Partners in Crime

Alex's POV

I was beginning to worry about Jacob.
I have heard from him for nearly a week which wasn't like him and normally when I call and leave a voicemail he responds within in a few hours or something.
Me and Jack decided that the case we was working on was still in need of more evidence and after telling boss about our theory he agreed that the investigation was still on going so we was just waiting for a new case.

"I'm worried Jack." I said to him as a messed around in the staff room waiting for a case.
"About Jacob? I'm sure he's fine." He said.
"I haven't heard from him in nearly a week Jack! This isn't like him." I said and looked at him.
"Try him again." Jack said and looked at me.
I sighed and tried Jacobs phone again.

After the 5th ring Jacob answered.
"Jacob where the fuck have you been I have been worried sick over you!" I said down the phone.
But the voice which I heard on the other end wasn't Jacobs.
"Alex? What the hell are you doing ringing the victims phone?" Bishop asked.
"What do you mean victim? Why are you answering my brothers phone?" I asked and got up and started to pace round the staff room.
"Alex I think you should come to the crime scene." Bishop said.
"Why? What's going on?" I asked and looked at Jack.
"Alex just come." Bishop said and gave me the address and hung up.
I looked at Jack.
"Alex what's wrong?" He asked and stood up.
"I have a really bad feeling about this Jack." I said.
"Do you want me to come with you?" He asked.
I smiled and nodded.
"Let's get going." He said quietly.

We got to where Bishop said for us to be.
"Bishop." I said and went under the tape.
"Alex stay there." Bishop said and got up and walked over.
"What's going on? Why do you have my brothers phone?" I asked.
"Alex, I need to tell you something." Bishop said.
"Where's my bother?" I asked and looked at Bishop.
"Alex there's no easy way of saying this but your brother is dead." Bishop said and looked down.
"No. No he can't be." I said quietly.
" Alex I'm so sorry." He said quietly.
"Let me look at him." I said.
"Alex I don't think that's wise." Jack said.
"Don't fucking tell me what to do!" I snapped at him.
"No touching Alex." Bishop said seriously.
I walked past him and went to the body.
"Jacob?" I whispered.
He was more beaten up than the last body.
I sniffed.
"Does he have 3 stab wounds on the back?" I asked.
"Yeah." Bishop said.
"And stabbed in the front." I said quietly and stood up.
"The fucking bastard!" I said and walked off.
"Alex where you going?" Jack asked.
"Too work." I said and walked off to work.

I got to work and everyone looked at me.
"Gaskarth my office now!" Boss said.
I turned round and walked to his office.
"I heard about your brother." He said.
I stayed quiet and looked down.
"Alex take the rest off the week off." He said.
"No. I can't go home. I need to work." I said.
"Alex I'm ordering you to take the week off." He said.
"I have to work. If I don't work, then I'll go insane. I'll go back to doing what I did before. Please I'm begging you, I can't go home." I said and felt some tears roll down my face but I quickly wiped them away.
Boss sighed.
"Fine, but you are off the case you and Jack was working on. I'll put you on light duty until I know you are up to it." Boss said.
I nodded.
"Thank you." I said quietly and got up.
"Alex." Boss aid and I stopped and turned round.
"I'm sorry to hear about Jacob. He'll be missed around here." He said.
I nodded and smiled and walked out the room.

I walked to the staff room and sat on the sofa and just stared into space.
I felt someone sat next to me.
I sniffed and they pulled me into their side.
"Its okay. Let it all out." They said quietly.
I moved my head and put it on their shoulder and I just cried.
Big ugly sobs left my body while the person just held me and said stupid little things.
