Chapter 3

I woke up the next morning with a headache which I could feel pulsing. I sat up slowly and blinking, looking around at my surroundings. I saw clothes scattered around the room, even a shirt hanging from the ceiling fan.

‘Can you stop moving please?’ I heard Vic’s voice say. I looked down as he was pulling the blanket over his head.

‘What the hell happened last night?’ I questioned, lying down next to him, pulling his back into my chest.

‘well, after the reunion us, Rian, Cass, Zack and Jasmine all came back and continued drinking. We umm, got a bit drunk and you got a bit horny.’ Vic said, still facing away from me. i leaned over him and kissed his cheek before removing myself from the bed.

I walked into the bathroom that connected to our room and turned on the shower, I let it run for a bit while I grabbed out the painkillers and took some, swallowing the tablets with same water from the shower. I walked to the door and threw the little bottle of tablets to Vic, making sure they landed on him, allowing him to be aware that they are there.

I returned to the bathroom and stripped down before jumping into the shower. I washed my body before I washed my hair, rinsing and getting out the shower. I dried myself than wrapped the towel around my waist before going back into the room. I went to the closet and grabbed out a pair of shorts and a baggy shirt. Today was Saturday and I was lucky to have the weekend off.

I looked over to see Vic still under the blanket, complaining about his head. I laughed under my breath before I walked out of our room. I headed down the stairs, preparing to see bodies scattered around the living room but they must have gone home already. I walked into the kitchen I reached the fridge, grabbing out some eggs and bacon. I placed them on the counter next to me before turning the stove on and putting a fry-pan on.

I was just about finished cooking when I heard the groans of Vic approach closer and closer. I turned looking at a very tired, hungover Vic, who had slumped into a chair at the table. His hands were over his face; I could help but laugh.

‘Shut up!’ He said through his hands. I turned back around and dished up the rest of the food before taking the two plates to the table.

I placed the plate in front of Vic before grabbing a knife and fork for him. I got up and grabbed the orange juice and cups before returning and pouring Vic a glass, the rest of it going to him.

He started to eat while I played with my food. I took a bite of food, the food being too much for my toxic stomach. I dropped my knife and fork on the plate, making Vic look up concerned.

‘What’s up buttercup?’ He questioned, moving off his seat, coming over to me. He sat himself on my lap placing a hand on my cheek.

‘Just not hungry is all. I might go out to the shops and get some snacks and more orange juice so we can have our movie day and night, like we planned a while back.’ I replied, smiling to him. His mouth curved before he brought his lips forward, connecting them with mine.

‘That sounds perfect. I might go for a shower then.’ He said once he had pulled away. I kissed him once more before he got up and started walking away.

I heard the bedroom door close as I was putting on my shoes near the door. Once they were on, I walked out the door, making sure I locked the door behind me. I walked over to my car and started it up. I warmed it up before pulling onto the road and driving towards the shopping centre.

I pulled up to the centre, parking the car as close to the door as I could. When I stepped out, I noticed how cold it actually was. I quickly walked to the entrance and walked into the shop.
As I was browsing the aisle, I felt a little bump on my leg. When I looked down, I saw a little girl looking up at me. She smiled before she spoke.

‘Hello.’ She said. I bent down to her level and slightly smiled.

‘Hello, where are your parents?’ I questioned.

‘We are playing a game of hide and seek. You are about my daddy’s height. He is very tall.’ She rambled on.

‘Sweetie, what is your name?’ I asked.

‘My name is Melody.’ She said in a chirpy voice. She grabbed my hand and repeatedly said ‘follow me.’

She pulled me around the corner and I saw Alex looking down the aisle as we were walking down it.

‘Melody!’ He semi-yelled. He ran down the aisle and pulled her into his arms, I stood back, a little uncomfortable and not too sure on what to do. He looked up to me and I smiled.

‘Look daddy, I found this man. He is sooo tall like you.’ She said, pointing up to me.

‘Melody, that was silly of you to run off from me like that.’ Alex said to her sweetly. He didn’t seem angry, he just seemed very worried.

‘I’m sorry daddy, we were playing hide and seek though, I was hiding behind him.’ She said, pointing to me again.

‘Honey, don’t point. Now, say you are sorry to Jack.’ Alex said looking up to me. He smiled to me as she spoke.

‘I’m sorry Mr Jack. I didn’t mean to hide behind you.’ She said, looking sad and guilty.

‘It’s alright Melody. Maybe one day, we can play hide and seek but maybe at a park or at home.’ I said to her. She nodded her head and I smiled, before making eye contact with Alex.
Alex stood up and picked Melody up, holding her on his hip.

‘Thank you Jack, I’ll text you later and we’ll set up a play date and a catch up.’ Alex said, I nodded my head before Alex and Melody started walking away.

‘Bye bye Mr Jack!’ Melody yelled to me. I waved and laughed before turning around and continued my shopping.

I got home a bit later then I was first thinking and Vic didn’t seem too happy about that. He was sat on the couch, arms crossed and a sour look on his face.

‘Sorry I took so long; I was just talking with an old friend.’ I said as I sat down on the couch, snacks on the table in front of us.

‘Old friend?’ He asked bitterly.

‘Yeah, I was talking to Alex and I met his little girl, Melody. She is the cutest.’ I replied, smile on my lips. Vic rolled his eyes and looked away.

‘What is the matter?’ I asked.

‘Nothing, let’s just watch the movies.’ Vic said before he started the first movie. We sat in silence for the rest of the night and I went to bed without a word from Vic.

Is Vic Jealous already?
Oh, how could this end.

I’m so glad you’re back! I love this story and was sad thinking it wasn’t coming back. Fingers crossed for Jack and his plan!
