Noughts and Crosses

They sat at the beach like they have been for the last 2 years.
"Are we going to be friends forever?" The younger one of the two asked the older one. "Yeah! We'll be like the three musketeers part from there's only two of us." The older one said and thought about what he had just said.
"We could always include Meggie?" The younger one said.
"She a girl, they don't belong in a man's world." The older one said and looked out to the sea.
"Your a cross aren't you?" The older asked.
"Yeah." The younger one said and messed around with the sand.
"That probably means we can't be friends then." The older one said sadly.
"Why not?" The younger one asked confused.
Unlike the younger one, the older one was educated and knew that Noughts weren't supposed to be friends with crosses.
"Because of the rules." The older one said.
"What rules?" The younger one asked confused.
"The ones we have to live by." The older one said and looked at the younger one.
"Boys come on its going to rain!" The woman shouted.
The older one got up and helped the younger one up.
"Last one indoors is the rotten egg!" The older one said and ran off.
"That's not fair you got a head start!" The younger one shouted as he caught up with the older one.
"Stop be so slow then slow coach." The older laughed as he got indoors.
They both got indoors and went into the sitting room where two women shook hands.
One having tears in their eyes the other didn't.
"Say goodbye to Alex Jack." The woman said.
"Bye Alex." The younger one said and hid behind the woman's leg going shy all of a sudden.
"Bye Jack, see you tomorrow." The older one said not knowing that it was going to be the last time he saw the younger one.....

Have any of you guys read the Noughts and Crosses Trilogy?
If you haven't if you have to read them... They are literally my favorite books ever!!!!!

Hopefully if it all goes right this story is based round the books but its going to be different.. Hopefully...
