The Essex Affect

We entered my house, me carrying Alex’s huge box of candy canes and set them on the table in the living room. He complained to me the whole trip to my house, every single word coming from his mouth was about the box of candies. I found it funny, because the whole time he had a blush on his face. Which, I found the most adorable thing ever. “Now tell me, how much of these candy canes did you buy and how much did the others get?” He questioned me.

“I ordered half of them. I’m sure you can do the math on that. Now, stop talking about them and just enjoy them you adorable thing.” I said pecking him on the lips as I stood over him, where he sat on the couch. “Would you and little man want something to eat?”

“We always want food.” He giggled, making me smile.

“Coming right up, cutie.” I placed another peck on his lips and walked out of the living room, and into the kitchen. It was finally winter break and I was really happy. Alex was going to be here with me all ten of these days, and we were going on to his place Christmas morning, so that he can be with his family. Which meant, I had to meet the rest of his family that was coming over, and I was pretty nervous about that. I mean, what if they didn’t like me? What would happen then? But, after all that at his house is over, after we eat dinner with them and everything, Alex and I were coming back to my place and opening gifts that we got each other.

I really do hope that he enjoyed what I got him. It wasn’t much, but it was what I thought he would like. I got him a few different band shirts, a couple beanies, just random odds and ends that I knew he would like, even a new ipod since his broke last month. But the thing I got him, that I hoped he liked the most, was a little baby onsie. It was black and had the Green Day logo on it, and the last thing I got him was a black string necklace with a diamond “A+J+P” connected to it, which I hope he understood.

By the time I was done with my thoughts, I finished making Alex two sandwiches and got him a can of soda. I grabbed the plate and the can and went back into the living room, seeing him sitting on the couch, eyes glued to the tv, where he had Netflix pulled up and playing a movie I have seen many times called New Hope.

I walked over to the couch and handed him the plate and the can, him taking them with a small thank you and smile as he placed them on the table next to his side. He looked so cute just sitting there and just being himself. Moments like these were the best thing that I could ever imagine, so I took a minute to lay down on the couch next to him, laying my head on his lap and lifting his shirt up a bit to see his ever growing child. “What are you doing?” He questioned as he looked down to me, but I ignored him and just placed my lips on his tummy, earning a little kick to them from Phoenix. “You are so weird, Barakat.” He laughed, a laugh that I loved.
