A Love Like War

Date Night.

Jack

Alex and I had just finished getting ready for the date I was taking him on. I had to most perfect date planned out, and I really hope things turn out the way I want them to. I was currently driving to where I was taking Alex to dinner at, he kept asking over and over again where we were going, but he should know by now not to ask.

Alex has been telling me for the past few days that he has been craving Italian food, so I was taking him to this really nice Italian restaurant about a hour away from my house.

“So, wanna tell me where we are going now?” Alex asked, for the millionth time. I let out a sigh and pulled into a parking lot and pointed in front of us.

“That’s where we are going.”

“And what is that?”

“You were craving Italian, right?”

“You mean, I still am craving Italian.”

“Then let’s go.” I chuckled and got out of the car. Walking over to Alex’s side and opening his door for him to get out, with my help. “You’re so beautiful.” I said as I placed a kiss on his cheek after he finally got to his feet. He giggled and I took his hand in mine, placing a kiss on it and smiling down at him. We walked up to the restaurant doors and were greeted by a waiter. “Table under Barakat, please.” He checked his list and smiled up to us.

“Right this way.” He said. We followed him and he brought us to a booth in the back of the seating area. “Here are your menus, I’ll be right back to take your orders.” I said a thank you and he left.

We finished eating dinner, Alex didn’t eat as much as I thought he would, but I still brought extra money, so it’s fine. We were now back in my car and I was driving us to the surprise I had Zack and Rian’s help set up. The place I had the surprise set up, was at the lake shore, Alex’s special place.

“Are we going to the surprise now?” He asked from my side as I reached over and laced our hands together.

“Yes, yes we are. I really hope you like it.” I smiled softly over at the boy next to me. He looked like an angel.

“Tell me what it is and I will tell you right now if I will like it or not.” He spoke. I chuckled and shook my head.

“Nice try, but not happening.” He let out a groan and turned up the music. I laughed again and brought his hand up to my lips to place a kiss on it.

We arrived at the parking lot of the lake, and Alex looked at me confused. I could tell by the look on his face that he knew exactly where we were at.

“Wanna tell me why we are at my lake?” He questioned.

“Let’s get out of the car, and you will find out.” I smirked at him and got out, again going over to his side, opening the door and helping him out. Once he was out, I shut the car door and laced our hands back together, and walked us up to the shore line. He looked at the ground and saw a note, that had two candles lit around it. I picked up the note for him and let him read it.

So here we are. At your special place, for your special surprise. As you can tell, I am right by your side, like I always plan on being.
Follow the rose petal trail, and along the way, you will find balloons with different lettering on them. Make sure to grab all of them, and you will get your surprise at the end of the trail.

Good luck. I love you.
Jack.”

He looked over at me and smirked. “Romantic.” He giggled.

“I try. Now come on.” I chuckled and he took my hand again, as we started down the trail. We walked for about two minutes, before Alex noticed the first balloon taped to a tree. He went over and got it.

“P?” He questioned as he looked at the letter on it. I nodded my head and we continued down the trail, with him holding the balloon. We walked another minute, and he found another one. “R?”

“Don’t question the letters. You will understand at the end of the trail.” I chuckled. He nodded his head and we continued on. The next balloon came up, and I got it for him. I held the balloon so he could see the letter. “O.”

We walked again, and finally reached the end of the trail. Taped to the ground, was a pink balloon that had the letter M on it. I walked away from Alex as he lined the balloons up in the order he found them. I walked behind a tree and got the final balloon, which he didn’t see yet. I walked back out and Alex looked up at me. I held the balloon behind me back and once I got to the end of the line of balloons, I pulled the balloon out from behind my back. The last balloon, with a question mark on it.
