One Month Later
We brought Miracle home yesterday, and she was doing really well, I was as well. She surprisingly didn’t have any broken bones. Me, on the other hand, still had a few broken ribs plus my broken arm. I haven’t been back to work since the crash, but Matty was more than willing to fill in for me even if he doesn’t work there anymore, which I could never thank him for enough.
“Daddy?” I turned around, since I was in the fridge getting a bottle of water and saw my baby girl standing there with Boo right next to her.
“What’s up sweetheart?” I asked as I bent down. I was able to control the pain of my broken ribs more now that they are somewhat healed, but it still hurt a tiny bit.
“Can we dance around to Green Day?” She asked with an innocent smile. I swear, this girl was raised by me no doubt. She is like Alex and I both in so many ways, and I love that.
“Sure baby.” I said as I stood up and grabbed my water off the table and we walked into the living room. Miracle stood in the middle of the living room as Boo jumped up on the couch and curled up. I swear we have the laziest cat in the world.
I went over to the radio and grabbed the first Green Day CD I saw, right next to it. Which was the Nimrod album. I put it in and waited for it to start up as I went over to Miracle.
Once the CD started, Miracle started jumping up and down and I joined her in her little antics, but a lot more calmer as I didn’t want to hurt myself. I still don’t understand where Miracle got all her hyperness from, Alex would argue that she got it from me, but I don’t think I’m all that hyper. Am I?
We continued to dance around the room till it got to the middle of the song Take Back, where we both heard someone clear their throats. We looked over and saw Alex smirking at us. “Oh please, continue. Don’t let me ruin your fun.” He spoke with a giggle.
“Dada!” Miracle yelled as she ran up to him. He bent down and picked her up and brought her into a huge hug.
“By the way Jack. I so video recorded that, and it is so going on all of my social media.” He continued his small smirk.
“I don’t care. Just shows how awesome of a Dad I am, right Miracle?” I asked my baby girl as I went up to them. She nodded her head with a huge smiled and I placed a kiss on her cheek. “Alright sweetheart, go upstairs and get ready for your bath, we will be up in a minute. Daddy needs to talk to Dada for a minute okay?” I asked her as Alex set her down on the ground. She nodded her head and ran upstairs.
“What did you need to talk to me about?” He asked with confusion. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the ring I bought all those years ago.
“I would get down on one knee. But I think I might break something else if I do.” I chuckled. “But Alex, will you marry me? For real this time? Not let anything stand in our way, as I love you more than I love life itself. Both you and Miracle.”
“Yes. Yes I’ll marry you Jack.” He smiled at me. I placed the ring on his finger, the only finger that ring should have ever belonged to. I placed my lips onto his and gave him a passionate kiss.
