Lady and the Tramp II

Scamp

Jack and Alex weren’t the only ones that were greatly enthused by Luke’s return. Danielle, Annette, and Collette had bombarded their brother once they saw him the next day, questioning him to an endless extent while sat in the living room.

“What’s so much better about out there than over here, anyway?” Collette asked with a sigh. Although she recognized how lucky they were as a family to have Luke back, Collette still struggled with understanding why her brother had done what he did.

“For the last time, Collette,” Luke laughed, “Absolutely nothing was good about it, and that’s what I realized.”

“From what dad told us, I see what you mean. He’s lucky he had dad to help him out of it, but I’m so glad you were able to come back home on your own.” Danielle voiced, pulling Luke into a hug.

As Luke hugged his sister back with a chuckle, he thought about all of the little white lies he was telling his sisters. He figured his parents had left telling them about Angel up to him, as it wasn’t their business, but Luke felt a twinge of guilt every time he passed up an opportunity to bring Angel up in the conversation. Reasoning that they’d find out eventually, quite soon, actually, Luke let it be. He didn’t need to deal with all of their squeals twice.

“Yeah, you should’ve seen the two of them. They were, like, constantly connected the entire time you were gone.” Annette informed her brother with a nod, an excited smile playing on her face, as usual.

“Although I do regret leaving, part of me is glad I missed that.” Luke joked, with Collette scoffing in reply.

“Oh, come on! They’re cute!” She tried, dropping the subject when the aforementioned men entered the room.

The next day, early in the afternoon, there was a knock on the door. The girls pretended that they were too busy to hear it, Luke was nowhere to be seen, and Jack just simply looked at Alex, so with a roll of his eyes, the brunet man stood up. Wondering who it could be at such short notice as he walked towards the front door, Alex was delighted to open it up to the girl he understood to be Angel.

“Angel!” Alex greeted warmly, offering a hug to the girl. Angel accepted it gladly, tucking her blonde hair over her shoulder before she was met with Alex’s soft embrace. All of the young girl’s worries about not being welcomed into Luke’s family’s house vanished at that point, as she realized how welcoming Alex was. Having already met the Tramp, Angel admired him greatly, and was just as glad to see him as she had been to meet Alex when he appeared behind the other man.

Angel took her time to greet Jack, as well, before Luke finally showed up. Running down the stairs in a flustered manner, Luke greeted Angel with a smile, and then looked to his fathers.

“ I see you’ve already met Angel,” Luke laughed nervously, directing his speech towards Alex.

Nodding his head in agreement, Alex complimented, “Yes, and she’s quite the lovely girl. Now why don’t you take her into the living room, while I go get some snacks, Scamp."

Following his father’s instructions, Luke motioned Angel into the living room, hoping she hadn’t noticed the suggestive wink that Jack had sent him, regarding his new relationship. Sometimes, Luke had no idea how Alex and Jack got along so well, as that was something Alex would have never done. Relieved to finally be alone with the girl, Luke placed a quick kiss to Angel’s lips as a hello, and although he’d been a bit nervous and unsure of his actions, the smile on her face and the blush on her cheeks were enough of an indicator that he did the right thing.

Jack trailed after Alex into the kitchen, wrapping his arms around his husband’s waist as the latter prepared the food.

“They’re cute, huh?” Alex asked, leaning back into Jack.

“Yeah, you are,” Jack responded, before correcting himself with, “I mean, they are.”

Giggling, Alex pressed a kiss to the underside of Jack’s jaw, not quite so embarrassed by the blush that took over his cheeks anymore.

“They remind me of us,” Alex continued, “Except Luke isn’t as nearly as smooth as you were.”

Jack laughed in reply, leading Alex into the living room, as he was finished preparing the food. Danielle, Annette, and Collette had already found their way there, chatting with Angel and poking fun at Luke, as he’d expected they would.

Making their way into the room, Alex set down the dishes in his hands as Jack said, “So, Angel, I hear you helped our Luke out on those lonely streets?”

Angel nodded with a laugh, as Luke hid his face in his hands. “I guess so,” Angel agreed, before Luke chimed in with, “I’m not that incapable.” Angel and the rest of Luke’s family chuckled at that, and he was glad that they were all getting along, even if they were making fun of him.

“How did you two meet?” Collette asked from beside the couple, curious of Angel’s response.

“He kind of followed me away from here,” Angel laughed, causing Luke to shake his head fondly.

“Okay, enough of that.” Luke smiled, “I think we’ve had enough of making fun of me. Now, I have a question for you guys.” Luke began, directed his question to his parents, who were sat across from him. Continuing in response to the expectant looks he was given, Luke asked, “Do you guys think that Angel could stay here for a while? At least until she gets on her feet?”

“Well, Scamp,” Alex began thoughtfully, before Luke was interrupting once again.

“I mean, you’ve both said it yourselves, the streets are unsafe, right? Angel’s important to me, and this would mean a lot to the both of us. We’ve discussed it, and she’s definitely willing to pull more than her own weight around the house. Not to mention, she’s also more than ready to get her identification.” Luke explained, holding Angel’s hand as he sent his fathers each a pleading look.

After a few moments, and the sharing of a knowing look, both Alex’s and Jack’s faces broke out into smiles, as Alex cheered, “Welcome to the family, Angel.”
