Both Sides Of The Story
Don't Wanna Be An American Idiot
“Come on, Gabi. You’re sitting with me.”
My nerves were starting to kick in.
He wanted me to hang out with his friends??
What will I say? I’m so awkward!
I tried to play it cool, and followed him to the table.
“Who’s the cutie?” His friend with skunk hair smirked, referring to me.
I started blushing as I sat down.
“Easy..” Alex chuckled, sitting down next to me. “This is Gabi. She’s new. Gabi this is Jack, Zack, and Rian.” He introduced them to me, pointing to each one individually.
“Hello..” I greeted them, shyly.
“Whoa, you have an accent!” Rian gasped, staring at me in fascination.
“That’s hot..” The skunk haired boy, Jack, winked at me.
I couldn’t do anything but sit and let my cheeks turn the same color as my hair.
“Guys, guys, chill out! You’re making her uncomfortable!” Alex rolled his eyes at them.
I looked at him, silently thanking him with my eyes.
“Hey, are you hungry?” He asked me, with a caring expression.
“Um.. Kinda?” I bit my lip nervously. I didn’t really know how much anything costed.
“Come on, the line is starting to die down.” He stood up, and I followed him to one of the lunch lines.
“So, every food item here is poisonous except for the pizza and any other packaged thing you see here.” He chuckled, causing me to giggle.
“Alright, well I’m fine with some crisps.”
He gave me a weird look.
“Crisps?”
Did they not have crisps here??
“Yes. That.” I pointed to a mini bag someone was holding.
“Ohh.. Chips.” He nodded, understanding.
“You call them chips?” I asked, raising a brow in confusion.
“Yeah. It’s an American thing, don’t worry about it.” He joked, causing me to roll my eyes and smile.
He really helped put me at ease, being here.
We soon walked up to the food, and I picked up a bag of BBQ ‘chips,’ and a bottled fruit juice.
I was surprised when we got to the register, and he paid for it himself.
“Oh! Alex, y-you didn’t have to do that, I-“
“No no it’s okay, I got it.” He assured me, handing me my food.
“O-oh um.. Cheers.”
“That means thank you, right?”
“Yep.” I giggled a bit and walked back to the table with him.
“Hey, Lex!” The one who I believed to be called Zack, exclaimed.
“Yeah, Zee?” Alex answered, sitting down next to me as I started opening up my chips.
“You still coming over for band practice tonight?” Zack asked him.
“Oh yeah, of course. Hey Gabi, you wanna come?” Alex turned to me.
“I’m sorry.. Band practice?” I looked at him, confused.
“Yeah, we’re in a band. I play guitar, if you’re into that.” Jack flirted, smirking at me.
Alex rolled his eyes at him.
“I sing and play guitar, Jack plays guitar, Zack plays bass, and Rian plays drums.”
Wow.
“Oh, that sounds pretty cool. I’ll um.. I’ll try to come over.” I nodded.
“Rad! It’s at Zack’s place after school. I could give you a ride if you want.” Alex offered, with an excited smile on his face.
“Oh yeah, sure. I have to go home first then you could pick me up from there?”
“Yeah, of course. Just text me the address.” He smiled, handing me his phone.
I put my number in, then texted myself, before handing it back to him.
“Great.” He smiled, putting his phone away, and I smiled back.
I wonder how this will go.
