We've Got Unfinished Business

"Daddy! Breakfast!" Aubrey whined from where she just woke up in our bed.

We hadn't slept alone in our own bed since five weeks ago when she spent the night with Kellin and Vic for me and Alex's date night. We actually didn't do much sleeping that night anyways.

"Okay baby." Alex yawned.

He got up and picked her up with him. They were about to go into the kitchen but I stopped him.

"Wait! Make sure she doesn't have to go to the bathroom so we don't have another accident in the kitchen." I told him. No matter how many times I told Alex to ask her to go to the bathroom in the morning, he would always forget. That led to countless accidents all over the house. It was a good thing she still wore pull-ups.

"Oh yeah. Aubrey do you have to go potty?" He asked her. She nodded her head and he walked her back to the bathroom.

They finished up a few minutes later and Alex helped her wash her hands.

"What do you want to eat?" He asked her.

"Pancakes!" She squealed.

"Are you okay with that?" He asked me.

"Yeah I'm not really hungry." I said. I didn't have an appetite for anything.

"Are you okay?" He walked over and felt my forehead.

"Yeah I'm fine. I'm going to go take a shower really quick."

"Okay." He kissed me. They left to the kitchen and I went to take a shower.

I finished showering and got dressed while trying to figure out why I didn't feel like eating this morning. Alex did make salmon for us last night and I ate two helpings, I guess that's why I had a loss of appetite this morning. I shrugged and met him and Aubrey in the kitchen.

They were both sitting at the table eating. I walked over and sat next to Alex. He try to feed me some of his pancakes but I shook my head.

"You have to eat something so you won't become light headed." He scolded me.

"I know but I don't feel hungry. I think I ate too much last night."

"Oh. Maybe you should lay back down."

"Yeah…just hold on." I held my stomach, I felt like I was going to throw up if I moved.

"Jack?-" Alex reached out for me, but I got up and ran to the guest bathroom.

I barely had enough time to lift the top before I was throwing up into the toilet. Alex ran in behind me and Aubrey ran in after him.

"Both of you out." I breathed after I finally stopped. It was kind of embarrassing for Alex to see me throw up and I especially didn't want Aubrey to see me like this.

"But Jack-"

"-No get out and take her with you." I cut him off. He nodded understandingly and picked her up. "And call Kellin." I called after him. Alex had to meet up in the studio with the guys today and I wouldn't be able to watch Aubrey if I felt this sick all day.

I felt another wave of nausea and I threw up again. Everything that I ate last night was coming back up. I flushed the toilet and laid against it until Kellin got here twenty minutes later.

"Hey sorry I took so long." Kellin said when he walked in. He closed the door behind himself and sat down next to me.

"Why did it take you forever?" I mumbled.

"There was a long line at the store." He told me and I looked at him.

"What did you buy?" I asked and he reached into the bag and pulled out a pregnancy test. I stared at him without saying a word.

"I was right the first time wasn't I?" He said and I rolled my eyes at him and took the test from him. Before I could open the package there was a knock at the door. I hid the package behind the toilet and Kellin opened the door.

"Hey I have to get going now, is everything okay?" Alex asked.

"Yeah like I said I just ate too much last night." I assured him and he exhaled in relief.

"Okay. Aubrey is in the living room watching tv and playing with her toys. I'll see you in a little bit." He walked over and leaned down to kiss me on the fore head.

"Okay." I smiled.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

"Thanks Kellin." He told Kellin and left.

When I heard him go out the front door I pulled the test out again. I opened the package and pulled one of the test out. I sighed and stood up so I could pee on the stick.

"I'll be with Aubrey, just come get me when you're done." Kellin told me and I nodded.

I closed the door behind him and quickly took the pregnancy test. Last time I did this I was in complete denial, this time I was on the fence. Maybe I was pregnant or maybe I did actually eat too much last night. I sat down on the toilet and patiently waited for that thing to tell me my fate. Two minutes later I looked at it and called Kellin into the bathroom.

"What does it say?" He quickly asked.

"Two lines." I sighed and he smiled.

"I am two for two!" He cheered and I shook my head at him.

"Yes thank you for enjoying this." I said sarcastically.

"Sorry. But can you believe it?"

"No because I'm getting married in four months. I'm going to walk down the aisle with a baby in my stomach." I whined.

"Who cares? You already had one baby out of wedlock. Being pregnant while getting married won't change anything." He said.

"Well yeah but I'm going to gain more weight by then. Plus this is going to put more stress on Alex. He's trying to write new music and they're going on tour a few months after our wedding. He's not going to want to leave when he finds out I'm pregnant."

"I can help you. Vic's going to be on tour around that time too so I can stay here with you." He suggested.

"That's not a bad idea. I would just have to assure Alex that everything will be fine if he leaves for tour."

"I can't believe you're on baby number two before I can even get one." He joked and I chuckled.

"Shut up. I can't believe I'm pregnant again before I can turn twenty-one. Ugh one of the condoms must have broken on our date night." I said to myself.

"When are you going to tell him?"

"Umm I don't know. I feel like I should make it special since he didn't know about Aubrey until she was born."

"Yeah it would be cute to surprise him."

"I just hope he doesn't freak out."

I sent Kellin home since I was starting to feel better. Aubrey was taking a nap in my lap so I didn't need to waste his time watching us do nothing. Plus Alex was going to be home in an hour.

I rubbed Aubrey's back as I looked at my mom's contact information in my phone. I was trying to force myself to call and tell her so I could get it over with. I was just afraid of how she might react. I know I'm over eighteen so nothing about this is illegal, but I was still going to have two kids before being married, given she did too.

I accidentally pressed the call button for her and quickly hung up. A second later she called me back, I sighed and took it as a sign to tell her.

"Hey Jack, did you mean to call me?" She asked when I answered.

"Um yes and no." I chuckled nervously.

"Alright what's going on?"

"Um so this morning I wasn't feeling too good and I ended up throwing up...a lot and-"

"-You're pregnant?" She cut me off.

"...yeah." I whispered.

"Oh Jacky when are you going to listen to me about protection?" She asked.

"We were being safe, but I think...it broke or something." I said awkwardly. I hated conversations like this with my mom.

"Oh of course. So I can expect another beautiful grandchild?"

"Yes!"

"When did you find out?"

"This morning after Alex left for work. I haven't told him yet."

"I'm sure he'll be happy to hear the great news." She said.

"I hope so. I thought it might stress him out because he's trying to do as much work as he can before the wedding."

"I think it's going to stress you out more because you're going to be pregnant and planning a wedding at the same time."

"Ugh I need a wedding planner, I can't do this on my own."

"Well talk to Alex about it, I'm sure he doesn't want you doing everything on your own." She suggested.

"Yeah I'll talk to him after I tell him the big news."

"Oh May just walked in. Do you want to tell her or should I?" She chuckled.

"I'll do it." I said. My mom handed May the phone.

"Hey Jack." She said happily. "Mom said you have something to tell me."

"Yeah. May I'm pregnant." I told her and she gasped.

"No way!" She yelled and I heard my mom laugh.

"Yeah I just found out this morning!"

"What did Alex say?"

"I haven't told him yet. I'm going to try to surprise him with the news." I said.

"Aw! He's going to flip out. How are you going to tell him??" She chuckled.

"I'm not sure, I need to figure that out."

"Go to Pinterest, they'll have lots of cute ideas." She suggested.

"Oh yeah. I'll do that now. I'll call you back later."

"Okay bye!"

"Bye." I said and we hung up.

I opened up the Pinterest app on my phone and typed in surprise pregnancy ideas. The first few that I saw were cute but they weren't perfect for us. I wanted one that would relate to something that he loved doing. I scrolled for twenty minutes and then I found the perfect way to tell him. I quickly ordered it from Amazon and did one day shipping. I couldn't wait for it to come in so I could see his face when he figured it out.

About an hour and a half later Alex walked through the door and Aubrey ran to him.

"Hey did you miss me?" He asked and kissed her on the cheek.

"Yes." She giggled.

"I missed you too and my soon-to-be husband." He smiled at me and sat down.

"Hey how did it go today?" I asked.

"It actually went well! We got a lot done for the new cd." He said happily. Sometimes he would come home stressed because the recording and writing became overwhelming. "Do you feel any better?"

"Yeah I feel much better!" I chuckled and he kissed me.

"Well I don't have to work tomorrow so we can do whatever you two want." He said and I nodded. If all went as planned then I would be able to surprise him with my pregnancy.

"Dolls Daddy?!" Aubrey asked.

"Yeah baby, we can play dolls." He laughed.

He got down on the floor with her and she handed him her baby doll. I smiled as I watched him feed the baby doll its bottle and rock it to sleep.

The Next Day

Alex and I were setting up for a picnic we were having in the backyard. My order from Amazon came in this afternoon and I thought the best way to give it to him would be with us all sitting together. Aubrey sat down on the picnic blanket while we brought snacks outside for us to eat.

"Is that everything?" Alex asked.

"Yeah...oh wait can you grab your guitar? I want you to play for us." I told him.

"Yeah sure!" He went back in to grab it and I sat next to Aubrey and made sure everything was set up perfectly.

Alex came back out and sat his guitar on the ground next to him. We sat quietly for a little bit enjoying the weather and each other. I handed Aubrey some grapes and she took them and climbed into Alex's lab. He wrapped her in his arms and kissed her on the cheek, making her giggle. Seeing him do cute things with her made me want to tell him immediately.

"What are you thinking so hard about?" Alex asked me.

"Nothing." I smiled and looked down.

"It's not nothing. Come on tell me." He chuckled.

I looked back up at him and then looked at his guitar. "Um I was thinking I wanted you to play a song for us on your guitar." I told him.

"Okay, what song do you want to hear?"

"Remembering Sunday." It was my favorite acoustic song by All Time Low.

"You got it." Alex picked up his guitar and then he looked around and sighed. "Hold on I forgot to grab a pick." He started to get up but I stopped him.

"Wait I have one right here." I pulled the pick out of my pocket and handed it to him. I purposely hid his so he wouldn't think to grab one while rushing.

"Thanks." He said and started the song. It didn't surprise me that he hadn't noticed the surprise yet. I moved to sit next to him and lay my head down on my shoulder as he played.

He sung the entire song to Aubrey and I and kissed me when he finally finished.

"I love that song." I said.

"I love you." He told me.

I placed my hand in his and he kissed it. He looked down as he played with the pick I gave him. Then he stopped and just stared at it.

"Soon to be dad?" He read it out loud.

"Hmm?" I hummed.

"The pick that you gave me says soon to be . . . dad." He looked at me confused and I tried to stop myself from laughing at his confusion. "Jack?" He asked.

"Yes." I answered.

"Are you...?"

"Yes."

He stared at me for a moment and then pulled my lips to his without saying another word. He kissed me passionately and I felt a tear hit my cheek.

"I'm sorry." He chuckled and apologized as he pulled away. He wiped at his eyes. "These are happy tears."

"Thank God. I was worried that you would be kinda be stressed out."

"Are you kidding? I get to have another baby with you. Of course I'm happy!" He kissed me again. "Is that why you were sick yesterday morning?"

"Yeah. Kellin made me take a pregnancy test yesterday and it was positive." I told him and he kissed me again.

"I'm literally the luckiest guy in the world." He said, making me blush. "I have to tell my mom and dad!" He exclaimed.

"Yeah I told my mom and May yesterday."

"Oh god. Does your mom hate me more now?" He sighed.

"Alex my mom doesn't hate you." I chuckled.

"She doesn't like me either." He pouted and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Aubrey you're going to have a little sister or brother!" I told her and she frowned.

"Why?" She asked angrily.

"Because I have a baby in my stomach." I kissed her check, but her frown didn't go away.

"No! Throw it away!" She yelled and crossed her arms.

"Aubrielle that's not nice!" Alex scolded her, but she continued to pout in his lap.

"She'll get over it in a few days." I chuckled.

"Hopefully."

"But since I'm pregnant now and our wedding is in four months I'm going to be pregnant while trying to plan the wedding. So do you think it would be okay for us to get a wedding planner to help?" I asked Alex.

"Yeah of course! I don't want you to stress about the wedding that would be bad for the baby." He began to rub my flat stomach. "Just call around for a planner. I'm sure there are lots of them here in California."

"Okay. I'll look for a wedding planner and a good prenatal doctor so I can make an appointment."

"You've got everything under control." He kissed my forehead. "There's no need to stress about anything."
