twenty four.

Alex's POV
I had felt like shit ever since my spat with Olivia. Yes, she'd hurt me and I wanted her to feel my pain, but I had never meant to go that far and question her morals; I was just trying to get her angry, but I pushed it way too far.

It had been about an hour since I'd last seen her, I hadn't even spoken to anyone since. Lisa kept trying to rub my inner thigh with her hand, I kept pushing her away; Rian kept trying to make me do shots, I kept telling him to go to hell.

I shook my head at myself, certain I'd really fucked my chances up now. She had looked so stunning, too. I just wanted to grab her and kiss her, but I was too stubborn and set on ruining her night, that I wouldn't just listen to what she had to say.

I spotted Samuel across the room, dancing with some tall guy and I decided to go over and ask where Olivia was. I had gave her enough space to calm down by now, I figured it was time to apologise and hopefully talk things out.

"Hey, man, sorry to interrupt," I said as I approached Olivia's best friend. He was a beautiful man, which wasn't a word you often use to describe men, but he really did have a pretty face, I could see why he was a model – I'd definitely buy a perfume he was selling.

Samuel removed his hands from the other dude and looked at me questioningly, a polite smile on his face. Samuel and I hadn't really spoke much, but from what I had heard he was a great guy; super funny and nice. "That's okay, what's up?" he yelled a little over the music.

"Uh... have you seen Liv?" I asked, my palms sweating in anticipation. I just wanted to see her and hug her, and take off that red dress – I mean, hug her more.

"Umm..." Samuel mumbled, his eyes darted around the room and then landed back on me, he shrugged and got back to dancing.

Great, I thought. The place was huge and riddled with empty office rooms, which I'm sure were meant to be off-limits but they had slowly began filling with horny people making out. There was some announcement going off about how some catwalk was about to start soon, but I paid no notice as I made my way down the first dingy hallway. I got about half way down and was about to turn back when I heard grunting coming from one of the furthest rooms. I squinted, curious and made my way over.

Peering into the clear little window on the door, I was confronted by a sight that both confused and pained me. There was Derek, Olivia's asshole boyfriend, with his pants around his ankles, bending a brunette over a desk. I don't know if you remember, but Olivia is not brunette. I gulp hard and take another look, trying not to get caught but also trying to make sure it was definitely him.

"Don't... tell... Olivia... about this!" he mumbled between thrusts and I threw my head into my hands – that was proof enough. I leaned against the wall beside the door, shaking my head, I closed my eyes. I had to tell Olivia about this, this changed the whole dynamic of our situation! But, would she ever believe me? I had kissed my ex in front of her and questioned her very morals, all in the same night. I wasn't exactly the most trustworthy guy in the room, as of right now, although I was, at least, a stitch above this fucking prick.

After a couple of minutes, I realised I had just been stood listening to two people fuck whilst lost in my own thoughts, I cringed. I didn't know what came over me but suddenly I was so angry; both at myself and this fucking asshole. I was scared, scared of losing Olivia to a complete pig who didn't deserve her. I mean, I had been a jerk, but at least I hadn't put a ring on her finger and then slept with one of her colleagues at a fucking party she invited me to.

Here I go again, making decisions without informing my brain first; I slammed the door open, the pair of them looking up immediately in fear. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and snapped a picture, "just in case Olivia doesn't believe me when I tell her what a piece of shit you are," I hissed, explaining the photo I had just taken to the confused couple. The woman began scrambling for her things as Derek just looked at me shell-shocked.

I stepped towards him, everything happening almost in slow motion, before I pulled back my fist and punched him square in the nose with force I didn't quite know I possessed. He flew back into the wall, blood erupting from his already purple nose. The woman gasped as she hurried out of the room, her underwear still in her hand. "...and that's because you are a piece of shit," I confirmed, a smug smile on my face as I turned to leave. "Oh wait," I stopped and turned back as if forgetting something. I pulled my phone back out and snapped another picture of him grasping his gushing, bloody nose in pain. "That's just for me," I told him with a shrug before leaving.

I hurried out of there before anyone could tie me to the definite assault that just went down and stopped when my eyes found Jack, chatting up some tall, tanned girl with short black hair. He was pulling his usual, infamous flirting face and I cringed as I made my way over.

"Have you seen Liv?" I asked, still scouring the place for her.

Jack reluctantly turned from the gorgeous model and shot me an annoyed look, "No..." he hissed, flashing a fake smile to the girl and then looking back to me, "now could you please leave?" he spoke through gritted teeth. "Woah!" he exclaimed as he noticed my hand, covered in blood, he grabbed it and pulled it up to look at it better, "what happened?" he asked, inspecting it, now more interested in my hand than the lady.

"Nothing, I fell," I lied, pulling my hand away, "seriously, when did you last see Liv?" I returned the subject back to what was most important, my eyes still searching the dance floor for her pretty blonde head.

"Oh, you fell on your hand?" Jack questioned sarcastically, turning to the modelling and laughing with her at me.

"Dude!" I yelled, focusing on him now, "when did you last see Liv?" I was glaring now.

"I don't know, she got in a cab like an hour ago," he finally answered, his face scrunched in embarrassment as the fact I'd yelled at him in front of this random model.

"What?" I shot him a confused look, "A cab to where?" I asked, but I didn't wait for an answer before jogging out of the building. I saw Lisa come towards me out of the corner of my eye, but I was in a cab directing it to my apartment complex before she could catch up to me.

I had no idea where else Olivia could go, alone. Was there anywhere? We pulled up outside and I threw a $20 bill at him before jumping out and slamming the door. "Thank you sir!" the guy yelled from his open window but I was already bolting up the stairs. I rattled my key in the lock, twisting it incorrectly in my hurry. I cursed myself, and eventually forced my way in and ran up the stairs; I could hear her walking around her room, which was a relief, at least she was okay.

"What... what are you doing?" I asked her, panting and out of breath. I doubled over in the door frame, my hands on my thighs as I tried to recover.

"What does it look like? I'm packing," she deadpanned. I looked up and saw that, yeah, she was packing. She was stepping around, grabbing clothes out of drawers and stuffing them into her suitcase.

"Packing for where?" I questioned, worry on my face as I pushed past the ajar door and into the room, watching her intently. She didn't look mad anymore, just emotionless and tired.

"Alex..." she sighed and looked at me as she threw a shirt into her already full luggage, "I can't stay here."

"Yes, you can," I insisted, looking down at her unsmiling. My heart was beating so fast I could hear it in my throat.

"No..." she laughed, "I can't."

"Where are you going?" I asked desperately, watching as she paced from the drawers and pack to her bags, repeatedly. I grabbed her arm gently, stopping her but she pulled away instantly and looked me in the eyes.

"It's clear that this," she motioned between us, "isn't going to work out, Alex, okay?"

I took a deep breath and rubbed at my face in frustration, "I know I said some stupid shit but I didn't mean it," I grabbed her face between my sweaty palms and looked at her, my chest felt so heavy, "you know I didn't mean any of it," I whispered, my voice dripping with sincerity and desperation.

She gave me a small, sad smile before peeling my hands away, "I know," she nodded, "and I said some stuff I didn't mean, too," she admitted, referring to all that stuff she said about us sleeping together being a mistake, "...but I think this is for the best."

"What? What's for the best? You walking away?" my voice raised a little, I refused to give up without a fight.

She shook her head and looked down, exhaling through her nose, "I need to leave," she looked up now, she looked like she had been crying, "so you can get on with your life..."

"B-but... but I want you in it," I whispered. I felt so weak and lame, I couldn't believe how fast my heart rate was. Adrenaline coursing through my veins as my hands shook viciously.

She shrugged, another sad smile, "I'm sorry," she turned to grab another shirt.

"Well... where are you going?"

"New York," she answered, avoiding eye contact.

"With Derek?" It pained me to even say his name. I had to show her the photos, but I didn't know how she would react and the last thing I wanted to do was hurt her further. She looked up and raised her eyebrows as if to say yes, before looking back down at her luggage, trying to fit everything in.

I took a deep breath, "You're not going anywhere with him," I said sternly and she looked up at me questioningly.

"What?" she narrowed her eyes, a confused smile.

"I mean it..." I practically ordered her, I felt like such a dick, but it had to be done, "He's a fucking asshole," I seethed.

She rolled her eyes and shook her head, "Alex..." she breathed, ready to lecture me on how I was being pathetic and ridiculous.

Before she could continue, I whipped out my phone and pushed the image of her fiancé defiling another woman across an office desk, into her face. I didn't say a word, just showed her the image and she instantly grabbed my phone from me. She stared at it, emotionless, before falling back to sit on the bed, her head in her hands, my phone now in her lap.

"I'm sorry..." I whispered, kneeling down in front of her, placing one hand on her leg, trying to comfort her.

"No you're not," she shot back, her head still in her hands. It hurt, but she was right. I wasn't sorry. Yes, I felt for her and wished it hadn't happened like this, but I was more than happy to throw Derek under the bus and show her what an awful person he was.

"Why do I care?" she laughed nervously, her voice laced with tears as she spoke. She looked up to meet my eyes, her own swimming with tears, "I did it to him!" she looked away and bit her lip. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into me as best I could whilst still crouching in front of her. "What's this?" she asked, less sad. I pulled away and followed her gaze down to my phone. She must've brushed it with her arm or something because it was now showing the photo of Derek and his bloody nose.

"Oh... that's just..." I trailed off, laughing nervously as I reached to get my phone back, but she grabbed it from me. She sniffled, using her finger to wipe under her nose, as she stared at the picture I had taken moments after hitting Derek in the face.

She started chuckling as she looked up at me, "did you hit him?" she asked, a small smile on her face, shocked.

"I... I sure did," I admitted, using my thumb to wipe away some of her tears as she continued to giggle at the picture, shaking her head.

"I can't believe you," she laughed, her smile wide. I shrugged in response, and she wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me into a hug, "thank you" she whispered. I honestly wasn't too proud of what I had done, but knowing it had cheered Olivia up, to know he was at least physically hurt, was enough for me to feel a little smug.

She pulled away from me slowly, our faces brushing against each other, my eyes on her lips as she stopped her face just a few inches from mine. I meet her eyes and they're filled with gratefulness, apologies and possibly, lust. My heart hammers against my chest as my breathing becomes heavy, I gulp loudly and the corners of her mouth twitch upwards at the blatant evidence that I'm nervous – shock.

Her arms are still around my neck and she used them to pull me into her, kissing me hard on the lips. This was the first time she'd initiated a kiss and I wasn't sure how to react at first, I was just in shock. I moved my lips with hers, my hands finding her waist as I hoisted her up the bed, causing her to giggle, before I climbed to hover over her.

She grabbed me and pulled me down onto her, before flipping me over so that she was now on top of me, straddling me. The movement caused her luggage to fall to the ground and she pulled away from the kiss to gasp, before brushing it off and kissing me once again. I chuckled into her soft lips, one hand on the back of her neck, pulling her closer.

I felt her hands begin to struggle with my tie, pulling at it relentlessly until I was almost choking. I pushed her hands away and undid it myself, looking teasingly at her as I did so, coughing a little. She laughed and covered my lips with hers once again; both of us desperately and hungrily tasting each other. The magnetic connection between us was so strong, I couldn't believe there was ever a time in my life when we weren't kissing. To be honest, there might not have been, I had forgotten everything else that had ever happened in my life already. She began quickly unbuttoning my shirt with no struggle, I pulled away for a second to give her an impressed look and she just rolled her eyes as she began yanking my arms free.

As we kissed, her hips grinded ever-so-slightly, her sex grazing over my crotch, causing me great frustration. I grunted lightly into her mouth and she moved down, sprinkling light kisses along my jaw bone and down to my neck; licking and sucking, causing me to moan more. I wasn't that big of a moaner really, during sex, and so the fact that she was retrieving these noises from me was rather shocking.

She began unbuckling my belt, unbuttoning my pants and zipping them open. I helped her out and I kicked them off, along with my dress shoes and socks. She was making quick work of undressing me, yet she was still full clothed.

"Nah, this isn't fair..." I muttered, my eyes closed in pleasure as she bit at my neck whilst teasing me over my boxers. I began trying to unzip the gorgeous red dress she was in, but I was struggling to get it down all the way. She laughed at my failed attempts and removed her hand from my bulge and used it to undo the rest of the dress. She slipped it over her head to reveal that she had been going, not only braless, but commando all night. I groaned loudly at the sight, causing her to giggle as she freed my engorged member from my boxers.

Lowering herself onto me, she let out a loud whimper. "Are you okay?" I panicked a little, but she just giggled, blushing as she nodded. It took a while for her to adjust to my length, especially in this position, but after a while she got a steady rhythm going; bouncing up and down on me, grinding her hips into me. I felt myself so close already. I held her at the waist, helping her with her movements, my eyes closed as I leaned back into the headboard.

Every time I opened my eyes I saw her stunning face, scrunched in pleasure, chewing at her lower lip, her hair slick with sweat, her breasts moving in sync with our rhythm. That sight alone was enough to have me teetering on the edge of climax. I used one hand to tease one the buds of her breasts, earning louder, approving moans from her. "Alex..." she groaned under her breath, as I began thrusting up into her, matching her pace.

I could feel her begin to tighten around me and I knew she was close, I thrusted upwards one last time and felt her reach her orgasm, her legs shaking, her voice cracking as she moaned my name again. I watched her face contort in ecstasy as she came, and that was enough for me. I felt my climax take over me, I grunted desperately as I unloaded into her. Her eyes slowly opened and met mine, she smiled meekly; shy and embarrassed, as she planted a kiss on my sweaty forehead, before rolling off of me to lay beside me.

Pulling the duvet out from under us and covering our naked, sweaty, tired bodies with it, I brought her under my arm. Her head rested on my chest – right where it should be – as we both just lay in silence, thinking about what had just happened. I had barely had any time to even process it before it was already happening, not that I was complaining.

I heard her yawn adorably and planted a kiss on the top of her head. "I'm sorry," I said after a little while. I knew I had already said it, but I felt it needed to be repeated.

"I'm sorry, too," she smiled, looking up at me for a second before dropping her head back onto my chest.

We had both acted like complete idiots – more so me, than her, but still. We were both just so afraid of the clear connection we have and what that might mean, that we both went out of our way to lie to each other and try to hurt each other, it was stupid and dumb. I knew that this complicated mess that we were in wasn't over, Derek wasn't completely out of the picture, life wasn't going to just be breezy like that, but she was laid beside me again, and that was all that really mattered to me. My heart was soaring, my mind racing. I really had thought I'd lost her, I thought we were done, I had pushed her too far, but I was incredibly lucky.

My mind flickered back to Lisa, abandoned at that party, with all of my friends who she hates. And Derek, wandering around the party with a bloody nose, trying to find Olivia. I chuckled to myself. What a mess the pair of us had left behind – mostly me. I didn't even dare to think about the amount of questions and things Olivia and I would have to deal with in the morning, all I could think about was right now; a veil of contentment covering the pair of us. I just hoped it would last this time.

I am throwing virtual tomatoes at Derdick. I do not like him even a little bit. I am really glad Alex got to beat him up. Lets do it again for funzies! I really like this story. Someone should probably tell Olivia that she fell for Alex a good long while ago. I think Alex is starting to figure it out. I can't wait to see Derdick and Lisa take the fall. Muahahahahaha.
