Jack Barakat Imagines

Misunderstood Greetings

Your POV

“Come on, babe, it’ll be fine,” Jack reassured me. He was trying to get me to meet his friends. I couldn’t help but be terrified they weren’t going to like me.
“Jack, you know how I am in these certain situations,” I said while trying to calm down my breathing. “You know how long it took me to believe you actually liked me.”
“You know I love you, Y/N,” Jack whispered softly as he took a strand of my hair and kissed it, then staring up at me with his big brown adorable eyes.
“Jack you can’t just say things like that!” I blushed harshly and hid my face.
“And why not?”
“Because it does things.”
“Good things, I hope.”
“Depends on how you look at it.”
Jack smiled down at me and gave me a reassuring kiss on the cheek. “If I love you, they’ll love you. It’s science, Y/N. Science.”
“Sure, Jack,” I chuckled. “Whatever you say.”
We grabbed my car and I drove to Jack’s house because let’s face it, Jack is a terrible driver. Plus he needed to navigate me, since I was terrible with maps.I pulled up to what I believed was Alex’s house. We were getting together to watch the Ravens game.
“I still don’t want to,” I said as I continued to sit in the car.
“Y/N, you can’t meet my friends while sitting in the car.” Jack replied as he rubbed my back.
“They can just come out here, and say hi and then we can leave.”
Jack made a pouty face at me. “But Y/N,” he whined. “I wanna watch the game.”
I sighed. I wasn’t going anywhere with this. Might as well give in. They can either love me or hate me. “Okay, Jack. Let’s go.” I opened the door and got out. Jack got out as well and went around the car to hold my hand up to the door.
“Deep breaths, love. Okay?”
I nodded my head and he knocked on the door.
Alex opened the door and greeted us with a smiling face. “Hey guys! Come on in.”
We walked in and I gave him a shy smile. I held on to Jack’s hand and took off my shoes. Jack gave me a reassuring nod and I smiled back at him.
“Guys!” Jack called to the house. “Come meet my girlfriend.” I turned red at the word girlfriend.
“Hey,” I said softly not really looking up. I heard nothing so I glanced to everyone else. Rian, Zack, Lisa, Cass, and Alex were all there looking back at me, expecting me to say something. “Lisa, your hair looks so pretty today.”
She looked at me, confused on how to take that. She muttered out a thanks and went to sit down. Jack looked down at me, slightly confused.
“I like your shirt, Alex.”
Alex didn’t say anything either and he went to the kitchen. It’s official, I made a terrible mistake coming here. They all hate me. I turned around to take off my coat, and everyone else left.
“Jack, they hate me.”
“They don’t hate you.”
“They do. I can tell. They’re not looking at me, they’re not smiling. I don’t think I can do this Jack.”
“You’re going to be okay, babe. It’s okay. I promise you they don’t.”
“I’ll try again, I guess.”
Jack smiled down at me. “That’s the spirit.” He took me to the living room and had me sit down. He went to go get a beer and I grabbed my phone. I was laughing a little bit, and looking around me, making sure that I didn’t bother anyone. Jack came back to sit next to me and I rested my head on his shoulder. I fell asleep shortly after.

Jack’s POV

When Y/N fell asleep, I asked everyone what they thought about her. They told me she was a bitch and that they didn’t trust her.
“Jack, that’s not it,” Rian tried to explain. “It’s not that we don’t like her, we just don’t know her yet.”
“That’s bullshit, Rian. You just got through telling Alex that she was talking shit. Now how do you fucking know that?”
“She was telling me fake compliments as soon as she walked in the door,” Lisa told me.
“That’s her way of trying to socialize! I told you she was anxiety ridden! She doesn’t really know how to do those sorts of things.”
“She was texting someone about us,” Alex chimed in.
“A fucking assumption, Alex. She was probably on Tumblr.”
“What’s going on?” Y/N asked us. She had just woken up. Probably from me yelling.
“Tell us the truth, Y/N,” Alex stared at her. “Were you talking shit about us?”
“When?” She asked, genuinely confused.
“When you were on your phone.”
“No, I was texting my mom. She told me something funny. What’s going on?” She looked up at me with slightly watery eyes. Shit.
“Alex and Lisa were worried you were starting something, and that they didn’t trust you,” I said simply.
“Jack!” Alex looked at me, surprised.
“Well, what am I supposed to do? Just let her wonder for the rest of her life? She at least gets an explanation.”
Alex put his head down, looking defeated.
“Look,” I heard a voice say. It was Zack. “I know what she’s feeling. She’s quiet, shy and probably a bit socially awkward, correct?”
He looked at Y/N, and she nodded.
“She’s not doing anything mean or malicious, it’s just because she doesn’t say much, it doesn’t sound sincere. We seriously just met her, and we can’t judge her character right off the bat.”
Y/N looked at Zack with a slight smile on her face.
“I understand. You guys remember that I was like that too? You all thought I was a douche. And it was Jack that helped you with that as well. You know Jack has good judgement.”
“Thank you, Zack,” I sighed, relieved. They all apologized, and we resumed the game. I nudged Y/N with my shoulder. “You okay, babe?”
She looked up at me and she had a couple of tears streaming down her face. “I’m okay she whispered.
I grabbed her chin and brought her face to mine. I kissed her for a second, and pulled away. “Better?”
She smiled and laid her head on my shoulder.
Alex came over and sat next to Y/N. He poked her on the shoulder and she looked over at him.
He whispered something to her, I couldn’t hear. I kept my hand on her knee so she knew I was there. She looked a lot better and after he finished speaking, she threw her arms around him. He smiled and looked up at me giving me a nod.
She leaned back towards me and nuzzled against my arm. I wrapped it around her and pulled her close. “Did he make it up to you?”
She looked up at me and kissed my cheek. “Yeah, he said he was sorry for misjudging me and that he’s open to being friends if I was.”
“And Lisa?”
“She feels the same way. Thanks, Jack. Your friends are great.”
I smiled and tightened my grip around her. “Told you you’d love them,” I whispered to her as I kissed the top of her head.

Notes

AN I’m so sorry for uploading so late, I’m just a lazy piece of shit and people are actually inviting me to do things with them. Also sorry with the shittyness of this story, I kind of suck right now. The conversation is between Y/N and your mom
