I look up, “Are you Fish-… Zack?!”
Finlee’s face was priceless when she realized I was standing in front of her. I let it sink in for her for a minute or two before I spoke up again.
“I told you that you wouldn’t have to do this alone Fin.”
“Thank you baby,” she said with a smile which then began to fade, “but I don’t think he’s coming. I have been waiting here since noon.”
Just as she said the last word I saw a guy around our age walking towards us. “Are you Finlee Rayne?” he asked nervously as he got to the table.
She just sat there stunned for a second before I knocked her out of her gaze by bumping her side with my elbow. “Uh, yeah; I take it you’re Fisher” she replied.
“I thought that it was you. I saw your eyes from the entrance and knew we had to be related.”
“Really?” she asked kind of excited. “Oh this is my boyfriend, Zack. He came to make sure I wasn’t kidnapped by anyone crazy or anything,” she added.
This received a nice to meet you from the both of us followed by a semi-awkward silence. That is until Finlee spoke up again, “Anyway; what can you tell me about mom and dad?”
I was really curious about my parents so I decided to break the awkward silence between the three of us and asked Fisher to tell me about them.
“Well what exactly do you want to know?” he inquired.
“Anything you’d feel comfortable talking to me about.”
“Uh…Well… Dad, Roger, is a recovering alcoholic who slips up every once and a while. Mom is addicted to pain killers currently because of one of his drunken nights causing her to have a broken hip.”
“Oh my Gah! How’d that happen?”
“He pushed her down the stairs in our condo when I was 15 then left her there for me to take care of her.”
“Is that why she lives in the women’s shelter in Seattle?”
“Yes and no. She originally went there for that reason but now they are back together so she is basically there to get money for her addiction I think. I kind of choose not to talk to them much.”
“What can I know about you also, Fisher?”
“Um… I just turned 25 and am in law school at WSU. I am engaged to an older woman. And I work as a paralegal.”
The conversation between us lasted another half hour before Fisher declared that he had to get to work and left. We said our goodbyes and keep in touch’s and he disappeared from my life again.
“That went well,” Zack said as he looked at me, “you want to go be tourists? I kinda need to spoil you today.”
That last statement kind of worried me. It is so unlike Zack to say something like that. So I just look at him and say, “Why would you need to do that?”
“Since when am I not allowed to spoil my girlfriend?” he returns.
“Wow, answering a question with a question, something’s definitely up. Yes let’s go walk around downtown or something.”
We walk around for a couple hours just goofing off. After a while though we realize we are VERY hungry and head to the Red Lobster in downtown. We continue small talk for awhile before we begin to sit in comfortable silence waiting for our food.
“So... Fin,” Zack blurts out.
“So?” I say as I look at him.
“I need to tell you something.”
“What is it babe?”
“First of all I love you,” he says as he looks at me with worried eyes.
“Just spit it out,” I say back.
“..And secondly we leave next week for tour,” he blurts out really fast.
“What did you just say?” I say getting irritated.
“The guys and I leave next week for tour,” he says as he looks at me. Saying this statement stunned me is the understatement of the year for sure. “Babe, I am so sorry. They moved our Asian tour up a couple weeks.”
“How long have you known?”
“Since the day we got home.”
“AND YOU DIDN’T TELL ME ZACK?!?” now I am really irritated, “WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? IS THIS WHY YOU WANTED TO SPOIL ME TODAY?”
He just looks down and nods.
I decide I can’t deal with this right now and walk out of the restaurant alone. Zack doesn’t come after me. I need to fill out applications for grad school anyway. Time to start those and pack up to go back to VA I suppose.
Zack’s POV
Finlee was really upset when I broke the news to her. I didn’t think it would affect her like it did so it surprised me when she dramatically stomped out of the restaurant to god only knows. Everytime I feel like I am getting back to her good side I do or say something to piss her off, it’s like I am walking on eggshells constantly. We either need to figure each other out or part ways unfortunately.
Finlee’s POV
9 pm
Well I guess it’s time to get this show on the road. I just got to the airport and am looking up the applications I need to fill out on the flight back home. This day started out great but turned sour really quickly so hopefully immersing myself in these will keep my mind off of the issues going on in my head and in my relationship. Guys are just so freaking frustrating to me sometimes. I mean why would he wait until the last minute to tell me that he is leaving for 2 months in a week. I guess I could be overreacting but that’s me so he needs to deal with it.
As time goes on I feel worse and worse for flipping out. I think I am just overly stressed with everything going on. Maybe this is why I can’t live my life and have a boyfriend at the same time, because I am so dramatic.
Once I get back to VA I decide to turn on my phone to see if I got any messages or anything. Just when I thought I got all of the bad thoughts out of my mind I get an email from Fisher. Dear Finlee,
While today went well I think it would be best that we do not get to know each other any further. I have my family to worry about and if Roger were to find out you contacted me I would be cut off. I hope you understand.

I know I said it would be up yesterday but my internet decided it didn't want to work properly so I couldn't get onto google docs to copy it over. I am so sorry. Anyway enjoy :)Oh and BTW new story :)
