Jack

I finally managed to get Miracle to sleep after Zack left to get some food for us. I hadn’t stopped crying since I reached Zack’s house. Is this how Alex felt when I smoked my lungs to death? Is this all the pain I put people through back in high school? I heard the front door open and shut, then the sounds so running feet. I looked up and wiped my eyes and saw a out of breath Zack. I looked at him confused and he spoke.

“I lied. I didn’t go to get food. I went to see Alex, I was pissed off. I didn’t touch him or anything, I promise. But I fucked up big time Jack. I fucked up so bad that I wouldn’t blame you if you hated me for the rest of your life.” I was so confused at this moment, I stood up and walked over to him.

“Zack, calm down and tell me what happened.” I said in a calm voice. He took a deep breath and spoke.

“I found Alex on the sidewalk. I yelled at him and told him I wish he would just disappear from your life. I tried to take it back, I didn’t mean to say it. But before I could, he up and ran. I tried to keep up with him but I couldn’t. Jack, he ran away again.” He spoke, calming down a bit more. That’s when what he said hit me.

“What the fuck, Zack?! You know he can’t take people saying that kind of shit!” I yelled. Then I heard crying from Zack’s room. I sighed and went down the hallway, opening his door and seeing my babygirl sitting up on Zack’s bed. “Hey sweetie. I know you heard me yell. Daddy didn’t mean it. Here, come on. You are going to go and stay with Grandma and Grandpa Gaskarth for a little bit. Daddy and Uncle Zack need to go do something.” I picked her up and she instantly stopped crying. That’s something else I loved about her. Every time she was crying, and I picked her up, she would always calm right now.

I walked back down the hallway with her diaper bag on my arm. “Come on Zack. We’re dropping Miracle off at Alex’s parents house. Then we are going to look for him. Even if it takes all night.” I spoke. He nodded his head and we walked out the house.

I called Isobel and Peter on the way to their house, and told them everything that’s going on. They were more than happy to watch over Miracle while we looked for Alex. I pulled into their driveway and they met us in the driveway.

I handed Miracle to Peter, and Isobel spoke to me before I got back in the car with Zack. “Please find my son, Jack.” She whispered. I nodded my head and gave her a hug.

“I’ll do everything I can. I won’t stop until I know he is safe and back home.” I said to her. She pulled away from the hug and nodded her head. I got back in the car and drove off, with Zack on my side. Yes, I was pissed off with him right now. But I needed his help. The first place I was going to look at, was the lake.

We arrived at the lake about two hours later, and both Zack and I got out of the car. Zack already knew this place, as he was one of the people who helped me set up the promposal for Alex.

“Alright, we can cover more ground and look around more if we go different ways. You take the right, I’ll take the left.” I said to him. He nodded his head and took out his phone to use as a flashlight, which I did the same as it was starting to get pretty dark. “Text me if you find him. Meet me back her at the car in one hour if we don’t find him before then.”

We spilt up and began our search. I took the left side of the lake, and Zack took the right. I agreed to take the left because I knew Alex loved to lay in this certain spot at the bay of the shore. But when I reached it, I didn’t see Alex there whatsoever. “Where the fuck are you, Lex?” I whispered to myself.
