Her soulful, edgy voice rang through the stereo speakers, sparking distant memories in the young singers mind.
Here we stand at the end, you and I out on the battlefield.

He tangled his hands into his greasy hair, his mind too preoccupied to realize that he hadn’t showered in three days. A choked sob escaped his mouth infiltrating the room like a battle cry and the words ringing through the air were the bullets that had shot him down.
I'll survive you even with all these wounds. I'm alright, I'll undo all of the damage you've done to my life. That's right, you’re not gonna see me cry. This time I'll survive you.
His once perfect life had changed in an instant. He didn’t mean it. The words he said, the actions that carried through. He didn’t mean any of it, but it was too late now. An apology would never take back the things he did.

“Shhh” “shhhh” a set of lanky arms wrapped around his shaking body. “C’mon, ‘Lex you have to breathe. It’s okay, you’re okay” his best friend urged.
“It’s not! Nothing is okay, Jack!” Alex snapped venomously. Jack sighed, standing up he walked across the room and ejected the CD that Alex had been torturing himself with for weeks. Alex stared in disbelief as Jack began to bend the flimsy disc.
“WHA-WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” Alex cried out, lunging towards Jack but it was too late. They lied crumpled on the floor with the CD snapped into two uneven pieces.
“How could you!?” Alex glared at the man as he pushed himself up “that was all I had left of her” he softly confessed, his eyes welling up with tears. Jack immediately pulled his broken friend into his arms, running a hand up and down his back as the man cried into his shirt. Jack’s heart broke at seeing his friend so lost, a shadow of who he used to be.
“Lex, you’ve got to move on. It’s been six months, this isn’t healthy and everyone is starting to notice your behavior” Jack finally broke the silence that had settled between the two as Alex calmed himself down.
Alex looked up at his friend, his eyes red and puffy, his face splotchy “I need her, Jack” he sat on the edge of his hotel bed. The sea of blankets crinkled beneath him, and the mattress sunk in to accommodate the added weight.
“Lex…” Jack sighed
“I need her and I miss her and she’s doing just fine without me! It’s…it’s not fair” Alex’s body slumped down into the mattress, his fingers picking at the loose thread on the blanket.
“She’ll come around” Jack said feigning confidence for the benefit of his friend, but deep down he doubted that statement more than almost anything else. He was ninety percent sure that no, she wouldn’t come around. She never was one to come running back, she had too much pride for that and Jack couldn’t blame her for leaving. What Alex had done was unacceptable and cruel but when it came down to it, Alex was his best friend and he would stand by his side no matter what, even when he knew Alex was in the wrong.
“You really think so?” Alex asked, hope lighting up his voice for the first time in months and Jack didn’t have the heart to take that away from him.
“Of course” Jack lied.

Just a quick idea I had and wanted to get out. I am in summer session for college right now so I can graduate next month so I may not be able to update very often until after June 20th but let me know what you think?The song used is I'll Survive You by BC Jean if you want to look it up!
