Double Take.
Chapter Five
"Jack, I don't, I don't know," he stammered.
"I can't leave you here homeless. I'm not heartless," I said.
"This wouldn't be the first time you left me."
"Lex, I can't explain how bad I still feel about that. I just couldn't do that anymore. I couldn't force you to continue to run away. You don't know how bad I feel do you? I wrote part of a fucking song for you. Dear God, listen to the fucking song."
"Don't call me Lex."
"If you can bring up the single thing I regret the most then I can call you Lex."
I turned from him, getting more and more angry because I wasn't sure else how to channel my emotions. I went to walk away from him. A hand gripped on my shoulder. I turned around seeing Alex looking at the ground. He looked so pitiful, o broken.
"I'll move in with you Jack, thank you," he said, swallowing his pride.
"Hey Johnny," I called over the loud music.
I watched the smaller boy walk over to me. I watched his graceful movements as he moved through the crowd. He came up to me, almost as if he was a puppy. The shy boy was funny to me, I wasn't sure why.
"Can you grab my card before you leave? Gary'll know, I promise. I'm gonna help get Alex home. Tomorrow's our day off right," I asked.
"Ok, yeah, tomorrow's off," he said.
"Cool dude, thanks."
I pulled Alex out of the bar, forgetting to find a guy to have sex with tonight. I lived close enough to the bar so I didn't worry about getting a taxi. The pink haired boy was falling behind me. I wrapped my arm around him, pulling him close to me. He was crying, silently but I could see the tears falling from his eyes.
"You're gonna be okay," I told him.
"Everyone I love hurts me. What's the point," he asked, crying.
"Alex, you're gonna find someone, I promise. Look at you, you could be with anyone."
"What about you?"
"We both know that you know about my lifestyle."
Neither of us said anything, neither of us knew what to say. I pulled him into my building and out of the somehow busy streets of Baltimore. It was quiet as we were in the elevator going up to my home. Had I got a home in Baltimore for hope? Absolutely not. I didn't feel anything for him.
I unlocked my door and let him in. I lead him to the spare bedroom where he'd be staying. It was bare, so empty. It had never been entered, I didn't want to think about having a roommate. I really didn't want to think about dating anyone again. I helped Alex into the bed and walked away. He grabbed my arm.
"Stay Jack, please," he whispered.
I crawled into bed next to him and felt his body mold against mine. After all this time it still felt normal. However, I did not love Alexander Gaskarth.
Notes
I had a poopy day at work so I'm going to bed soon cause it's an early day. Anyway, Alex's answer and Jack's feelings. Also, my ex boyfriend just got me into Hellyeah (I'd seen them live but wasn't super into them) and they're so good and musically beautiful and ugh. We're also discussing how hot female musicians are.
