When She Smiles, It's Got Nothing To Do With Me
-Jack's POV-
Winter break had just ended and I've been avoiding Leikin ever since our day together. I knew I'd just hurt her and she didn't deserve that. Right now,I was by my locker packing my bag up for the morning.
"Hey, stranger!" Leikin smiled,pushing my shoulder softly.
"Hey, Lei," I said smiling back and giving her a hug. I couldn't help it, it was almost instinct. I'd be fine if I could just hold her forever in my arms, but I knew that I'd just ruin everything. Suddenly, she tippy-toed and kissed my lips softly, snapping me out of thought.
"Whatcha thinking bout?" She mumbled her lips touched mine as she spoke.
"N-nothing," I mumbled back.
"Sure?" She asked as she put her fingers in my belt loops.
"Y-"
"Get a room, you two! You're blocking my locker!" Alli said, interrupting me.
"I had to do something anyways, bye," Lei said walking away.
"Bye," Alli and I said in unison.
"So, did I miss something?" Alli asked.
"What do you mean?"
"You guys were all over each other two seconds ago all kissy. Did you finally ask her out?" She said getting her books and making eye contact once in a while.
"No, I didn't."
"Why not? Y'know the longer that you put this off the worse you're making it for yourself."
"I-I know, I just don't know how to ask her."
"Uhm, how about you just ask her. It doesn't matter how you ask her at this point, I'm pretty sure she'll say yes to anything!"
"You sure?"
"I'm pretty positive," Alli said as she locked her locker, thew her bag over her shoulder, and disappeared down the hallway. I sighed to myself. I better not fuck this up.
-After school-
I decided to drive Leikin home and ask her on the way. I waited by her locker for her to come. Soon enough, I saw her walking down the hall laughing with Kat. Just the way her eyes lit up when she smiled made me feel warm on the inside.
"Hey," Leikin said walking up to me.
"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted a ride home?" I asked
"Yeah, sure. Let me just get my stuff together," she said packing all the things she needed from her locker into her bag. When she was done, she locked her locker back. She held my hand and we walked to my car. When we got there, I opened the door on her side, closed it when she got in, then got in on my side. I stated to drive to her house. It was time to ask her.
"Lei?" I asked
"Yeah?" She smiled.
"I was wondering..." I trailed off looking at her bright smile and I noticed that I never wanted to be the one to take it away.
"You were wondering what?"
"I was wondering if you could tutor me in French, in kinda failing and I know you speak it fluently and everything," I said as her smile faded. I wasn't even lying. I don't think I can even say 'hello' properly in French.
"Sure, Jack" she replied. The car ride was silent until we got to her house.
"Bye," she said getting out of the car so fast that I didn't even get the chance to reply to her.
I think I just broke her heart, but I knew it was for the better. Alex is going to beat the shit out of me when he finds this out.
-Leikin's POV-
I got in my house and went straight to my room. I called Alli and she picked up instantly.
"Yello!" She answered.
"Hey, you won't believe what just happ-"
"What?" Alli asked cutting me off.
"Well, Jack drive me home and he was like 'oh, can you tutor me in French?' I actually thought he was gonna ask me out! I'm so stupid!"
"No, you're not! I'm gonna call Jack, okay?"
"No Alli! Do-" suddenly the line when dead. "Fucking hell!" I murmured throwing my phone down on my bed.
-Jack's POV-
"You did what?" Alex exclaimed in disbelief after I told him what happened. Suddenly my phone rang it was Alli. I was about to get it.
"Hello?" I asked, pretty scared.
"WHAT THE FUCK, MAN?"
"I can expl-"
"Yes! Please enlighten me! Why on fucking God's green earth would do that?"
" I was nervous, alright?"
" Go fucking fix that shit right now! I'm not going to sit here and listen to my friend whine about you for the rest of eternity! Go!"
"Ok, I'll do it tomorrow. I just need to find the words to say."
"No! You're going to fix it now, before I kick you in the balls so hard, you'll be sterile!" She said with a bit of hostility in her voice which made me believe that she might actually do it.
"Ok, I'm on my way now!"
"Good!" Alli stated hanging up.
" I have to go," I said getting my belongings.
"You can't leave, I'm not done yelling at you!" Alex whined.
"Trust me, I just got enough yelling for the rest of my life. I'm gonna go fix it."
"Yes, please!" And with that I left.
- Leikin's POV-
I finally started to relax. If it was meant to be, it would happen. I was home alone as usual. Nick was barely ever home and both my parents were working late. I sighed softly and grabbed me books from my bag and started to do my homework. Sometimes school work was an escape for me as crazy as that might sound. It worked for me.
When I was done I poured some chips into a bowl. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. It made me jump a bit. I picked u the bowl of chips and opened the door. It was Jack.
"Hey," I said awkwardly
"I was wondering something else."
"What?" I asked. Did he want me to tutor him in math, too?
"Would you like to be my girlfriend?"
He asked hopefully.
"Yeah, I really do, actually."
"That's good then," he smiled,then placed his lips to mine. He came inside the house and closed the door behind him. We worked our way to my room and one thing led to another.
