Alex's POV

"So when were you going to tell me?" I asked, looking at Lily who stared down at her lap. She was ashamed. Even though she hasn't specifically told me or shown the obvious body language, I'd been with her long enough to realise it.

"Tell you what?" she mumbled.

I leaned forward and got a hold of her hands in mine. "What you're ashamed of and before you act like you don't know what I'm talking about. I know you Lily. I know what you did." I let go of her hands and slouched back in the chair. "Honestly, I don't care."

Lily sighed. "Alex, you ignored me," she looked up and blinked. "Before you say you were busy, our child had died, you promised that we'd get through it together." Her voice shook. I felt terrible again. It's strange how after so many years that subject still caused the same amount of pain. "You all left to go on tour. That's what bands do but you never called me. Not even once," she raised her voice. "I didn't even hear from any of you...I thought you were my friends. What I did wasn't wrong in my books. It was after you called to break up with me."

"We were busy..."

Lily bolted up from the couch and heavily sighed in frustration. "Oh for goodness sake Alex. Listen to yourself. Andy is in a band and he calls me everyday when he's away, even when he's busy." Anger filled her voice. I couldn't believe she'd mentioned... Andy...

"What? This isn't about your boyfriend, it's about us..." I trailed off realising how stupid I was being but Andy practically took the most beautiful girl away from me.

"Us didn't work... When disaster strikes we had to work really hard to fix things. It didn't help that you went silent."

"The others wanted to call you." I admitted. I watched as she sat back down for a surprised reaction but it didn't come, all she did was stare at me waiting to hear the rest. "I told them not to."

"Why?" she asked flatly.

"Because I didn't want them talking to the girl I love when I wasn't."

"Loved," she corrected.

l shook my head. "I still love you Lily. What I did was...ok I was a douche and hurt you... thought I'd never do that..."

"But you did," she stated which sent shivers down my spine. "I didn't ask for Andy's help. He just turned up on my door step and it all started. We didn't know it was going to end up like it has."

Her words hit me. I shouldn't even be here. I came to see her, to say I was sorry and leave. I knew she would have moved on but it's ended up with me confessing my love for her when she has clearly moved on with one of my friends.

Something else had caught my eye, she'd been rubbing her stomach quite a bit as well. It was like she was protecting some-

Lily looked at me and placed her hands on her stomach again. "I'm pregnant Alex," she stated.

"No," I mumbled in disbelief. "Congrats," I spat and left, I couldn't be here anymore. It was all too much. Yes it was ten years later but it still hurts to know that the most amazing girl has slipped through my fingers and was actually happy and I wasn't.

"Alex," his voice rang in my ears. I turned around to see Andy smiling. "It's been a while, it's great-"

"Save it Andy!" His smile disappeared with my harsh words. "I told you to lay off her."

He crossed his arms over his chest and narrowed his eyes. "Where were you when she was in pain from losing her child."

"Our child," I corrected harshly.

"I stuck up for you Alex. Told her you were just in pain and you didn't blame her for what happened, I'm not sure if that's true now."

"I wasn't blaming her and we were busy..."

That was becoming a stupid excuse. It was all my fault. I'd lost Lily because of my stupidity.

"Oh by the way, congratulations," I continued before storming off and climbing into my car. I watched Andy for a moment, he looked confused by what I'd just said. He shook his head and walked in the house. I took a deep breath, wiped my eyes and turned on the engine. I needed to go home or the pub, I wasn't sure which one sounded more appealing.

Sorry this update is up later than I expected. I've had some off days and have written this chapter a few times but hadn't felt right. I wrote this today and thought it was good. It's short but has what I wanted to do. Sorry for the plot twist. Alex and Lily seemed so good for eachother but since I put Andy in, I'd felt like Lily and Andy should be together. This is the last chapter of this story so thank you to Newyork's comments. I really appreciated them.

I understand there might be some unanswered questions so there is room for a sequel but I'm going to take a break from this story. I might even just edit it at some point. Make it better and longer.
