Lady and the Tramp II

This is the Night

As the summer came to an end, things all over town slowly began to fall into place. Luke’s new friends were finding their way into more fulfilling lives, free of illegal activities. Luke and Angel kept in touch with the group, and the two teens helped to guide their friends into better circumstances.

Francois, in particular, decided that he wanted to open up a restaurant. Having had a lot of experience in the plethora of restaurants situated along main street, the young French man decided that it was his passion. Working with food for the rest of his life was definitely possible, and it was a job that’d even like going to. Realizing that opening his own place wasn’t possible right off the bat, though, Francois took the situation accordingly. Over the following months, he had gotten a job at a popular Italian restaurant, first working as waiting staff. Eventually, the two men in charge of the restaurant, Tony and Joe, promoted him to kitchen staff, and Francois was well on his way to living his dream.

Mooch never strayed too far from Francois. The two had been best friends since they were young boys, even before they had met Buster. So, naturally, they moved on together, as well. At first, Mooch had worked with Francois as waiting staff, but eventually he had realized that the job was definitely not cut out for him. Accepting a position as a cashier person just across from where Francois worked, Mooch held a study job there, while decided to go back to school. Odd jobs he had worked on throughout his life on the streets gave him an interests in the trades, and he was now on the road to becoming successful in that area.

Sparky and Scratchy, on the other hand, decided that they wanted more than just what their little town could offer. The two friends gathered up all that they could, bid their farewells, and traveled by train to the edge of the country, where they eventually flew off to Europe. They lived a life full of variation, as they spent some days in the city, and others in the countryside. Sparky and Scratchy were not opposed to life in the big city, but they also greatly fancied the concept of farming. After many months, they were able to get their own farm on its feet, all while still being able to visit different towns, including the one back home.

Deciding that she loved her town too much to leave, Ruby stayed behind with Francois and Mooch. She didn’t exactly have an interest in life that drew her attention right away, but soon enough, she found something that at least made her smile quite a bit. Ruby was able to find herself a job at the library, where she kept herself content during the day. She enjoyed observing the curiosity of young children, as well as the drive to learn more, displayed by older teens. On her time off, she attended many small shows, those of which showcased the unknown talent of the town. Ruby met a woman at one of these shows, a lady by the name of Peggy, whom of which was just a bit older than her, and soon, they became great friends.

"Pidge, it's okay," The Tramp stressed, smiling at his husband as he brushed away a single tear on the other man's face.

"No! It's not." Alex mumbled, leaning against Jack's chest, fingers kneading into his shirt. Alex had been preparing a pretty complicated meal, and he'd been excited about the outcome throughout the entire day. His younger sister and his parents were to come over that night, as Juliet was still in town for the rest of the summer. Her visit earlier in the past few weeks had been prolonged due to Luke's disappearance, but since everything was right again, now, they were finally able to carry through with it. Well, not everything was right.

Alex had burned his special dish, forgetting that it was in the oven as the Tramp lured him away from the kitchen.

"Oh," Alex had gasped, as Jack pressed him up against the inside of the door of their bedroom.

"Sorry," Jack chuckled, "I know you're busy, baby. I couldn't wait until later."

Smiling at his lover, Alex chirped in surprise as Jack's lips met with his, the taller man wasting no time.

"My gosh, you're worse than a teenager," Alex panted, as Jack moved on to placing kisses to the brunet's neck. "And I didn't even know you when you were a teenager.

"Maybe that's a good thing," Jack murmured against Alex's neck, smiling as Alex's hands threaded through his hair. "But it's not like I'm ever going to be too old for this, anyway."

As expected, the pair got carried away, resulting in Alex's burnt dinner.

"It's my fault," Jack sighed, truly feeling bad about what he'd done. "I distracted you."

"No, no, it's not." Alex shook his head, leaning up to press a kiss to Jack's cheek.

"Tell you what, why don't I take everyone out to Tony's tonight?" Jack suggested, "You don't have to worry about anything, love."

Alex grinned up at Jack in response, happily sighing, "I love you."

"I love you, too." Jack replied, placing a kiss to the top of Alex's head.

Later on, the Barakat's were joined by the Brown's at Tony's Italian restaurant. The two families sat chatting away in the lively environment, various conversations taking place between each other. Greetings were also passed on to Tony and Joe, the two chefs, and Francois, their waiter.

The large group had ran into Jacque and Trusty at the restaurant, along with their husbands, and invited to join them for their meal. "Lady!" Jacque had called, and Alex laughed and waved in response, welcoming the four over to their table. The two women were then introduced to Angel by Luke as they sat down, and they had many, many questions to ask her. Across from them, Luke and Angel were nothing but smiles, laughing and joking around as they ate their spaghetti. They tried sneaking in some kisses here and there, hoping that no one noticed. The totally aware adults around them respected that, and did not comment.

Beside them, Alex's parents, Elizabeth and Jim Brown, asked their granddaughters how they were doing, making casual conversation as they ate. The girls, Danielle, Annette, and Collette, politely responded to their grandparents, busy catching up with Juliet, as well.

Lastly, of course, Jack and Alex sat side by side at the end of the table, making eyes at each other throughout the entire dinner. The rest of their company smiled at the two men in response, expecting nothing less from the obviously in love couple.

“This is the night,
It's a beautiful night,
And we call it,
Bella notte.
Look at the skies,
They have stars in their eyes,
On this lovely,
Bella notte.

“So take this love,
Of your loved one.
You'll need it,
About this time,
To keep from falling,
Like a star,
When you make that dizzy climb.

“For this is the night,
And the heavens are right,
On this lovely,
Bella notte.”
