Smooth Criminal

fifteen.

Everyone in my family remained quiet, only the sounds of silverware clinking against dinner plates and people inhaling and exhaling were to be heard as all five of us sat around the dinner table for the first time in God knows how long. I reached across the table for another roll and my father sternly eyeballed my movement.
“So, Stella,” he began to say as I bit into the roll I had retrieved. I looked at him with round, innocent eyes. “I ran into your little group of friends the other night.” He spat out the word ‘friends’ as one would when mentioning rats or bugs or something of the disgusting sort.
“Oh?” I reply nonchalantly. My heart began racing out of my chest and I tried my hardest to stay calm. I took another bite of my roll.
“They were at one of the Halloween parties I busted,” he grumbled. “Alex was with his girlfriend or something. I don’t know. I’ve never seen him with a girl before. He’s usually on his own.” I gulped, almost choking. Parker looked at me with wide eyes and kicked my foot underneath the table.
“Do you know who the girl could possibly be?” Rory asked, obviously clueless.
“No one knows. Normally we just bust Jack and Alex. Sometimes Rian when he’s dumb enough to get caught. Looks like they’ve converted some poor girl into their hoodrat ways,” Dad continued to say. I rolled my eyes at how ridiculous he was being.
They didn’t do anything to me. I did this to myself.
“I’m sure you’ll find out sooner or later, Troy,” Mom said encouragingly, patting my father on the shoulder.
“Yeah, it’s not like those guys aren’t always at some type of party,” Rory chimed in.
“Do you understand why you’re not allowed to hang around those guys, Stella?” Dad’s looking directly at me now, pointing his fork in my direction. I shrugged my shoulders.
“They were at a party. That doesn’t really mean anything…”
“When we busted the house, there was alcohol everywhere and the kids were in the middle of the living room, passing around a bong, Stella. They were up to no good.”
“Alex was smoking?” I questioned him, not even bothering to hide the disbelief in my tone.
Dad nodded his head. “He was the one lighting up when we walked in.”
I couldn’t help but laugh, knowing damn well that Alex hadn’t smoked all night that night. He was with me when the cops came in. My father is such a fucking liar. No wonder I’m getting so good at it; lying is apparently in my DNA.
“Something funny, Stella Lucille?” Dad’s threatening glare made me automatically shut my trap.
“No, sir,” I mumbled. Rory smirked at me, finding some kind of sick pleasure out of the fact that I was just scolded. I remained silent for the remainder of dinner, excusing myself quietly when I was done eating to go finish up my homework.

“So apparently you were doing some sick-ass bong rips on Saturday,” I say to Alex as he was walking me to English the next day. Alex let out a loud laugh and stared at me like I had three heads.
“What?” He managed to choke out through his laughter.
“My dad was trying to tell me last night that you were taking a rip out of the bong that was being passed around Saturday night when him and his squad busted the party.” I rolled my eyes at the memory of the tense ‘family’ dinner the previous night.
“I don’t do drugs, though,” Alex defended himself, still chuckling. “Literally everyone knows that. I’m just not into that kind of thing. I’m already weird enough on my own.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything more true in my entire life.” I smirked at Alex, only to be met with a swift backhand to the back of my head, causing my hair to fall in front of my eyes. “Rude!”
“Me? Rude? Never.” Alex winked at me as we entered Mrs. Krumm’s classroom, taking our seats next to each other.
“I just can’t believe he actually expected me to believe that bullshit,” I went on as other students filled in.
“At least we know that he has no earthly idea that you were there, too.” Alex shrugged and I smiled, happy to know that out of all the shit my dad was trying to throw at him, that my safety was still Alex’s top priority.
“Well,” I started, and Alex’s face fell. “He said he saw you with a girl. So we didn’t go quite as undiscovered as we hoped to have been. Now he’s obsessing over who the new ‘hoodlum child’ is. He’s gonna shit a brick house if he ever finds out it’s his dearest Stella Lucille.” I give him an angelic smile, placing my hands sweetly under my chin for emphasis.
“You little devil, you,” Alex chuckled, pinching my cheeks between his fingers.
“Alright, children.” Mrs. Krumm entered the room and closed the door behind her. “Your projects are due next week.”
Has it already been a month? Seriously? Where the fuck did the time go?
“And I am expecting nothing but perfection from my little angels,” the teacher continued. “With that being said, open your lit. books to page four hundred twenty.”
A sea of giggles erupted from the students as Billy shouted ‘Blaze it!’ obnoxiously from his desk.
“You are all so funny. You should be comedians,” Krumm says dryly and goes on with her lecture for the day.

After school, Alex and I were in his room playing video games. Well, he was playing video games and I was trying to stay on the fucking track while he effortlessly kicked my ass in Mario Kart.
“You fucking suck,” I shouted at him, pushing his shoulder forcefully as he knocked me off the side of the bridge for the millionth time.
“If I recall this properly, it is you who sucks since you’re the one who can’t seem to stay on the goddamn race track,” Alex chuckled at me. I rolled my eyes and tossed my controller across the room. “Sore loser.”
“Jerk,” I shot back at him, sticking my tongue out at him.
“I will bite that tongue right out of your mouth, ma’am.”
“Fucking do it then.”
“Don’t tempt me. I will fucking do it.”
Alex stared at me and I narrowed my eyes at him.
“Come at me, bro,” I challenged him. Without warning, Alex was lunging at me, tickling my sides, as I screamed and giggled. “No, no, no! Sto-o-op!”
“You asked for this!” Alex yelled through his laughter.
“I’m sorry! I take it back!” I shrieked, unable to stop laughing. Alex stopped tickling me, but left his hands on my sides, staring intensely into my eyes.
“You are so beautiful, Stella,” he finally spoke, his voice right above a meaningful whisper. A small blush creeped its way on my face and I looked away. Alex placed his index finger under my chin and turned my face towards his. A soft, simple kiss was placed on my lips and I was melted down to my core. “I really, really like you.”
“I really like you, too,” I whisper back, unable to break the eye contact we were sharing. Alex was the one to break it first by pulling me into him, kissing me passionately. My legs instantly wrapped around his torso as he laid himself on top of me, one of his hands cupping my cheek sweetly. I tugged at his bottom lip with my teeth and he let a low growl form in the back of his throat. Slipping my tongue into his mouth, I effortless dominated the kiss with such ease that took me by surprise.
“You are going to be the death of me, Stella Lucille,” Alex breathed out when we heard the garage door open beneath us. “I thought you’d never made out with anyone before?”
“I haven’t,” I admitted. “I have no idea where all of this is coming from. With you, it all just feels so natural… It feels right.”
Alex smiled at me and winked. “So what’s the latest update on you coming to Texas with us?”
“Um… I mean, clearly, I’m going. I told my mom that I was going to North Carolina with Amanda her mother to visit Amanda’s aunt. So as long as my mom keeps believing that story, I should be good to go. My dad really doesn’t really get any say in the matter.”
“He’ll probably be working anyway. He’s usually working weekends anyway. And with it being the beginning of Thanksgiving Break and all, he’ll be too busy busting parties and such.” Alex scratched the back of head as he rambled on and I couldn’t help but smile at how cute he was.
“It’s going to be the best weekend ever,” Alex continued to say, wrapping his arms around my torso, pulling me into his body. “I can already tell. I get to play a real show for a new crowd who all know my music, I get to travel with my friends, and I get to spend the weekend with my girl. Life honestly couldn’t get any better than this.”
I smiled widely as soon as the phrase left his mouth.
Alex just called me his girl.
The pit of my stomach bubbled with happiness and I closed my eyes, relishing in the moment, never wanting this to end.

Notes

This chapter is all over the place. I'm pretty sure I was half asleep when I wrote it though so that would make some kind of sense. Chapter 18 is being written as of now and I'm so excited. Also I have made the decision to make a sequel for this story. It would make sense, considering the plan I have for the ending of this story. And I feel like if I didn't write a sequel after the brutal ending I'm gonna throw at y'all, y'all would hate me forever. So I'm super fucking excited for that. Hope all is well with y'all. Feel free to drop a comment. I'm always looking forward to see what y'all have to say.

This was one of my absolute favorite stories. I am very curious to know if you are going to continue with this? Because I have to know what happens next.

I don't remember anything. I need to restart this. Damn, all I remember is loving this. Only more reason to read it all again.

Haha, keepin' it real. :) No worries, the only one that was kind of concerning was the Blink-180 because I think that's the first time I've ever seen that. XD But I figured it was a typo.
