really saw myself getting into the whole "restaurant bizz" when I was a kid. Yeah, my dad owned his own burger joint that was the highlight of town, but I didn't think at 15, I'd be dragged into the business and have my title slapped onto the name of the business. Peter's Burgers was once the talk of the town, but Peter and Son's kicked Peter's Burgers to the curb, and now they're the talk of the town. Having son's on the sign that distinguishes our business from the rest is sickening because now, there's no way getting out of it. It's not an assumption either; my parents made that pretty clear when I was signed off as a partner for my 15th birthday.

My family was a middle-income family living in a crummy apartment in the core of Baltimore. Yeah, we had a booming business for the small area we occupied, but it wasn't enough to even classify us as some high class, rich family. We always had to put our money towards renovations since the building the business was placed in was shit, and the bills between our home, phone, electricity, and all that jazz would cost us another hunk of change we couldn't use towards our own riches. As a result, we were left for maybe a penny bag to piss in and a good forty bucks for groceries for the home. Number one rule in a family business: the business' needs came first. Without its needs being satisfied, our lives wouldn't be satisfied. Why? No business, no dough. Simple as that.

Our low income not only affected our family's living arrangements, but it also affected my education arrangements. I go to school, yes, but not where I want to.

Music has always been a passion of mine, ever since I was a little kid. I had every toy instrument you could think of: guitar, keyboard, trumpet. I even had a toy drum set until my parents took that away for reasons that are pretty self explanatory when it comes to kids plus drum sets. My passion for music expanded when I joined my high school's band and choir as a freshman. I loved singing when I did choir practice and events, but I also loved playing the guitar in band. I was a beast at electric guitar, and after my freshman year, my band director insisted I should send in an application and an audition to Baltimore's School of Arts for the gifted and talented art kids of Baltimore. I was ecstatic! Plus, when they got my application and audition, I got accepted! The acceptance letter came, however, with the tuition information, and it was just too much for my family, causing me to have to decline their acceptance and remain in Dulaney High.

I want to be a rock star; with a burning passion, I do! I want to get out of this burger joint and get into the field and succeed. But, with my family's funds and my lack of confidence that comes along for the ride, my chances are slim to none.

Oh, well -- order's up!

Notes

Hey, hey, hey!

Yes, the iconic Batman/Robin or PB/J duo is back and ready to bust out a new story. It's going to be a good one, and we hope we don't break as many hearts with this one. I'm posting the first chapter after this; it'll be as good as I can make it since I do start school again tomorrow.

Hope you enjoy!
