Alex's POV

We followed the nurse to the ICU.
I looked at Fred who looked at me.
I shook my head and slowly backed away from Jack and Fred.
Fred walked towards me.
"You can do it, its not you this time who is in here, its Eric and he needs us." He said quietly.
I looked down and nodded and slowly followed them.
Jack had hold on my hand.

We got to Erics room.
"The doctor will come and speak to you when your parents come." She said.
"Why can't you speak too us?" Fred asked.
"Because he is under age and so are you." She said.
"But he's our brother. You want us too fucking sit there and not know what's wrong with him? Because all we know is he could be dying!" I said loudly and everyone looked at us.
"Alex calm down." Jack said.
"Do not tell me too calm down." I snapped at him and moved away from him.
"I understand but we simply can't speak too you about what is wrong with him." She said.
"But you can speak too our parents about it?" I snapped.
"Well your in no fit state anyway." Shje said and looked at my arms.
"What are you trying too say?" I growled.
"Alex stop it now!" Freddie said and glared at me.
I backed off.
"Can we go in?" Freddie asked and the nurse nodded.
We walked in and I just glared at her.
"Well this isnt good." Fred said quietly.

Jacks POV

We walked into the room and Eric was literally attached to as many cables as the doctors could put on them.
"This isnt good." Freddie said quietly.
Alex looked down as if he knew what Freddie was on about
"I dont understand." I said.
"The last time Eric was like this he fucked his body up good and proper. He might not even make it this time as he was lucky he did last time." Freddie said.
Alex moved away from me and sat on the floor at the foot of the bed.
Freddie sat in the chair and looked at Eric.

"How the fuck am i going to explain this too mum." He said quietly.
"Thats a very good question." A voice said.
We all looked at saw Mrs Gaskarth stood by the door.
"Mum." Alex said and got up and she pulled him into a hug.
Freddie got up but he stayed where he was.
His mum opened her other arm and Freddie walked over and she hugged both Alex and Freddie and I felt really awkward.
Alex was the first one too move away from her.
He looked at me and walked over too me and pulled me into a hug.
"I'm sorry I snapped at you." He said quietly and kissed my chest.
I place a finger under his chin and made him look at me.
"Don't be sorry." I said quietly and kissed him.
"Where's dad?" Alex asked and turned round and looked at his mum.
"He's at home." She said quietly.
"Still can't be here for us. Fucking scum." Alex said.
His mum just let it slide.
She sat in the chair and held Eric's hand.
"I'm here now, I'm not going anywhere." She said quietly.

Alex was sat on my lap and was slowly falling asleep.
Someone knocked on the door and Alex jumped and woke up and looked too see who it was.
"Bloody doctors." He muttered and rested his head on my shoulder.
"Mrs Gaskarth?" He said.
"Yeah." She said and looked at him.
"May I speak too you in private?" He asked.
"Of course you can." She said.
Freddie got up.
"Come on you two, let's go outside." He said.
Alex got off me and I got up as well.
"You sure you don't want one of us too stay?" Alex asked.
"I'm sure, now go." She said.

Alexs POV

We walked outside, me and Fred started smoking Jack stayed close.
"What do you think the doctor has too say?" Freddie asked.
"Dunno, think it's a fucking cheek that dad didnt show." I said
"We both know he not good at this." Fred said.
"Now you sticking up for him? His son is in hospital probably dying and he has got the fucking guts to come and support us." I spat.
"I'm not sticking up for him. I'm just saying." He said.
I didn't say anything.

We went back inside and the doctor had gone and mum was crying.
"Mum?" Fred asked quietly.
"Fred, Alex what you doing here." She said and wiped her eyes quickly and sniffed.
"We'd finished smoking so we came back in since its cold outside." I said.
"Alex you really shouldn't be smoking at your age." She said.
"I said that too him as well." Jack said.
I glared at him.
Mum smiled and chuckled a little.
"What's wrong with Eric?" Fred asked.
Mum looked down and away from us.
"They don't know what's wrong with him part from whatever he has drunk or taken has really fucked up his body." She said and looked at Eric.
"What does that mean?" I asked as this meant nothing To me.
" Out of 100% he has 20% on pulling through." She said quietly.
"He could die?" I asked quietly.
"He could, but he's a figther. When you had that really bad infection, after nearly chopping your arm, the doctors gave you 15% chance of living and look at you now, your healthy, you have Jack." Shje said and looked at me.
"But I didn't mix drugs and alcohol. I'm far from being healthy you know, I have all these problems." I said.
"Your healthy in my eyes despite your problems. You nearly fucking died Alex, but you didn't, Eric is the same. He can pull through this, he has too." She said and a couple of tears fell.
Fred went over and pulled her to his side.
"He'll pull through, he won't leave us." He said quietly.

Mum had fallen asleep and i was sat on Jack looking at Eric making sure nothing happens.
"Go too sleep." Jack said quietly and traced patterns on my hip.
"Can't, need to make sure nothing happens as Fred and mum are asleep." I said quietly.
"Nothing will happen, he's in safe hands here." He said quietly.
"Need to make sure." I muttered.
"Sleep, I know its hard but just try." He said and kissed the side of my head.
I looked at him.
"He's going to be okay isn't he?" I asked.
"I honestly can't answer. But he's a fighter and he will make it." He said.
I smiled.
Jack lent down and kissed me softly.
"Go too sleep, I'll keep an eye on everyone." He said quietly.
I nodded and rested my head on his shoulder.
