Lady and the Tramp II

After the three were a fair distance from the institution, Jack and Luke both bid Angel their farewells, and headed home. Their walk was fairly tense at first, as neither party was sure if the other was going to apologize, or demand an apology. So, they moved along silently, faces to the ground, until one of them decided to speak.

“Pop?” Luke eventually asked, voice careful as to not stir up any emotions.

“Son, I'm so sorry.” Jack interjected, stopping to actually look Luke in the eyes.

“I shouldn't have run away.” Luke disagreed, shaking his head.

The two continued to stay put, finally having the conversation they’d both known was overdue. “Whirlwind,” Jack continued, “Maybe I was also being a little too tough on you. I don't see any harm in you going out more, you’re smart enough to know what’s right or wrong.”

“Really?” Luke asked, smile finally starting to come through.

“Really,” Jack nodded, “And besides, you’re going to be needing to see that Angel girl more now, aren’t you?”

Letting out a broken laugh, Luke began to drag Jack in the direction of their home once more, hoping to avoid that conversation. He was in Luck, thankfully, when Jack returned their talk to it’s original purpose.

“Just, promise me, no more stunts like this, okay?” Jack asked, letting out a sigh.

“Promise,” Luke nodded, truly believing that he wouldn’t need to do such things anymore.

“Good,” Jack breathed, “You really scared all of us, especially Alex. It was almost as hard seeing him so sad than thinking about you actually being gone. He’s going to be so glad that you’ve decided to come back.”

Smiling to himself, Luke thought about how lucky he was to have parents that cared about him so much. Not only that, but Luke also felt incredibly guilty, thoughts of his other father taking over his mind. Both Luke and Jack’s thoughts ceased, though, when a voice rang out from behind them.

“Gosh, where is he!” Trusty cried out, walking directly behind Luke and Jack, within a clear line of the pair. Looking over their shoulders quickly, Luke and Jack laughed together as they listened to Alex’s two friends argue.

“Definitely not anywhere you’ll look!” Jacque yelled back, rolling her eyes fondly.

“Aw, go easy on her, Aunt Jacque.” Luke turned around, smiling at the two women.

“No, I'll not go easy on her, Luke!” Jacque huffed, before realizing the boy’s presence and shouting, “Wait, Luke!”

Jacque jogged up to the teen, enveloping him in a hug, while Trusty stayed behind, laughing too hard to follow her friend. Bent over at the waist, she giggled her heart out in her usual fashion, waving hello to Luke and Jack in the midst of it.

“Aye. I'll never hear the end of this one, either.” Jacque said to Luke, smiling and pulling him in for another hug.

As soon his son and husband arrived home, Alex was in tears. He wouldn’t let go of Luke for at least an hour, Jack being the only other person in the house, watching the scene unfold from the couch opposite his family, as their daughters were all out of the house at the moment. Finally letting go of his son, Alex was able to utter out his first actual words, sad expression still evident in his features.

“Don’t ever do that again,” Alex scolded, wiping his cheeks with the back of his hands.

“I won’t,” Luke laughed, “Don’t worry.”

“Don’t laugh at me,” Alex whined, pulling Luke into him again. “You’re my baby, Scampy. Obviously I was upset.”

“I’m not a baby,” Luke argued, the end of his sentence being muffled by a yawn.

Smiling fondly at his son, Alex whispered, “Take a nap, yeah?” Before getting off of the couch, and trotting over to the other one, where Jack was sat. He climbed onto his lap, wrapping his arms around his husband’s neck. As Jack’s hands went to Alex’s waist, the couple just smiled at each other for a few moments, Alex leaning his forehead against Jack’s calmy. It felt as if everything was right again for the pair once more. It was Jack who made the next move, pressing his lips to Alex’s softly. Alex let Jack take the lead eagerly, and it wasn’t long before Luke had to interrupt the two.

Coughing, Luke said, “I’m still awake, you know. You guys are loud.”

“Sorry, sorry. We’ll leave you alone.” Jack apologized, motioning for Alex to lead the way. The younger man stood up first, reaching his hand out for his husband to take, then guiding him upstairs.

Flopping down onto their bed, Alex asked, “So who was that girl that came and got you?”

“Luke’s, friend, I guess? I’m not sure if they’re anything more, but I know that he likes her.” Jack responded, laying next to Alex.

“Well,” Alex yawned, “Isn’t that nice,”

“Why don’t you go to sleep, too, baby?” Jack asked, wrapping an arm around the smaller man.

“Mmm, no,” Alex mumbled, “Wanna talk more.”

“Alright, pidge,” Jack agreed, resting his chin atop Alex’s head.

“How do you know the girl?” Alex continued, pulling the sheets over himself.

“I saw her and Luke talking in the alley a couple days ago. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, I don’t really know why I didn’t.” Jack confessed, tightening his arms around his lover.

“It’s fine, I understand.” Alex yawned again, sounding sleepier by the second. “What’s her name?”

“Angel,” Jack answered, followed by Alex mumbling, “That’s cute.”

Eventually, Jack decided to get some prevailing thoughts off his mind, whether Alex was competent enough to register them or not.

“It’s so weird,” He began, “How we’re watching Luke go through all of this now, like we did so many years ago. I think this situation made me realize how important you all are to me, too.”

After waiting a few moments for a reply, Jack realized that he wouldn’t be receiving one any time soon, as Alex’s breathing had evened out and he was fast asleep. Closing his eyes with a smile, Jack joined Alex in sleeping for the first time in a while without any worries.
