A Love Like War

The Day We Have All Been Waiting For.

Jack

Three years later

Today was finally the day. Today was the day I was finally going to marry the love of my life. I just wish my Mom and Dad where here to see this. Mom would be crying that he baby boy is growing up, and Dad would be patting me on the back and giving me relationship advice. I missed them, I really did, but I know they are happy for me.

“Daddy!” I heard the voice of my beautiful daughter say as she opened the door. I turned around and saw my little girl. She was now nine years old, and was our beautiful little flower girl. She was growing up way too fast, but I love every minute I spend with her. She ran up to me and I picked her up just as I finished tying my tie.

“Hey beautiful!” I said to her. She giggled.

“I just talked to Papa, he’s really nervous. He wanted me to come and ask you how you are so calm right now?” She said. I set her down on the ground and sat in the chair behind me.

“Well, you can go and tell Papa that I’m not calm. I may look calm on the outside, but on the inside I’m freaking out.” I chuckled. “Also, tell him that I love him with all my heart.” I pulled her over to me and placed a big kiss on her cheek. “And I also love you pumpkin!”

“Okay! Love you too, Dad. I’ll see you out there. Plus, you look really nice. Oh, and uncle Rian and Uncle Zack said they will be in, in a minute.” She pulled out of my grip and skipped to the door.

“Alright! See you soon beautiful!”

It was officially time. I was standing at the altar, waiting for the love of my life to walk down that aisle. My beautiful daughter stood off to the side as she just got done walking down and throwing out her flowers. I looked over to her and made a goofy face, which made her laugh and Cass shake her head at me, but I saw a hint of a smile on her lips.

The music started playing and the huge doors opened. I looked and out came my soon-to-be-husband. I stared right into his eyes, and I noticed he was blushing a bit. I let out a small chuckle and waited for him to reach me.

He finally took his place next to me and we both smiled at each other. It felt like we were the only people in the room. I was madly in love with this man and there is no one that can take that away from me. I was broken from my love trance as the Minister began to speak.

The time had finally come for us to recite our vows to each other, and we agreed to write out own. I was up first, and I was more than nervous.

“Alex, I consider it an honor and a privilege to be the one you have chosen as your life's mate. I promise to be a true and faithful husband to love you respect you and be honest with you always.

I promise to be supportive of your goals and as you grow intellectually, emotionally and spiritually, I will be by your side rooting, for you all the way. Never be afraid to confide in me. I promise to be a good listener and a safe confidant. You are always welcome in my innermost world, and I promise to share my goals and ideas with you. As we grow together throughout our marriage, there are no limitations on the possibilities of your relationship and I hope we never realize just how high our high can be. I believe in you, Alex, and I will be there for you always.” I ended and noticed Alex had a few tears trailing down his cheeks.

I lifted up my hand and wiped away the few stray tears as I let out a small chuckle. It was now Alex’s turn to recite his vows to me.

“I want to start off by saying, there is no way my vows are as amazing as that.” He said, making everyone in the room laugh, even him. “But here it goes. You have been my best friend, mentor, playmate, confidant and my greatest challenge. But most importantly, you are the love of my life and you make me happier than I could ever imagine and more loved than I ever thought possible. You have made me a better person, as our love for one another is reflected in the way I live my life. So I am truly blessed to be a part of your life, which as of today becomes our life together." He finished, and now it was my turn to wipe a tear from my cheek.

“The rings, please.” The Minister said. Rian walked over to our side and handed us each a ring. Alex placed mine on my ring finger, as I placed his on his ring finger. “You may now, kiss the husband.” I put my arms around his waist and brought him in for a passionate kiss as everyone in the room cheered for us.

We pulled away and we both had the brightest smiles ever on our faces. “I love you so much, Alex.”

“I love you, too, Jack.”
