Pierce's POV
He spoke to me. With his ridiculous grinning smile and sparkling eyes.
Shut up, Pierce. You have a boyfriend. And I'm sure a guy like him wouldn't like you anyway.

I pulled my head up from my desk and listened to Mr Wilson.
"Today, we are starting a new project" he announced. I liked his projects. They were always fun and different. And it gave me a chance to escape from life for an hour or two.
"Now, normally, my projects are to choose an artist to focus on or make a collage of something, but this is going to be different". A grin appeared from the side of his lips. What is he thinking? I hope it's not paired work.
That would involve talking to someone, and possibly going to their house. And I didn't like that idea.

You see, I always keep to myself. I have no friends apart from Kyle. But I wouldn't call him a friend. Would you? I just keep to myself and hope no one talks to me. But Rian, he was different. I didn't even know him but the way he smiles just makes me feel...
Stop it, Pierce!

"So," Mr Wilson continued. "Your project is going to the paired work..."
Oh fucking brilliant!
"So I'll put you into your pairs and then I'll tell you the project".

My heart began to race, and nearly pounced out of my chest. Paired work. No. Anything but paired work!

"Okay so...Alex with Jack"

I saw two guys; one with skunk hair and the other woth caramel coloured hair high five each other.

"Kellin and Vic. Josh with Ryan. Austin with Oli. Jessica with Lucy. And Rian with Pierce"

My heart skipped a beat and my throat tightened. I was paired with Rian. Rian! Of all people! No, this can't be happening. No! No!
I looked over at the next desk and Rian was smiling a pearly-white smile. I nervously smiled back and hung my head, staring at the scraped piece of wood called a desk.
Mr Wilson explained the rules of the project.

At least one piece of musical instrument must be used, it has to be original, written by you and your partner and you must spend extra time on the song outside of school. We then moved the desks and sat in our pairs.
Alex and Jack, who I found out are best mates with Rian, came and sat with us.

"Hey, Rian" Alex greeted us, as him and Jack took a seat infront of us.
"Hey guys" Rian greeted back and they did, I'm guessing, was a secret handshake.
"So, Pierce," Rian said, turning to me. I panicked and looked down at the desk again. I brushed my hair out of my face.
"Tell me about yourself" he smiled. Oh jesus, his smile!
I stuttered, making Alex and Jack laugh. "I think she likes you, Ry" Jack teased.
I immediately blushed bright red. If Kyle hears rumours of me having a crush on someone, it'll be the end of me.
"No, she's dating Kyle" Rian told them. Jack and Alex looked at me in confusion and I nodded.

"Pierce, do you sing?" Rian asked, turning back to me again. I shrugged.
"Sort of" I whispered. His face lit up and he smiled again.

"That's cool. Alex sings too" he replied, and gestured to Alex. He did a little wave to me and I smiled in reply.

"So how long you been dating Kyle?" Jack asked.

I panicked once more and began stuttering again.
"Guys, let's focas in the project, shall we?" Rian butted in.

He's so sweet.

"Rian I can't be bothered. Can't we do it tonight?" Alex whined like a child.
Rian's face lit up. "Yeah, why don't you all come to mine tonight, and start on the project?"

"We're supposed to work on it in pairs, not groups" I whispered. Why was my voice so small?

"Yeah we will. Alex and Jack will do theirs and we'll do ours" he winked. I blushed once more before nodding gently.

"Sure. Okay" I smiled.
