We've Got Unfinished Business

I was in the middle of feeding Aubrey when my phone started ringing. I knew it was Kellin trying to convince me to go to that festival All Time Low and Pierce the Veil were going to be preforming at tonight. I told him all week long that I refused to go anywhere that Alex and Lisa would be. Seeing those two together was going to make me jealous and depressed. I just let his call go to voicemail.

"Mmm!" Aubrey hummed as I feed her more mushed up apples and bananas baby food.

"Is it that good Mama?" I chuckled and she smiled, showing her gums. "Just wait until you get teeth. You'll be able to eat even more delicious food!"

My phone started to ring again and I looked down to see Kellin's name. I almost reached for it but I decided against it. I knew if I talked to him he would persuade me into going. Aubrey stared at my phone as it ringed on the table, she liked the iPhone ringtone and when the phone lit up.

"I'm not answering that. He's just going to try to talk me into going to a concert with him." I told Aubrey and she cooed at my phone. "Right? I shouldn't be a push over. Next time he calls I'm going to answer and tell him I'm not going."

My phone sent Kellin to voicemail and it started ringing again. I stared at it, of course I wasn't going to answer it. Maybe I wasn't being a pushover, deep down I really wanted to go see Alex again. I knew that Kellin would help me cave in and do it. My phone went to voicemail again and Kellin texted me. I flipped my phone over so I wouldn't have to see the message staring back at me. I finished feeding Aubrey and we went into the living room to watch TV. Aubrey sat in my lap playing with her newly discovered feet.

I heard the sound of a car alarm outside a few minutes later. I knew it was Kellin so I got up to hide. I didn't have enough time to pick a good spot so I got into the coat closet with Aubrey and shut the door.

The front door opened and Kellin walked into the house. "Jack!" He called out for me. I covered my mouth to keep from laughing. He was about to walk away from the living room area where I was hiding, but Aubrey started whimpering. I probably should have turned the light on so it would be dark.

"Shhh." I quietly shushed her, but it was too late. She let out a wail and Kellin opened the door.

"Wow you really tried." He said.

"Shut up." I rolled my eyes and walked out with Aubrey. She stop her fake crying and reached out for Kellin and he took her from me.

"You did such a good job!" He complemented her.

"She's the worst hide-and-seek player ever." I complained.

"Whatever, why weren't you answering your phone?"

"Because I know why you were calling. You’re trying to convince me to go to that dumb concert."

"But it'll be so much fun! We can walk around and enjoy good food and music!" He exclaimed.

"But Alex is going to be there with Lisa." I whined.

"So? Just because he's there doesn't mean you can't have a good time. Literally ignore his presence like I'm planning on doing."

"That's rude. I'm going to have to say something to him."

"Yeah you can tell him hi, but there isn't any reason to talk to him after that. It's not like he's going to ask how's Aubrey doing or anything with his fiancé sitting right there."

"Well yeah I guess that's true." I said.

"It is, plus we might find you a new boy toy." He chuckled and I rolled my eyes.

"No."

"Come on, Aubrey says she wants a new dad since hers is too embarrassed to tell anyone about her." He joked.

"He's not embarrassed, he's just not ready."

"Tomato Tom-ah-toe." He waved his hand at me.

"Plus he could get in serious trouble if anyone knew the truth." I added.

"Yeah yeah whatever. He's still an awful person in my book. So are you going to come with me?"

"Let me call May and see if she can babysit until my mom gets off." I told him and he nodded.

I picked up my phone, and saw the three missed calls Kellin left me and the text that he sent saying he was coming over to force me to talk to him. I unlocked my phone and called May.

"Hello." She answered.

"Hey May, are you busy?" I asked.

"No what's up?"

"I was wondering if you could watch Aubrey for a few hours? I want to go to this concert with Kellin, but Mom is at work." I always felt embarrassed asking for favors like this. If I never wouldn't have gotten pregnant I would be able to do things without asking for a babysitter.

"Yeah of course I don't mind!" She exclaimed.

"Oh thank you!" I said, relieved. I told her we wouldn't be leaving for another hour and we hung up.

I left Kellin playing with Aubrey while I went to go find something to wear. I wanted to find the perfect outfit to capture Alex's attention. I knew that was kind of bad since he was engaged, but I couldn't stop myself. I picked out my tightest skinny jeans and put on my Home Alone shirt. I was lucky I went back to my normal weight once all the baby fat dropped off. I did not have the money for a new wardrobe.

I met Kellin in Aubrey's room once I fixed my hair and put on my shoes. He was changing her diaper for me.

"You look good. You're obviously trying to make somebody jealous." He said as I walked in and I blushed.

"No I just wanted to look nice for myself." I lied.

"Whatever, even Aubrey can tell that you're lying." He joked.

May came over ten minutes later. She took Aubrey and told us to be safe at the concert. We left and got in Kellin's car so he could take us to the venue. I was kind of having second thoughts as I thought about seeing Alex and Lisa holding hands or kissing and doing affectionate things. I tried to think like Kellin and tried not to focus my attention on Alex, but that was basically impossible.

We parked and I followed Kellin to the security gate. He showed the guard his ID and he looked down at the list and let us in. We walked all the way back to the rooms for both bands. All time low's was right across from Pierce's. Kellin and I went to the Pierce the veil room and luckily it was just the people belonging to that room.

Everyone greeted us and we said hello back. I sat down next to Kellin on the couch and listened to everyone make conversation. I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen if Alex saw me here. It also didn't help that I could sense everyone in the room new about my secret with Alex. I could have just been paranoid, but I could see Mike and Tony's girlfriends subtly looking at me and whispering to each other. I worried myself so much that I needed to pee.

"I'll be back." I told Kellin and I walked out of the room. I found a public bathroom at the end of the hallway. I hurried up and went so I wouldn't have the chance to accidentally run into Alex.

When I came out of the bathroom there was a guy standing in the hallway. He was hanging up from a phone call, and standing next to a door that had 'Bring me the Horizon' on it. He smiled at me and I smiled back to be polite.

"Hello." He said. He had a nice British accent that kind of made my knees go weak.

"Hi." I said shyly.

"You look pretty lost. Are you?" He chuckled.

"Um no I was um in the room with Pierce the veil."

"Oh you're part of the Pierce clan." He said and I shook my head.

"No I'm just a friend."

"Oh even better. I'm Oli." He stuck a hand out to me.

"Jack."

"It's nice to meet you Jack." He smiled at me.

"You too! Are you in a band?" I wondered.

"Yeah, what gave me away? The tattoos?" He joked and I laughed.

"No I just assumed since everyone else here is."

"You're not in a band."

"Well no but-" he cut me off.

"What are you like a groupie or something?"

"No!" I quickly answered and he chuckled.

"Chill I was kidding." He said and I nodded.

The All Time Low door opened and my heart nearly jumped out of my chest. It was just Danny their guitar tech, but he didn't look at Oli or me. I took a deep breath and looked up to see Oli staring at me.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"Yes I um just...it's a long story." I sighed.

"I don't go on until seven." He said and I smiled. He grabbed my hand and pulled me outside to a few benches behind the stage.

"What's up?" He asked. I don't know why I felt like I could trust Oli enough to tell him this, but if everyone else already knew then why not. Plus I needed a new opinion that wasn’t biased like Kellin.

"Okay so you know the band All time low right?" I asked.

"Boy do I." He chuckled.

"Well I used to date the lead singer-"

"-Alex? You used to date Alex?" He cut me off.

"Yeah why?"

"You don't seem like his type." He shrugged and I frowned.

"What does that mean?" I asked.

"Its nothing. Keep going." He said, pulling out a cigarette.

"Okay… Well I was kind of born a boy and a girl, and long story short I'm fertile and Alex got me pregnant." I said and he choked on the smoke.

"You're pregnant right now?" He asked and tried to way the smoke away from my face.

"No no I already had the baby."

"He's such a fucking asshole. Let me guess, he broke up with you when he found out that you were pregnant?"

"No he broke up with me when he found out that I was sixteen." I sighed and he stared at me.

"You're sixteen?" He asked skeptically.

"Seventeen now, but I'm almost eighteen." I answered.

"I can work with that." He smirked at me, changing the subject and I blushed. I couldn't tell if that was weird or not since he was older than me and knew it.

"Don't say that." I giggled.

"Why not?" He placed a hand on my thigh.

"Because I'm underage for the next three months."

"Nobody has to know." He whispered in my ear and I chuckled. He was conflicting me, on one hand I knew it was wrong to let him flirt with me but on the other he was too sexy for me to care.

He moved closer to kiss me and I was going to let him until I heard Kellin and Vic call my name. I pulled back from Oli and they walked over to check on me.

"Where have you been? I thought you were just going to the bathroom." Kellin stressed.

"Sorry, I was but then I started talking to Oli." I said.

"Oh!" He exclaimed. "Hi Oli." He smiled and I rolled my eyes. He was so happy I was finally talking to another guy.

"Hi Kellin and Vic." He chuckled and Vic waved without saying a word.

"We can go back inside now." I told Kellin. He nodded and he and Vic walked together towards the door. I stopped Oli before we could follow them.

"Can you do me a favor and not tell anyone what I just told you. I don't know how many people know it already, but Alex is trying to keep his fiancé from knowing." I told him.

"He wants to keep you and his child a secret?" He frowned.

"Yeah."

"That's pretty fucked up."

"Yeah, but still keep it to yourself." I begged.

"Of course." He agreed.

We walked back inside and Oli followed me to the Pierce room. They didn't seem to care and all told him hello as he sat down with me. We talked for a few minutes trying to get to know each other better and then Vic called my name.

"Yeah?" I answered him.

"Can I borrow your phone for a minute?" He asked.

"Um yes." I said and looked at Kellin to see what this was about. Kellin nodded his head at me telling me to go.

I stood up and followed Vic into the hallway. He closed the door behind us and sighed.

"Sorry this is weird. I um wanted to warn you that Oli and Alex kind of hate each other." He said and my eyes widen.

"What?" I asked.

"Yeah they don't get along at all. I just wanted to warn you just in case Oli was using you to get back at Alex or something." He said and I nodded understandingly.

"Thank you, Vic." I said.

"You're welcome." He said and walked back inside.

I stayed out for a little bit longer thinking to myself. I told Oli everything that happened between Alex and me and there's a chance that he might use it to mess with Alex. There was also a chance that he wouldn't. He seemed like a nice decent guy that wouldn't threaten Alex with information like this, but Vic wouldn't lie I don't think. I walked back inside and sat next to Oli.

"Is everything okay?" He asked and I nodded. I really hoped it was.

He pulled my legs into his lap and pulled my hips closer to him. I was almost in his lap sitting this way. He opened his mouth to say something but the door quickly opened.

"We decided to come pregame with you guys!" Zack cheered as he walked in with the whole All Time Low band and crew behind him. My stomach dropped as my eyes met with Alex. He and Lisa were the last two to walk in the room. He frowned when he saw me sitting close to Oli with my legs in his lap.

The noise started to die down once everyone noticed I was in the room too. I'm pretty sure everyone, except for Lisa, at this point knew our secret.

"Hey you're the guy from the coffee shop." Lisa said and smiled at me. I could tell Alex was begging me with his eyes not to tell her anything that would make her suspicious.

"Um I don't remember." I said nervously. It was still pretty quiet in the room.

"Yeah you had the cute little girl with you, remember? Your niece." She told me.

"Niece? Don't you mean his daughter?" Oli said and I nearly threw up.

"Oli!" I quickly turned to him and quietly scolded him.

"Sorry I didn't know that was one of the secrets." He said and looked up at Alex. I looked up and saw Alex was glaring back at Oli. The whole room felt tense.

"She's your daughter?" She asked confused.

"Yeah." I sighed.

"Then why do you tell people that she's your niece." She asked, not letting the conversation go. Oli was about to speak, but Alex cut him off before he could.

"He's probably too embarrassed for people to find out that he has a child. It's not normal." Alex said and I looked down. I knew he was trying to save himself, but it hurt to hear him say that. I could see out of the corner of my eye Kellin frowned, he was probably pissed to hear Alex say that.

"Yeah he's right." I agreed.

"Why would you say it's not normal?" Lisa scolded Alex.

"Because I got pregnant and had her." I answered for him and Lisa's eyes grew.

"Oh." She said kind of shocked.

"I helped him a lot since her real dad was too much of a coward to accept her." Kellin cut in bitterly without as much as a glance in Alex's direction.

"Kellin." I sighed.

"What? It's not like I'm saying something everyone doesn't already know." He shrugged.

"Wow things seem tense don't they?" Lisa looked around and asked and Oli burst into laughter.

"I'm sorry, I love dramatic suspense." He said.

"Oli please." I begged and sat up away from him. Kellin and his outburst weren't helping the situation.

"Hey Lisa do you mind coming with me to get food?" Cass asked her so this whole conversation could stop.

"No not at all." Lisa agreed.

Cass winked at me as they walked away and I mouthed thank you to her.

"That was a close one wasn't it buddy?" Oli chuckled at Alex.

"Fuck you." Alex seethed. "And what the hell is your problem?" Alex snapped at Kellin.

"My problem? My problem is you!" Kellin yelled at him.

"I haven't done anything to you." Alex said.

"No but you've more than hurt Jack and that's like hurting me."

"Whatever happened between Jack and I happened between Jack and I. It doesn't concern you."

"Guys." I said, but they both ignored me.

"It does when I have to see him struggle with your kid!"

"Guys." I said a little bit louder.

"Don't you see I'm trying my best to fix things?!?"

"No! I see you trying to keep your secrets away from Lisa!" He yelled.

"That's enough!" I yelled. "I'm so sick of this conversation. Alex if you don't want to ever tell Lisa about Aubrey that's fine. If you don't want to be part of her life that's fine too." I said.

“Jack-“ Kellin tried to object.

"-Kellin stop. I've done a decent job raising Aubrey with the help of you and my mom. I don't need Alex, I don't need his money or support." I said and turned back to Alex. "You can go on living your life as if nothing ever happened. Aubrey and I will be fine without you."

I stood up and stormed out of the room before anyone could say anything else to me. I just wanted to go home get away from the fighting. Plus I was trying my best to hold back tears. I heard the door open as I walked away and part of me hoped it was Alex. Part of me felt pathetic for even hoping for that.

"Jack wait!" Kellin called after me. "Let me take you home." He said once he caught up.

"No I can call an über or something." I shrugged.

"No I wanna go with you."

"I wanna be alone right now, Kells." I sniffled.

"I'm definitely not leaving you alone like this." He said and wiped my eyes. I let him grab my hand and walk me back to his car.

We got in, but he made no effort to drive it. He let me get all of the crying of my system.

"Talk to me." He pleaded as I gasped for air.

"My heart fucking hurts." I sobbed. "I wish I never met Alex. I wish I never would have had sex with him. I wish I never had Aubrey."

"Jack you don't mean that!" He scolded me.

"Yes I do. Every time I look at her I'll be reminded of him." I cried.

"Shh you don't mean that. You're just frustrated. Let's go home." He said and I nodded.

I continued to cry all the way to my house. I cried so much that I became dehydrated and couldn't produce anymore tears. My eyes were red when we walked in the door. Thankfully May was asleep on the couch because I didn't feel like being interrogated.

Aubrey was in her bassinet sleeping too. I went over and picked her up and took her to my room. Kellin followed us to make sure everything was fine. I laid down in my bed and laid Aubrey on my chest. She turned her head to the side and gripped my shirt as she slept. Looking down at her made me immediately regret saying I wished I never had her.

"I'm so sorry." I whispered and kissed the top of her head. "I'm so sorry for everything."

Kellin smiled at me from the doorway, "Do you still want to be alone?" He asked.

"Yes." I said.

He nodded understandingly, "I'm going to go back to the festival, call me if you need anything. Okay?"

"Okay. Promise me you won’t hurt Alex."

“I literally can’t.”

It's so weird making Alex and Oli not like each other. In my other story they're best friends lol
