What's My Age Again?

Thirty-Two

Today was All Time Low's and Pierce the Veil's last day to be in Baltimore. Vic told Kellin that they were going to be loading their tour buses and leaving at around noon. Right now it was nine am and we were in class. Kellin was trying to talk me into going to speak to Alex one more time before they left. He really thought that I should attempt to tell about me being pregnant, but I didn't think it was such a good idea. I didn't want to tell him something like this and then have it be on his mind all tour.

"Look if we leave at eleven we'll only miss our lunch time if we hurry. We have forty five minutes and even if we're a little late, the most we'll get is lunch detention tomorrow." Kellin said.

"I'm not just worried about being late or whatever. I'm worried about seeing Alex again. He made it very clear last time that it was completely over between us." I told him.

"Well yeah, but he didn't know about that." He pointed to my stomach.

"He won't believe me so what's the point?"

"He won't believe you now, but he will when you actually have him or her."

"He probably wouldn't believe that it's actually our baby."

"You're so negative. Just try to tell him. What's the worst thing that can happen?" He asked and I nodded.

"Yeah I'll think about it."

We went back to working on our photography work until the bell rang. Kellin and I didn't have the same class together so we split up. I went to history and he went to math. I continued to think about if I should go with Kellin or not. It could be super effective or it could be a waste of my time. Especially if Alex is just going to make me cry again.

I didn't pay attention to any information about the World History. I just stared at the board going over different scenarios in my head that could happen. Almost all of them ended in me crying, except for the scenario that ended with Alex and me back together.

The bell rang again, signaling the end of class. I went to Kellin's locker to meet him there. He seemed happy to see me as he walked from his classroom.

"Are you going to come with me?" He asked.

"Yeah I guess it wouldn't hurt." I sighed.

"Awesome! Let's go before a security stops and checks out IDs." Since we were only sophomores we weren't allowed to leave for lunch yet so we had to sneak to our cars so we wouldn't get caught.

We walked to the parking lot and went to Kellin's car. Luckily none of the guards saw us walk out to the parking lot because of all the other kids. It was pretty easy to sneak off now that I thought about it. I got in on the passenger side of Kellin's car and he started it. He took us in the direction of down town Baltimore. That's where the buses were going to pick everyone up.

I felt tense and nervous the entire drive there. I was having second thoughts because I knew Alex really didn't want to see me. Maybe I could just sit in the car while Kellin got out to tell Vic bye. Who am I kidding? Kellin wouldn't let me just sit in the car the entire time.

"Stop worrying, everything will be fine." Kellin said and I looked down at my bouncing leg. It always gave me away.

I felt rocks being flung around in my stomach as Kellin stopped his car in an empty parking lot. There were two giant tour buses on the parked and ready to go.

"Okay remember to breath." Kellin said and I took a deep breath. I didn't even notice that I was holding my breath. I couldn't do this.

"I can't. I can’t get out. I don't want to see him." I panicked.

"Yes you need to do this, Jack. I know it's hard but you need to tell him." He said.

"You don't understand. He doesn't want to see me. He practically hates me."

"He was just angry when he said that. He probably feels really guilty for being so rude to you." He said and I shook my head.

"No. I don't wanna go. Just go without me."

"Come on. I promise it won't be as bad as you think it will."

"How do you know that?" I asked.

"Because you're expecting him to yell at you or for coming here and nothing like that is going to happen." He assured me. "Come on we only have a limited amount of time."

I nodded and opened the door the same time he did. I walked next to him so I could follow him to the front of the buses. The buses were blocking everyone but now we could see the guys loading all of their stuff on. We continued to walk until we were in view of everyone and I immediately regretted coming. They all looked at us as if we were on fire. I didn't like all to be the center of attention so this was killing me.

The guys began to tell their girlfriends goodbye and step onto the tour bus. Kellin went over to talk to Vic and I stood awkwardly in the middle of the lot by myself. Alex finally stepped off their tour bus and saw me. We made eye contact for a split second, but he looked away and went to go say goodbye to Cass.

One by one the guys got in their tour buses. Alex and Vic were the last two standing outside. Vic was still talking to Kellin and Alex began walking to his bus. He placed one foot on the step, but he stopped himself. He turned around and walked towards me. I cleared my throat so I could sound pathetic when he talked to me.

"Look Jack, I'm sorry I was so rude last time we spoke but I think I had every right to be upset." He said.

"You did have every right to be mad. I lied to you for months so I can see why you were.”

“Yeah exactly, plus the whole...experience was illegal. I actually think it would be best for us to pretend this whole thing never happened." He said and I scoffed.

"You want me to just pretend everything we did and our whole relationship never happened?" I asked, trying to ignore the way he cringed when I said 'relationship.'

"Jack, if it ever gets out that I did anything with you, a sixteen year old, it won't only ruin my career it'll ruin Zack's and Rian's too. That's not fair to them. Plus the amount of hate you'd get from our fans would drive you insane. So yes I want you to pretend everything that happened between us never happened. It's what's best."

"Did you even mean it when you said you loved me?” I whimpered.

"Jack." He sighed. "Look you're a great guy I really mean that. I did enjoy our time together, but this just can't happen." He gestured between us.

"Okay." I sniffled. I really didn't want to cry in front of him but it was literally impossible. He stepped towards me like he was about to comfort me but he stopped himself.

"Alex we're ready." Matt told him from the bus door. Alex nodded and told him to give him a second.

"I-I have to go. It was great spending time with you, Jack." He said sadly.

"You too, Alex." I mumbled.

Alex looked to his left and then to his right before stepping close to me. Before I knew it he had placed his lips on mine and gave me a quick kiss. I looked at him with tears in my eyes when he pulled away.

"Alex I-I'm-" I stammered, but I couldn't finish what I was trying to say.

"Goodbye, Jack." He told me. He stepped on the bus and the doors closed behind him.

"I'm pregnant." I finally said, but it was too late.

Kellin walked over and placed his arm around my shoulders. We watch, sadly, as both buses pulled away from the house.

"You didn’t tell him did you?" Kellin asked.

"No. I couldn't do it."

"Jack." He sighed.

"I'm kind of happy I didn't. I don't want to hold him back from doing what he loves." I said truthfully.

"But what about you? You're going to have to drop out of school for a little bit. What about doing what you love?"

"I'll have plenty of time to do those things once he or she is a little bit older." It might have just been my hormones talking, but I felt like I was finally accepting my fate.

"So I'm guessing that I'm not allowed to drag you to any more parties?" He jokingly asked as we walked back to his car.

"Hell no! No more parties, no more dating, no more sex for me." I chuckled.

"What's the point of living if you're not going to do anymore of those things?"

"Raising this monster when it's finally born."

"You should still try to live a normal life at the same time."

"I've lived enough for two life times. Right now I want to focus on being as close to a normal sixteen year old as I can get."

I can't even tell you how good this story came out. Your story line is so strong and your character development was awesome. You were right to hold off the bit about the sequel. Always keep them wanting more. I forget who said that but he was famous and right so we will just go with it. I can't wait to read the sequel. I think Alex's love for Jack will overcome everything. You can't tell your heart what it wants.
