Chapter Fifteen.

Jack

One Month Later

Today was the day. Today was the day that Layla turned eighteen years old. Today was the day that I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend, in front of everyone. There was only one thing I was a bit worried about. Kaitlin had texted me and said that Jasper, was also planning on asking Layla to be his girlfriend at the party today. Which meant I had to get to her before he did, which wasn’t going to be a problem, because she already told me last night before I left to come home, that she was going to stay next to my side like glue. Mostly because Alex told her that he got a lot of our friends to agree to come to the party. We were lucky to get most of the people to come that we asked, if her birthday was a week later, most of them wouldn’t have been able to come. Because most of them were taking off for Warped Tour very, very soon. I had just finished getting ready to leave for the beach, spending about twenty minutes getting my skinny jeans on over my swim-trunks, but ended up giving up. I threw on a t-shirt, a grey v-neck, and grabbed my phone as I heard it go off. I seen the name on the screen and it lit my morning up real quick.

From: Layla
Mornin’ Jacky! Alex and Lisa are taking Kaitlin and I to the beach right now. We are loading stuff into the car now. Have you left yet?

To: Layla
Grabbing my keys now. I had a struggle with my jeans, so I’m going in just a t-shirt and swim-trunks.

From: Layla
Don’t forget to bring your jeans. You will need to change before you get back in your car.

To: Layla
Good point. I’ll go back to my bedroom and grab them now. I’ll see you when you get to the beach. Bye ;*

From: Layla
Bye! :*

I smiled at the text and walked back up the stairs and to my room. I opened the door to my bedroom and grabbed the black pair of skinny jeans I had left on my bed. I also grabbed my sunglasses off the table and put them on. I walked back out of my room, closing my door behind me, and making my way back downstairs. I grabbed my car keys off of the side table and made my way out of my house. I locked the front door behind me and made my way to my car. Once I was in my car, I started it up and made my way out of my driveway and down the road. I had put my towel and all my other beach stuff in the car the night before, because knowing me, I would have forgot it all. I also had Layla’s birthday gift on the seat next to me. I knew she was going to love it. Everyone of us, Alex, Lisa, Kaitlin, Layla, Zack, Rian, and I, all went to the mall together two weeks ago. I saw Layla looking in the window of a shop and she was looking at a beautiful silver heart necklace. Once I knew no one was watching me, I slipped into the store and brought it. She was going to love it for sure. At least, I hope she would.
I arrived at the beach about thirty minutes later, seeing a huge group of people. I noticed that I saw a very short Mexican-looking guy. Vic. That’s how I knew that it was the group of people waiting for Layla’s party. I parked my car as close as I could get, and grabbed my stuff off of the seat next to me and got out of the car. I locked it up and made my way down the little pathway and into the sand, good thing I took my shoes off first, I hate getting sand in my shoes. As I was walking, I noticed a lot more people I knew. Zack, Rian, Vic, Mike, Jaime, Tony, Mike, Andy, CC, Jake, Jeremy(Jinxx), and Ashley. As well as Sleeping With Sirens, Memphis May Fire, You Me At Six, and loads other people. This was going to be the best party ever. As I got closer to the group of people, Zack noticed me.

“Hey guys! It’s Jack!” Zack shouted, getting everyone to look over my way.

“Hey everyone!” I said with a laugh, as people came up to me and greeted me.

“So Jack, heard you have a thing going for the birthday girl.” Vic said, as everyone was gathered around us, talking to one another. But all stopped talking when Vic spoke, mostly because he spoke loudly, so he could get everyone to look at us.

“And who told you that?” I asked him.

“Her Father.” He spoke with a laugh. “He told basically everyone hear what your plans are. Also, said we have to make sure a green haired boy is not around Layla if they are alone. Wanna talk about that?”

“Green haired boys name is Jasper, he is a good friend of Layla’s. He also happens to want to do the same thing I want to do today.” I spoke.

“And what’s that?” Jaime asked, coming up next to me.

“Ask Layla to be my girlfriend.” I said with a grin, just thinking about her makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

“Shit, Barakat’s going to settle down for a girl?” Andy asked.

“Layla’s not just some girl. She’s special. I knew it the moment I met her.”

“That’s so cute, Jacky!” Jenna said as she came over, after pushing all the tall men out of her way.

“Thanks Jen.” I said with a laugh.

“If that the Jasper kid, with those other two boys?” Mike asked, looking behind us. I turned around and noticed Jasper, Brent, and Chris all walking over to us.

“Sure is.” I said.

“Who are the other two?” Kellin asked.

“The tall one is Chris. Fluffy hair boy is Brent.” I replied.

“Fluffy hair boy?” Hayley asked.

“Yep. He has some pretty fluffy hair. Before you guys leave, you should ask him to feel it. It’s a pretty nice head of hair.”

“Are you talking about my hair again?” Brent asked as they got closer to us.

“Sure am!” I said with a laugh. Brent laughed as well and the three boys reached the group of people. “Everyone. This is Brent, Chris, and Jasper. Good friends of Layla. Boys, you should know most of these people.”

“Holy shit.” Chris whispered as he looked around. “You are all my idols.”

“You are too adorable!” Tay said as she walked over to them. I watched as Chris’ cheeks turned a shade of red and I let out a chuckle. I looked up and saw Alex, Lisa, Kaitlin, and Layla walking over to us. “There she is!” I shouted as I laid my stuff down on the ground where I laid my towel out, claiming my spot. I started walking to them and I knew everyone's eyes were on us.

“Jacky!” Layla shouted as she started to run to me. I let out a chuckle and held my arms open. Once she got to me she jumped up I caught her, letting her put her legs around my waist.

“Well, hello to you too.” I said with a chuckle.

“Dude! I’m finally eighteen! Do you know how awesome this is?!” She asked with excitement.

“I know. I know. It’s huge!” I said, still chuckling. Alex, Lisa, and Kaitlin walked up to my side, where I stood with Layla in my arms.

“Layla, did you even notice all the people behind Jack?” Alex asked with a smirk on his face. Layla quickly picked her head up, moving it away from the crook of my neck and looked at the huge group of people that were standing behind me.

“Holy fuck.” Layla muttered. “Oh my gosh. Is that Andy Biersack?!”

“Yes, that is Andy Biersack.” I said with a laugh. She spoke a little louder than she intended, and I knew everyone heard her. Layla removed her legs from around me and I put her back on the ground, but grabbed one of her hands, which she accepted. I turned around, and noticed Andy was walking over to us.

“Hello. You must be Layla.” He said with a smile.

“And you are Andy fucking Biersack!” Kaitlin shouted, before Layla could say anything.

“That I am.” Andy laughed. Kaitlin started to scream with excitement and Alex quickly put his hand over her mouth.

“We are just going to take her away from here. It’s going to be a long day of screaming with this one.” Alex spoke.

“It’s understandable. Kaitlin right? It’s nice to meet you.” Andy said, sending Kaitlin a smile as Lisa and Alex pulled her away from Layla, Andy, and I. “Anyways, happy birthday Layla!”

“Thank you so much. It means so much that you came.” Layla said with a huge smile on her face.

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world! Plus, I needed to welcome you to the band family. Once you are family to one of us, you are family to all of us.” Andy replied.

“This has to be the best day of my life.” Layla said.

“Haha. It will only get better!” He said, looking up at me and sending me a wink. He moved to Layla and gave her a quick hug, to which she gladly returned. “Well, I’ll see you in a bit, I have to get back over there to Juliet and my band. Have fun.” Layla and I waved to him and I took her hand in mine again, as we started our walk over to the rest of the people.

“Everyone, this is Layla. Layla, this is everyone.” I said with a laugh.

“Hi everyone.” Layla said, not able to hold back her huge smile that came to her face, and never left. It made me feel amazing to see her so happy. I loved seeing her so happy. Everyone came up to Layla, one by one, and greeted her. Once Layla met everyone at the party, I took her over to the spot I had my stuff set up. It was a little away from everyone, a bit closer to the water. But not far away, just far enough that I could talk to her without the noise of everyone else interruting us.

“How are you enjoying that party so far?” I asked her, as I watched her lay out her towel next to mine.

“It’s amazing. I can’t believe you guys got all these people here. Thank you so much.” She replied with a smile. I sent her a smile to return hers.

“No problem. Anything to make you happy.” I spoke.

“You make me happy.”

“I’m glad. Because you make me pretty damn happy as well.” I said with a laugh.

“Good.” She said with a giggle.

“Layla! Jack! It’s time for cake! Get your asses over here!” I heard Alex shout. Layla and I both let out a laugh and I stood up, holding my hand out to her so she could have help up, which she gladly accepted. We made our way over to the huge group of people and into the middle of them. Normally, Layla would freak out in the middle of a huge group of people. But, I think the only reason she is not freaking out is because she loves each and everyone of these people. “About time you guys got here. Holy shit, only took you about ten years.”

“Fuck you.” I said with a laugh as I looked at my best friend.

“Jack! We only do that in the private of one of our bedrooms! Don’t speak like that in public!” Alex spoke, jokingly. Everyone laughed.

“Okay everyone. Calm down. We all know Alex and Jack are gay for each other. But today is Layla’s day.” Lisa said.

“I’m okay with turning it into a Jalex day.” Layla said with a smirk.

“Wow, you know Jalex is true when one of the daughters speak of it.” Kellin said with a laugh.

“I think everyone knows Jalex is real.” Vic said, laughing as well.

“Guys! Like I have said many times before! Jalex is like a unicorn! You know it is real, but you will never see it!” I said laughing.

“But we always see it!” Zack spoke.

“He speaks the truth!” Rian said. “Even on stage!”

“Okay okay. Yes, Jalex is real. Now, let’s move onto the cake. I’m hungry.” Alex said, trying to hold back his laughter.

“When are you not hungry?” Kaitlin asked.

“Good question. Maybe when there is no food left on the world?” Alex questioned Kaitlin’s question.

“Even then you will still be hungry.” Layla said.

“Okay, I get it. I eat a lot. I like food. Now, cake time.” Alex said, not being able to hold back his laughter anymore.

“Okay everyone! One! Two! Three!” Lisa shouted out. Once she hit three, everyone started to sing.

Happy Birthday To You.
Happy Birthday To You.
Happy Birthday Dear Layla.
Happy Birthday To You.

We watched as Layla blew out the candles and we all clapped. Layla smiled up at me, and I returned her smile.

“Now presents!” I cheered. It was always my favorite part of birthday parties, even if the gifts weren’t for me.

“Can we eat cake first?” Alex asked.

“Nope.” Everyone said at the same time. Alex let out a whine and Lisa cut him a small slice of the cake so he would shut up. We all moved over to the table that was set up with Layla’s gifts. I had my gift to her, in my swim-trunk pocket. We all watched as Layla opened every single gift that was on the table.

“Thank you all so much. This is the best day ever.” Layla said with a huge smile.

“Can I give you my gift now?” I asked with a smirk.

“Sure.” Layla said with a smile. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the long necklace box that was wrapped in wrapped paper. All eyes were on her as she unwrapped the box. She opened the box and her eyes lit up as she gasped. “You didn’t!” She said as she looked up to me.

“Oh, but I did.” I said with a laugh and smile. She jumped to her feet and ran over to me, throwing her arms around my waist.

“Thank you, thank you!” She spoke.

“Anything for you beautiful!” I said as I returned her hug. I looked over at Alex and he had a huge smile on his face. His eyes met mine and he nodded his head. I was about to speak till Jasper interrupted.

“Hey Layla. I have to leave in a few minutes. I have a family thing to go to. Do you mind if I talk to you in private for a minute?” He asked. Layla let go of me, as I let go of her as well.

“Sure Jas.” She replied with a smile as she followed him.

“Well, who’s going to go stop the conversation before it goes too far?” Kellin asked.

“I will.” I said as I turned around and jogged over to where they were. I caught a little bit of what Jasper was saying.

“I was thinking, if maybe you would wanna be-” He spoke, but I interrupted him.

“Hey guys! Sorry to interrupt. Layla, I really need to talk to you. It’s really important, and it can’t wait any longer.” I said.

“Sure Jack.” She said. “Is it okay if I talk to Jack for a minute?”

“Of course! I’ll just walk back over to everyone with you guys.” Jasper said, putting a smile on his face. The boy really had no clue about Layla and I. We all walked back over to everyone and their eyes were on us. I sent them a wink and most of them grinned.

“Come with me lil’ red.” I said taking Layla’s hand in mine and pulling her in the middle of everyone.

“Hey! I’m eighteen! I’m not little anymore!” Layla defended herself with a laugh.

“You still have red hair, and are shorter than me. Therefor, you will always be lil’ red to me.”

“Everyone is shorted than you, Jack.” Kaitlin spoke up.

“Hey! No stating facts!” I said.

“But facts are my thing!” Kaitlin spoke with a laugh.

“That’s the point. It’s quiet time now. I must speak.” I said letting out another small laugh. I turned to Layla and looked into her eyes. “Layla.”

“Jack.”

“Hello.” I said with a smile.

“Stop stalling and get it over with boy!” I heard Mike shout.

“Just gotta ruin everything, don’t ya Mike?” Vic asked with a laugh.

“Yep.” Mike said, laughing with his brother.

“Anyways. Layla.” I started. “You are the most amazing person I have ever met. You are beautiful, smart, brave, compassionate, courageous, fuck I could make a huge fucking list about how amazing you are. I could go on forever, but I don’t have that much time.” I stopped and let out a light chuckle. “Anyways, what I’m trying to say is. Layla, from the moment I met you, I knew there was something special about you. Something that I love about you so much. Layla, will you be my girlfriend?”
