All I Ever Wanted

It's been two weeks since Alex met my friends. We were hanging out while Tori and Dan were gone, just cuddling on the couch while watching a pointless show. There was a knock on the door, and I got up to answer it.

"Noah," I sighed. He was standing on my doorstep with roses and a teddy bear. I felt Alex's hand on the small of my back.

"Just, hear me out, okay?" He asked.

"No. I told you to leave me alone. What about that don't you understand? You cheated on me. Don't you know how that made me feel?" I asked. Noah sighed.

"I guess I just want what's best for you. I thought this was it," he said.

"The best thing for me would be if you left," I said softly. Noah nodded, and he turned and sauntered down the pathway. I closed the door, and I turned to face Alex.

"I don't think I'm ready for this, Alex..." I muttered.

"Ready for what?" He asked softly. I looked up at him, and tears clouded my vision.

"Whatever this is between us... I don't think I'm ready for it just yet. I was with Noah for two years, and he cheated on me.. I just need some time to recuperate, you know?" I asked. Alex nodded.

"I understand. Definitely. Just let me know when you are. I'll wait for you," he said. I smiled.

"Even if it kills you?" I asked through my tears.

"Baby, I'd wait for you until I could no longer continue to do so. Even if you went to the moon or something. If you get married, and I'm not the guy you're marrying, I'd run into the ceremony, and I'd sweep you off your feet with an acoustic song. It hasn't been very long, but I do have feelings for you. I just hope you don't realize I'm a huge dope that's a waste of your time," Alex said. I laughed and wiped at my tears.

"You could never be a waste of my time, you dope."
