"Life is filled with uphills and downhills, curves and lines, just like an intricate map. A map for your journey from birth to death."-
"My name is Alexander Gaskarth. I'm 19, I have blue hair, brown eyes, skinny body. Nothing too impressing. The thing is, I love to play with numbers, chemicals and formulas. And I'm good at it. Really good."
Alex wasn't a typical teenager. He didn't go out to drink with his friends, he didn't spent his days playing video games. Alex was something people would call a genius.
"And that is the only reason I'm alive anymore."
The world wasn't the same anymore. Human rights were long forgotten and killing and enslaving people completely normal. It was all about ranking though. If you had a high ranking, you had a better life. If you didn't have a ranking, you were killed. Simple as that.
"I was ranked in the first class before things changed for me. I used to be the leader of a huge science center."
Alex was a lucky one. That's it, until Jack came into the picture.
"My name is Jack Barakat. I'm 17 years old. Might as well just say this now- my dad is the ruler, president, mayor, dictator of his 'new world'. I have brown, almost black hair with a patch of white at the front of it. Don't question why, maybe it's my subtle 'fuck you' to this shitty new world order."
Jack was the one everyone thought had a great life, being a son of the most powerful man in the world. The truth though, was something completely different.
"I don't really like people, the majority of them bullied me for being who I am, jealously mainly, I guessed. I don't get why. They had nothing to be jealous of, my life was just a depressing mess-"
Abuse, bruises, scars. Jack's father wasn't a good man, and his life was nowhere near perfect. A lot of things changed though, after the two boys met.
"-until I met Alex, that beautiful and confident asshole who forced me to be my own person."
And suddenly everything wasn't clear and simple anymore.
"I'd fallen in love with the enemy."
