Alex POV

I thought today was just going to be another day, another first day of school. I was starting my junior year and I didn’t care; this year things were supposed to change meaning that we got more freedom to do what we wanted. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t dislike school I just thought that my time could be used by doing something worthwhile, I wanted to be a song writer that was my passion. I didn’t need math to be a song writer. I just couldn’t wait to finish school and move out of Baltimore to pursue my dream.
I walked into school expecting the office to be empty so I could pick up my schedule but, it wasn’t a girl I didn’t recognize was stood at the desk. The receptionist was talking to her and she didn’t even look like she was listening her mind must have been elsewhere. She was stunning. She had on a Falloutboy t-shirt which I hoped meant she was a fan of the band and not just wearing it to be cool; I took a good look at what she was wearing and realized no girl who dresses like this one is just wearing that t-shirt just to act cool she must really be a fan of the band. Admittedly I did take a few glances at her ass and it was a very nice one at that.
" AHH Mr Gaskarth will you show our new student where to go please? This is Carlie she is from England and I'm sure she is nervous to be at a new school," the receptionist said calling me over and out of my daze that I was in.
I walked up to the girl and held out my head for her to shake and said “Hi I’m Alex,” as she shook my hand.
“I’m Carlie,” she mumbled, looking up at me with her beautiful blue eyes that made me feel like I was swimming in an ocean just looking at them.
I felt bad for her having to start a new school especially in junior year, it was bad enough for me when I moved from England and I was 7.
I realized I was just stood there staring so I thought I had better say something, “So what’s your first class,” I asked before thinking to myself that it seemed like a really stupid question.
“My first class its….. erm….. its English with Mr Dooley,” she stuttered, her voice was so gorgeous it was like silk.
“Same as me come on I will show you to your locker then we can go to class we have to hurry though because class starts in 15 minutes and you don’t want a tardy on your first day,” I babbled I felt so stupid; how could a girl make me feel like this I felt like I was either staring or asking stupid questions and now I was babbling I really needed to talk to my best friends Jack and Rian about this.
I showed Carlie to her locker which just happened to be a couple of lockers from mine; just great now I can constantly act like an idiot.
“Yo Alex what’s up bro,” My best friend Jack said walking up with Rian and Cassadee Rian’s girlfriend.
Jack bro hugged me and then looked at Carlie who was stood next to me not saying anything. I stood there for a few minutes not saying anything until Cassadee spoke for me, “Alex….. Hey Alex don’t be so rude introduce us to the new girl.”
“Oh yeah sorry everyone this is Carlie. Carlie this is Jack, Rian and Cassadee. Carlie just moved here from England,” I said pointing everyone out for Carlie, she smiled at all of my friends as I introduced her.
“So what part of England are you from?” Cassadee asked Carlie nicely.
“ERM……I’m from Birmingham,” Carlie replied she was still extremely nervous.
“So why you move over here then?” Jack asked rudely, I know he didn’t mean to come across rude but that’s just jack he gets to the point straight away.
I noticed Carlie look at the floor a look of anguish on her face so I changed the subject, “So did anyone hear about the new history teacher?”

CARLIE POV
The question the boy called Jack asked me caught me off guard because I wasn’t expecting him to be so blunt, I looked down at the floor trying hard not to cry in front of these people. Alex and Cassadee seemed nice, I wasn’t sure about Rian but Jack was really out there the complete opposite of me. I was lucky I didn’t have to answer the question because Alex changed the subject.
“So did anyone hear about the new history teacher?” he asked, I looked up at him and smiled and mimed “thank you,” he seemed like the sort of person I could really get on with.
The attention was drawn from me and Jack answered Alex, “Yeah I heard she is fit as fuck.”
As Alex and Jack carried on talking Cassadee and Rian spoke to me.
“Sorry about Jack he is very blunt with what he says,” Cassadee explained making excuses for Jack.
“It’s fine. I just wasn’t expecting the question I guess,” I replied.
We spoke for a few minutes before Alex said that we had to go to English, we said goodbye to Jack, Cassadee and Rian and walked to English.
As we took our seats our Teacher walked in; Mr Dooley was really young by the looks of him no older than 30.
“OK class welcome to your first day of your Junior this is where your life goes away and you have to study more. Now do we have Carlie here?” he said looking round the room.
I put my hand up and he walked over to me and passed me a book and loads of papers and said, “This is the work that you need for this year to be prepared for your SATs. Sorry about that.”
I nodded and he walked to the front of the class. English passed without much trouble, as Alex and I left the class I felt like maybe today wouldn’t be so bad.
