Barakat, Jack Barakat
Amy woke up to the light streaming in from the windows. She turned over to face the empty spot next to her.
“Ah fuck” she slapped her hand to her forehead recalling the previous night. She lay alone with her thoughts. He didn’t seem upset. He took it quite well. Maybe he was just being nice? What if he’s actually angry? What if I get up and he’s gone? She began to work herself up into a panic. No no no no no no no. I won’t let myself think like that. She threw the covers off of her and dragged herself up. She slowly made her way down the stairs.
“Jack?” she called out. Silence.
“Jack, you up?” still silence. Her stomach dropped, mind automatically assuming the worst.
She walked into the kitchen and stopped dead.
“I was wondering when you were going to wake up” Jack smiled.
“I, uh, made you some breakfast” he said, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Well, I tried to, anyway” he gave a nervous smile. Amy felt her heart swell at the simple gesture. It was only food, but he had gone out of his way to try and surprise her when she woke up. She knew Jack wasn’t the best cook, but damn, she would eat it. If edible, that is.
“Jack… you didn’t have to do this” she smiled.
“No no, I wanted to. It’s not much, and it probably isn’t very good, but I want today to be special. Make up for lost time when I was away. I want you to forget all about your worries and anxiety today” he smiled warmly at her.
“We can do whatever you want” he grinned. He didn’t have to mention her recurring nightmares for her to figure out that’s what he meant by worries and anxiety. She stood grinning like an idiot.
“Come here, you big idiot” she waked over to him, pulling him into a kiss. Soft and gentle at first, however it heated quickly. Tongues battling for dominance as they explored each others mouths, soft groans emitting from both throats. Jack surprisingly was the one to stop it as Amy went to pull off his t-shirt. She stood, slightly dazed staring at him.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for morning sex, hell, sex anytime of day, but the food is gonna go cold and I’m proud of that shit” he laughed. Amy rolled her eyes, laughing as she went to tackle the food.
Throwing her fork down in defeat, she sighed in contentment.
“I gotta say Jack, that was pretty good” she smiled at him, earning a wink.
“Now, what do you want to do today?” he asked.
“First, I need a shower, but maybe we could go out for something to eat, maybe to a bar afterwards for a drink?” Jack chuckled.
“Now I know why I love you” he smiled. He walked over to her, grabbing her hand and pulling her up the stairs.
“Jack, what are you doing?” she laughed.
“I’m joining you for a shower. Got to save water, right?” he winked at her. She laughed at his enthusiasm and impatience to get up the stairs.
After a rather steamy shower, in more ways than one, the pair had spent the afternoon walking around town. After food they had decided to just stroll around, window shopping. Being one who was drawn to bright, sparkly things, Amy spotted a jewellery store, heading straight for it to look at an elegant diamond necklace that was the centrepiece in the display case. Full of wonder staring at this necklace, she hadn’t noticed Jack looking at other items.
Jack spoke, pulling her out of her thoughts.
“You do know I’m going to marry you one day, Amy?” Amy stood, unsure of what to say. It was quite a shock as she’d never really seen Jack as someone who would want to eventually settle down and commit his life to one person. Looking up at him, eyes full of love and admiration for this man, she realised that she had stood there, leaving him in his own thoughts. He stood, panicking. Had he scared her? Did she even want to get married someday? Oh god, what have I done?
“Jack…” she placed her hand on his cheek.
“You’re just full of surprises today, aren’t you?” she laughed.
“And yes. Of course you’re going to marry me one day. Can’t get rid of me that easily” she winked, easing up the tension. He let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding in, leaning down and kissing her. He wasn’t a fan of PDA, however in this moment, he couldn’t care less what the people around them thought. He pulled back, smiling.
“Now come on, we’re going for that drink” he grinned, pulling her off to one of his favourite bars.
The pair stumbled into their apartment after 10 minutes of trying to get the key in the door. In the end, the taxi driver that had dropped them off had to help the highly intoxicated couple. As soon as the door was shut, Amy pulled Jack into a kiss, pulling him by the collar towards the couch. She lay down gently as Jack hovered over her, never breaking the kiss.
“Jack” she giggled. He let out a slight hum.
“I really want to do this, but I can’t be bothered taking my clothes off” she laughed. Jack pulled away staring at her.
“Neither can I” the pair burst into a fit of laugher, unsure as to what they were even laughing at. Jack leant down, attaching his mouth to her neck. He bit down gently as she arched her back up into him. She felt him swirl his tongue over the spot and then… nothing.
“Jack?” she asked confused. She heard small snores coming from the mans mouth.
“Are you serious right now?” she pushed at his chest and watched as he rolled off of her and hit the floor.
“Ow, what the fuck?” he sat up confused, holding his head.
“I think it’s time for bed” he sat looking like a child, holding his arms up at her and grabbing at thin air with his hands.
“Carry me” he pouted.
“I’m not carrying your fat ass up the stairs” she laughed at his childish behaviour.
“I’ll sleep down here then” he huffed, folding his arms across his chest.
“Fine by me” she rolled her eyes and headed for the stairs, fully expecting him to follow after her. Nope, she turned back to see him completely passed out on the floor, snoring again.
“What did I ever see in him?” she laughed, heading up the stairs to put her own drunken ass to bed.
