Chapter 2
Alex’s P.O.V
I turned to face the boy in front of me. He had skunk like dark hair and a silly smile planted on his face. He was wearing a blink-182 top with some skinny jeans and a jumper. Hm I like this kid already. I snapped out of my thoughts and started to ask him questions.
“So what’s your name?” I asked politely putting on a small smile.
“Jack Bassam Barakat. But most people just call me Jack or my friends call me Barakat.” He replied with a slight giggle.
“Well Mr Barakat which instrument do you wish to study this year?” I asked rather interested as to what sort of instrument he could play or was interested in.
“Um well I play guitar so I was hoping to study guitar for the year. If that’s okay?” He replied hesitantly.
I asked him to go fetch a guitar from the cupboard and play me something. He came and sat back down beside me guitar in hand and started to strum away at a song that was all too familiar to me. All the small things. I couldn’t help myself I started to hum the tune and sing the words. Before long I was belting it and Jack seemed to be getting right into the guitar. The song ended and the whole class just stared at us before clapping and cheering as loud as they possibly could.
“Wow where did you learn to sing like that?” He asked with a shocked expression on his face.
“I used to be in a band in high school Mr Barakat. And well done on the guitar, it would be wrong of me to tell you not to study it this year. You may return to your seat now” I smiled.
The bell rang and class ended. I dismissed the class but asked Jack if he wouldn’t mind hanging back a few moments so I could speak to him. He told his friends he would catch up and shut the door.
“Well Mr Barakat, It seems we have gotten of to a good start and I suspect it is going to be a good year. I have this song I think you might like to practice on the guitar, I will give you this copy of the sheet music and you can have a look at it. You may leave now. Please close the door behind you and oh one more thing I really like your shirt!” I said sending a seductive wink in his direction. The boy just giggled and headed out closing the door behind him like I asked.
