We've Got Unfinished Business

~The Next Day~

I woke up after an afternoon nap with Aubrey. She was crying right on top of me, trying to wake me up. She was laying on my chest so I had no choice but to get up. I sat up and held her tightly as I got off of the couch. Most of the reason she was crying was because she wet her diaper in her sleep. I went to her room and laid her on her changing table.

"Are you going to let me change you without holding on to your feet the entire time?" I asked as she brought her foot closer to her face. "I'll take that as a no."

I struggled in changing her diaper for the next few minutes. Once I finished I laid her on her blanket on the floor. She needed to practice reaching and using her neck and arm muscles. She was able to hold herself up for a long time now, well longer than before. I placed her stuffed sheep in front of her so she could use her muscles by reaching for it.

I went to use the bathroom knowing that she would be occupied with trying to get her toy. When I finished up I went back into Aubrey's room. She had grabbed the toy when I stepped in and she pushed herself from her stomach to her back.

"Aubrey!" I gasped and she looked at me to see if she did something wrong. "You rolled over mama!" I exclaimed. She giggled as I picked her up and placed kisses on her check.

"I'm going to get my phone so I can record you if you do it again." I told her.

I took us back to my room and grabbed my phone off of the charger. I had one text message from an unknown number. I unlocked my phone and read it.

Unknown:
Hey Jack it's Oli. Kellin gave me your number so I could apologize. I know it was stupid for me to use the information you gave me against Alex, but I hated that he was trying to hide you and your daughter. I'm really sorry!

I added Oli's number as a contact then I texted him back.

To Oli:
It was really stupid of you to do that, but I understand.

To Jack:
Do you forgive me?

To Oli:
Lol yeah I forgive you Oli.

To Jack:
Thank you! Let's go celebrate with drinks. I can come get you in an hour and take you to my favorite bar.

To Oli:
I'm not old enough to drink, remember? Plus I need a babysitter.

To Jack:
I know the owner so it's cool, just get dressed. And ask her sperm donor to babysit.

To Oli:

To Oli:
Yeah I'll do that

I called Kellin from my phone and put him on speaker.

"Hey Kellin, what are you doing?" I asked.

"Nothing much, I have some homework I should be doing, but I don't feel like it. Do you want to do something?"

"No not me, but your niece wants to see you. Right Aubrey?" I tickled her sides so she would giggle.
"Aww I'm on my way!" He exclaimed and hung up.

I went to my closet and found something to wear with Oli. I put on a grey V-neck and some black skinny jeans. Then I placed Aubrey in her bouncer and went to the bathroom to fix my hair. Kellin came in my room minutes later and he picked Aubrey up. Then they both came into the bathroom with me.

"What's all this for?" Kellin asked as he gestured to me.

"I'm going to hang out with Oli." I told him.

"Oh so you're going on a date?" He chuckled.

"No we're just hanging out."

"Whatever that means."

"I want to get to know him better because Vic said he might be using me. I just want to see if he seems like he likes more or if he is just using me to make Alex mad."

"Do people do that in real life?" He chuckled.

"Yeah they use someone to make another person jealous. It's really stupid."

"That is stupid." He agreed. "So since you're going to hang out with Oli does that mean you feel better about everything that happened yesterday?" He asked.

"No, but this is helping me cope with the fact that Alex most likely doesn't want to be in our lives. I need to move on and allow myself to try to date other people now." I said.

"Finally! I've been trying to tell you that you should try dating again. It'll help you get over Alex."

"Yeah."

I finished my hair and Oli texted asking for my address so he could pick me up. I texted to him and minutes later he was outside of my house. I didn't have to explain anything to my mom because she stayed the night with Avery last night and was at work now.

"Okay I'm leaving. You should probably feed Aubrey now since she usually eats at this time. Be careful because she learned how to roll over today so make sure she doesn't roll and hurt herself." I explained to Kellin.

"Got it, now go have fun with your new dream guy." He said and I rolled my eyes and told him bye.
I kissed Aubrey good-bye and walked out to Oli's car. He smiled at me as I opened the door and got in.

"Hey! You look cute." He complemented.

"Thanks. You look good too." I said.

"Thank you." He said and began driving.

"So where are we going again?"

"It's a bar down town."

"How do you know the owner?"

"I go here ever time I'm in Baltimore, plus she’s a huge fan of my band."

"Is it well known or not so popular?" I didn’t know the bars so well in this town plus I wanted to text Kellin the address just in case anything happened.

"It's a small bar, Jack." He chuckled. "Why are you asking so many questions? Are you scared I'm kidnapping you or something?"

"No I just...someone told me that you might be using me to make Alex angry. That isn't true is it?" I asked.

"No I wouldn't do anything like that. As much as I like to fuck with Alex, there are other ways to do it. I just wanted to take you out because you're sexy and it seems like you know how to have a good time." He told me and I blushed.

"Oh um I uh guess." I stumbled and he chuckled.

"The fact that you used to date Alex is just a bonus that came with you."

"Why don't you two like each other?"

"He's just an annoying prick. Like he acts high and mighty for no fucking reason."

"But what happened between you two?"

"What do you mean?" He asked suspiciously.

"I mean what happened to make you two hate each other?"

"...Nothing. I just hate his personality and he hates mines." He shrugged.

"So you two just hate each other because of how you think the other one acts?" I said judgmentally.

"I know for a fact he acts like an asshole." He said stubbornly and I sighed. I wasn't going to get anywhere trying to solve their problem so I stopped.

We finally made it to the bar and went inside. There was a security guard checking IDs at the door, but he let me in with Oli. I felt kind of cool getting into a bar for older people, given I was about to turn eighteen. The bar was pretty chill there were so many TVs and pool tables. I followed Oli to the bar area to the bartender.

"Hey Lacey two beers!" He called out to the girl.

"I don't drink beer." I told him.

"Make that one beer and one mixed drink. Just surprise us." He said, making me chuckled.

We went to sit at a table as we waited for our drinks. It was a nice calm bar and there weren't many people. It did start to feel a little weird for me to be there, maybe because I was underage.

"You look uncomfortable." Oli said and I nodded.

"I feel out of place." I said honestly.

"You just need a few drinks to loosen up. Then you won't care where you go."

I nodded, but I didn't know what he meant by that. I hoped he didn't think I would go home and sleep with him tonight. I should have driven myself here. I nervously looked at my phone to check the time, but I saw a message from Alex. I frowned at my phone and unlocked it. Usually I wouldn't be rude and pay attention to my phone when I was with someone else but I was really curious.

From Alex:
Hey do you have time to meet up and talk?

I saw that he had just sent it three minutes ago.

From Jack:
No I can't. I'm out right now.

From Alex:
Out where?

I sat my phone down on the table without responding and huffed. I didn't have to tell him where I was. My phone vibrated with another message from Alex and I quickly glanced at it.

From Alex:
Are you with Oli?

I wasn’t going to reply to that. I put my phone down again and looked at Oli apologetically but he smiled at me.

"Is everything okay?" He asked after seeing the annoyed look on my face.

"Yeah." I mumbled.

"Is it Alex?"

"Maybe." I said and he stared at me waiting for the true. "Yeah it's him, he wants to know where I am."

"He probably thinks you're with me." He chuckled.

"Yeah probably." I agreed. The bartender bought our drinks over and we thanked her. I'm pretty sure mine was a fuzzy navel.

"Hold on." He pulled out his phone and began typing. I waited patiently, hoping he wasn't doing anything destructive. "Done!"

"What did you do?" I asked.

"I just tweeted that I was having drinks with a new love interest at this bar. Just in case Alex’s being nosy." He laughed and I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Why would you do that? Now he's going to come here." I complained.

"He's not that stupid." He said confidently and I rolled my eyes. I definitely didn't like Oli as much as I thought I did. He acted like more of a teenager than me.

Twenty minutes later I was dying. At this point I just wanted to get this night over with. This night ruined my chances of dating for a little while longer.

"Do you live here in the U.S or back in the U.K?" I asked.

"The U.K, but I visit the states frequently. I might as well live here."

"Oh that's cool." I was just forcing conversation with him. This whole night was a train wreck. I just wanted to go home now.

Oli finished up his second beer and he was about to ask the bartender for one more, but stopped. "I guess he is that stupid." He said with his eyes locked on someone.

I turned around to see Alex and Zack walking towards us. Alex was staring Oli down as they walked our way. They finally made it to our table and Zack and I told each other hi. Alex and I looked at each other, but we didn't say anything. I could already feel a headache coming on.

"Funny thing see you two here." Alex said sarcastically.

"Yeah it is funny considering I just posted that we were here a few minutes ago on Twitter." Oli told him.

"Jack what are you doing here with him?" Alex asked.

"We just came to grab drinks." I shrugged.

"Drinks?? You do know he's only seventeen don't you?" Alex angrily asked Oli.

"Yeah I know." Oli said.

"And you're okay with going on a date with a minor?"

"It's better than getting a minor pregnant." He smirked at Alex.

"I didn't know he was underage at the time." Alex grumbled.

"Well now you do know and yet you still came to a bar just because he was here. I wonder how your fiancée would feel about this."

"Leave Lisa out of this."

"How about you just leave?"

"Can we leave? I have a headache and I just want to go home." I sighed.

"Yeah, babe I'll take you home." Oli said. He sat money on the table for the tab and Alex watched as Oli came and wrapped his arm around my waist.

"Bye Alex, bye Zack." I said and we walked out. Part of the reason I didn't make Oli move his hand is because I wanted to see if it would make Alex a little jealous. He did look a little ticked as we left, but it could have been because of Oli.

"So do you want to go back to my place?" Oli asked.

"No I think I better just go home. My headache is really bad." I exaggerated. I did have a small headache from the bickering between him and Alex.

"Okay. Maybe next time."

"Yeah definitely." I lied. There wouldn't be a next time.

Oli dropped me off at home and I told him I had a nice night with him. He told me that he wanted us to go out again before he had to leave and I told him we could plan it some other time. I felt bad about lying, but I didn't want to hurt his feelings tonight.

When I went inside my house, Kellin and Aubrey were sitting on the couch eating mango slices. Aubrey had mango juice and pieces all over her face and shirt.

"Did she try feeding herself?" I asked.

"Yeah, she actually got some of it in her mouth." He said and I chuckled. "You’ve only been gone an hour. How was the date or hang out or whatever?”

"Horrible. I don't want to go out with Oli again. He's too obsessed with trying to dangle me in front of Alex." I sighed.

"Oh no what happened?"

"He tweeted that he was out with a "special someone" so Alex would see it and of course Alex did see it. He came up to the bar and they started going back and forth with each other. It was so annoying."

"The idea that two guys are fighting over you is annoying??" He asked, confused.

"Yes I don't like to be the center of attention so I hated it." I complained. "Plus Alex is engaged so he shouldn’t really be fighting over me."

"I told you he still has feelings for you. Why else would he want to stop you from dating Oli?"

"He's still going to marry Lisa in a few months so it doesn’t seem like he cares that much about me." I said.

"You're in denial." He chuckled. If Alex really had feelings for me he would have called off his wedding.

"Yeah yeah. Thanks for babysitting my munchkin." I told him and picked up Aubrey from him.

"You're welcome. I should go home, I need to catch up on my TV shows. I'll see you Monday."

"Okay bye." I said and he left.

I kissed Aubrey on the cheek and she smiled at me. She looked so much like Alex from his baby pictures when she smiled. I was never going to forget him since my daughter was an exact replica of him.

"Are you ready to take a bath?" I asked her.

I took her to the bathroom and ran bath water for her. My phone started ringing and I grabbed off of the bathroom counter. It was Alex calling me. I stared at my phone for a second before deciding to answer it.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey we need to talk." He demanded and I frowned.

"Change your tone." I said, repeating the line my mother always told me when she thought I was being disrespectful.

"Can we talk?" He sighed.

"Yeah."

"Can I come over?"

"My mom is going to be home in two hours."

"All I need is one."

"Okay fine." We both hung up.

I placed Aubrey in the tub so I could finish her bath before Alex came over. I already knew what he wanted to talk about. He was probably going to try and talk me out of hanging out with Oli.

I finished bathing Aubrey and I took her to her room to get dressed. I put on her pajamas and we went to the living room to wait on Alex. The doorbell rang a few minutes after I sat on the couch. I got up to go let him in.

"Hey." He said when I opened the door.

"Hi." I said back and let him in. He followed me into the living room and sat next to me on the couch.

"What did you want to talk about?" I asked.

"Everything."

"Okay?" I said confused. That was such a vague answer.

"I guess we can start off with Aubrey. I do want to be here for her Jack. I want to be in her life and I want her to know me, I swear. I just want to wait a little while before telling Lisa. It's so much worse now that she's actually met you two. I've basically been lying to her ever since we saw you at Starbucks that day. I just don't know how she's going to handle the news, but I swear I'm going to tell her and I swear I want to actually be Aubrey's father."

"Okay." I nodded. I didn't really care if he told Lisa or not. She was either going to be super pissed he lied or super happy that they were going to see Aubrey a lot more.

"And I’m sorry that I said you being able to get pregnant wasn’t normal. I just panicked and to be honest I’m still getting used to the idea, but it doesn’t mean I love Aubrey any less.” He apologized and kissed Aubrey on the cheek.

“I know, it took me months to get used to it too. It just hurt to hear you say it out loud.”

“Well it hurt to see you with Oli tonight.” He said and I scoffed.

“Imagine how it feels to know you’re engaged to someone.”

His sighed and placed his head in his hands. “I’m sorry you’re right. I just have been having some conflicting feelings lately.”

". . . We’re not dating. I just wanted to go hang out with Oli, but it wasn't a big deal." I told him and he lifted his head to look at me.

"Thank God."

"Why do you two hate each other?" I asked and he sighed.

"We just do."

"No I'm sick of the answer. Tell me."

"Ugh I hate telling this story." He said and I stared at him until he broke down. "Fine. A few years ago we were on tour with Bring Me and Oli and I got really close. We would go out together, stay in together, eat together, explore together, literally anything you can think of we did together." He said and I nodded telling him to continue. "Well one day we got really drunk and he confessed that he had a crush on me and he kissed me. I honestly didn't feel the same way about him, but I made out with him anyways. We continued to kiss, one thing lead to another and we both ended up naked."

"Alex." I said in shock.

"Wait let me finish . . . we had sex. He was the first person I ever let top me. And the next morning when we woke up I realized I made a horrible mistake. He told me that he was falling in love with me and I told him that I didn't love or even like him back. His heart was literally broken and I honestly did feel bad about that. No matter how much I apologized he didn't believe me so finally I gave up. I stopped talking to him all together and he thought that I was being an asshole so he became even bitterer. He started trying to make my life a living hell. So we had to cut the tour short because we argued with each other every night. And we haven't toured with them ever since. We didn't even know they were playing at that festival until the last minute."

"You and Oli had sex??" I asked still in shock.

"Is that the only thing you got from that story?" He asked and I laughed.

"You two actually had sex." I chuckled.

"Yes Jack. I had sex with Oil. Go ahead and get it all out of your system." He said as I continued to laugh. I couldn't help myself, I honestly did not think that's how that story would go. I thought he was going to say they fought over the same girl or guy or something.

"I'm sorry." I giggled.

"No it's okay, I know it's a very unusual story." He said.

"No I'm sorry, I shouldn't laugh at your misery." I apologized again.

"I'm over it now. So that's why we don't like each other and that's why he was probably using you to mess with me."

"Why did it mess with you to see me with him?" I asked.

"I just didn't want him to take advantage of you. I still care about you, Jack."

"I know, just know in that way." I said and looked down.

"...Well I do, but there's nothing I can do about it. You're still underage and I'm engaged." He said and quickly looked back at him.

"You still have feelings for me?" I asked.

"Yeah. I tried to hide them, but I can't. Seeing you with Oli today helped me realize that." He admitted.

"Do you still love me?" I asked and he hesitated before answering.

"Yeah. I never stopped."

"I still love you too."

We stared at each other and then he leaned over and kissed me. I kissed back just as passionately as he did. Aubrey cooed, making us realize what we actually doing and we pulled apart from each other.

"Um I-I should uh go." Alex stammered.

"Yeah." I said and we both stood. I walked him to the door and he turned towards Aubrey and me before he left.

"I'll um see you later." He said nervously.

“Okay.” I smiled. He leaned down to kiss Aubrey on the cheek and then kissed me on the cheek too.

"Bye." I said and we went back inside.

I didn't know what that meant for us. Alex still loved me, but I was still underage and I was going to be until June eighteenth. I knew what we just did was wrong and unfair to Lisa, but I couldn't help myself. I still loved Alex strongly and that got in the way of all of my moral reasoning.

"That was a very bad thing I just did. You should never let an engaged man kiss you." I told Aubrey and she snorted.

Omg reading the comments from the last chapter made me laugh. There were people (here and on mibba.com) who hated Alex and people who felt bad for him lol I love seeing you guys different opinions.
