Jack

I didn’t get any work done yet, and I had been at work for about four hours. I did nothing but sit in my office and cry as I held onto myself. People kept walking by my office window, the same people, over and over again with the look of pity on their faces. I couldn’t take those looks, they just made me feel even more upset. Before I could continue my thoughts, My office door opened and in walked Matty, shutting the door behind him and walking over and bending down next to me.

“Alright Jack, I just had four people come into my office and tell me you were crying. Everyone out there is really worried about you. What’s going on?” He asked as he placed a hand on my shoulder.

“Fucking Gaskarth is what’s going on.” I spat.

“Are you two fighting again? Jack, you two have been at each others necks since the beginning of Miracle’s life in Alex. This is not healthy for any of you. Not one bit.” He tried to reason with me.

“But I love him, Matty.” I cried out again.

“I know you do, but this isn’t good whatsoever. You need to start thinking about yourself. No one but you and Miracle.” He sighed. “I’m not saying you need to break up with him, but it’s all up to you. You do what you think is best for yourself.” I nodded my head, taking in everything he just said. He was right, one hundred and ten percent right. “Now, go on home, you don’t have much work to do anyways I’ll just do it.”

I stood up and grabbed my stuff before giving Matty a hug and telling him thank you for everything he has ever done for me. I walked out of my office, seeing people looking at me. I put on a faked smile, but I knew they could see through it as they put on theirs as well. I went out into the parking lot and into my car, starting it up and driving off after wiping the stray tears from my eyes with my sleeve.

I pulled into the parking lot of the closet Walmart, and went in. I promised I would bring my baby girl home a gift, and that was what I was going to do. I walked thru all the aisles, finally reaching the little girl toy section. Miracle loved to dress up, so I grabbed a little pink barbie princess outfit that came with a crown and wand. Also grabbing a couple of new barbies as well.

After grabbing the things I wanted my princess to have, I walked to the checkout, but not before grabbing myself a couple of Monster energy drinks first. I paid for the items, and picked up the bags as I gave the woman a small smile. I made my way out of the store and back into the parking lot and making my way over to my car. I pulled out of the parking lot and made my way back home, hoping to just go in, give Miracle her gifts and get Alex to talk to me for a few minutes.

I reached my house in about fifteen minutes time, and took my time getting out of my car. I wasn’t ready to face my fears, but it had to be done. What was going to happen, was what needs to happen. It’s for the better, right?

I opened the front door and walked in with the Walmart bags at my side. “Miracle! Daddy brought gifts!” I shouted out into the house. Soon hearing a small pair of feet running from the kitchen and into the living room. I dropped the bags and picked up my princess as she ran into my arms. “Hey baby! Did you have fun with Dad today?” She nodded her head and clapped her hands together, she was so cute. I gave her a quick kiss and put her back down, me bending down and pulling the bags in front of me. “Okay, you can have your gifts if I get another hug.” I smiled at her.

She giggled and threw her arms around me the best she could. I gave her a hug back and soon pulled away, grabbing the bags and pulling out the three barbies I got for her, first. She cheered with joy as I opened them for her and set them on the ground in front of her. I then pulled out the barbie princess dress, wand, and crown, and she gasped as she took it all in. “You like it sweetheart?” She nodded her head quickly and smiled a huge smile.

“On! On!” She said with excitement. I smiled and put the dress and crown on her, handing her the wand as she ran away after Boo, acting like she was zapping her with it. It made my heart so warm to see her so happy. I looked up in the doorway of the kitchen and saw Alex standing there looking down at the ground. I stood and and looked at him.

“I think we need to talk.” I said. He nodded his head and we both sat on the living room couch, him trying to sit closer to me, but I backed out a bit so that we were sitting on different sides of it. He sighed and played with his hands.

“Where do we start?” He asked looking up at me with his big brown eyes.

“I’m not going to beat around the bush Alex. I’m just going to come out and say it.” He looked at me with a confused face. “I think we should break up.”
