One Month Later
Today was the night of my first lacrosse game here at college. I was so pumped I couldn’t sit still for a minute. I was currently on the field practicing with my team when I saw my fiance and daughter walk in the fence.
“Yo, guys. I’ll be right back.” I said to my teammates. I heard rounds of ‘okays’ and I jogged up to my two loves. Once I got to them I took off my helmet and smiled at them. “Hey cuties.” I said as I placed a kiss on Alex’s lips, then one on Miracle’s forehead.
“You looked pretty good out there, baby.” Alex said with a smile.
“Haha thanks. I’m going to bring home the win for the team tonight. But, I feel like if I do, it’s mostly for you and Miracle.” I put down my lacrosse stick and held out my hands for my baby girl. Alex smiled again and handed her over to me. “Hey sweetheart. You ready to watch Daddy kick some butt tonight?” She giggled and I couldn’t refrain from smiling at her. She was just so damn adorable, just like her Dad.
“Barakat! Back on the field!” I heard my coach yell.
“Alright!” I shouted back to him. I quickly handed Miracle back to alex and placed another kiss on each of them before picking up my helmet and stick again. “I’ll talk to you guys before we start the game. Just sit and relax. Later babe.” I placed another quick kiss on Alex’s lips before jogging back onto the field and joining my team in practice.
There was only seconds left in the game, we were down by one goal, and all we needed was that one goal to win the game. Number 82 and fellow teammate, Vic, was running looking for someone open. This was my chance, no one was on me, so I called over to him.
“Vic!” His eyes caught mine and he nodded his head. He managed to juke a few more people before setting up for the pass. I stood in my position, ready to collect the ball in my small net. Vic made the pass, and as soon as he did, there were many people heading the same way he threw it. I lifted up my net and caught the ball, running as fast as I could to the goalie box.
I was about four feet from the box, when I turned around and saw a whole team of players heading my way with lots of grunts. I let out a quick yelp and flicked my wrist, sending the ball flying from my net and straight to the goalie box. Before I could watch if the ball made it or not, I got slammed to the ground by another person. A pretty huge person I might add, and it hurt, but I’m sure I’ll be fine.
I heard the crowd cheering as the guy got off of me. Did that mean I made the goal? I rolled over onto my back, and one of my other teammates, Tony, was standing above me holding out his hand. I took it and he helped me off the ground. Once I was to my feet, the rest of my teammates surrounded me and a couple of them lifted me up and put me on their shoulders, telling me that I did indeed make the goal. I cheered along with the rest of my team, and they finally put me down after a few minutes.
“Jack!” I heard someone call, I turned around and looked over to side field. I saw Alex standing with a huge smile on his face, with little Miracle on his side. I smiled and jogged over to them, taking off my helmet and letting out my very sweaty head of hair. “You did it, baby!” I continued to smile before placing a kiss on his lips and taking Miracle from his arms.
“Told you Daddy was going to kick some butt tonight.” I said as I lifted her up in the air and spun around.
“Barakat!” I heard my coach shout. I looked over as I brought Miracle into my arms. “Great game out there, son! Also, adorable little girl.” I chuckled at the ever growing smile on my coach's face.
“She is cute, isn’t she?” I shouted over to him. He nodded his head and turned around to talk to some other players. I turned back to Alex and looked him in the eyes. “She’s just as cute as her Father.” He giggled and placed his lips onto mine.
