A Love Like War

Our Little Miracle.

Jack

I replied the name over and over in my head. What Alex said was true, she really was a miracle. She really was a fighter. She pulled through even with being so young and small. I took a few minutes to think about it in my head, but I have come to a conclusion.

“Doctor, can you get the birth papers, please?” I asked the Doctor who was standing to the side to use. She held up her clipboard and smiled.

“Have them right here, Mr. Barakat. Have you guys came up with a name yet?” She asked. I looked over at Alex and smiled as he cooed to the sweet, small girl in his arms. I turned my head back to look at the Doctor and spoke.

“Miracle Melody Gaskarth-Barakat.” I said with a ever growing smile on my face. She smiled back at me and wrote down on the birth records. I looked back over to Alex and he had a smile bigger than I have ever seen.

“You like that name?” He asked quietly. I nodded my head and placed a kiss on his cheek as I put an arm around his waist and brought him and our daughter closer to me. “When will we be able to bring her home?”

“I’m going to say in about a week. She will be here, while you two will be able to go home and make sure everything is set up for her. Is that okay?” The Doctor asked.

“That’s fine with me. I have some shopping to do.” I chuckled.

“Hey, you're not shopping without me. There is no way in hell I am letting you pick out her stuff, you have horrid taste as it is.” Alex spoke looking over to me.

“Okay, first off. Watch your language around our child. Secondly, ouch, that hurts.” I mocked a hurt face. He shook his head and grinned at me.

“Well, looks like everything will be fine. Mr. Gaskarth, you will be able to go home tomorrow.” The Doctor said. She told us a few more things we needed to know about Miracle’s health, before walking out of the hospital room and leaving us to spend a little bit more time with our daughter.

“So, did you catch her eyes yet?” I asked with a small smile.

“I did. They look just like mine.” Alex smiled up at me. “She has your nose though, I feel sorry for her when she gets older.” He giggled.

“Rude.” I chuckled.

“Hush, your nose is adorable.” He placed a peck on my lips.

“I can tell already she has my hair.”

“Yeah, let’s just be glad you have amazing hair.” I couldn’t help but laugh at his response.

“Oh, babe, let’s take a picture together. As a family. That way I can post it on every social media site I have. Oh, and make everyone jealous that my daughter is cuter than theirs. Also, that my boyfriend is hotter than theirs.” I placed a kiss on his neck as I pulled out my phone. He giggled and I held the phone out so I could take a picture of us. I placed my lips to Alex’s cheek and pressed the camera, taking the picture.

I posted the picture on basically everything I have. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and many more random media sites. Instantly getting comments on them, but I was just too lazy to open the apps back up and look at them.

“Hey Alex?” I said to the boy next to me.

“Yeah, Jack?”

“I love you.” I placed my lips onto his and gave him a passionate kiss. We pulled away a minute later and I looked down to Miracle. “And I love you too, babygirl.” I said before placing a small kiss on her head.
