With You Around

One

The morning light poked through my curtains as my iHome alarm began to ring out, play The Reckless and the Brave by All Time Low. I groaned and sat up, rubbing my eyes as I squinted from the brightness that wanted to fill my room. I turn off my alarm and shuffle to my closet to grab the outfit I planned out for the momentous day that today was. Tonight, both myself and my best friend and flat mate, Nyssa, were going to another All Time Low concert during their spring fever tour. I landed us meet and greet tickets and just mixed the monitor party for us. I could care less about that, as long as I got to meet my dream guy and hero Alexander William mother-fucking Gaskarth, I was happy.
I made sure I had what I needed before I hopped into the bathroom. I filled a little paper Dixie cup with some water and went into my half of the medicine cabinet and grabbed my Ritalin and generic anxiety meds and popped my doses for the day and washed them down with my water. Once that was done, I got my butt into the shower and washed away my sleep, singing Yeah Boy and Doll Face to my shower head.
Once I was squeaky clean, I wrapped a towel around my hair and then another around my body and started drying off so I could continue my routine and get dressed for tonight’s huge plans that Nyssa and I had planned since December. I brushed my teeth, did my makeup, dried my hair as quickly as possible, and slipped into my black skinny jeans and All Time Low Hustler shirt. I rinsed my mouth out and double checked everything before I opened the bathroom door to a disheveled Nyssa.
“You take too long to get ready sometimes, Bonnie,” she yawned.
“I can’t help wanting to look amazing when I get to meet my hero and huge crush,” I told her.
“Well it’s my turn,” she sighed.
“I’ll get started on breakfast and coffee,” I told her as I pranced away to our micro-kitchen.
I made a quick pot of coffee and while it brewed in the corner, I started making my scrambled eggs and frying Nyssa’s dunkers. I started frying up some bacon and popping in some bread into the toaster to make the toast to complete our breakfast plates when I heard the water in the shower get cut off. Not long after I plated the food and set in on the card table we used for a dinner table, Nyssa wandered in with her hair still wrapped in a towel and was full dressed and had her light makeup applied.
“Thanks for breakfast, small fry-cook,” Nyssa teased as she dug into her food. Nyssa liked to point out that I was pretty damn short. She was a nice average five foot five; I was a short five foot two thanks to my mom’s Sicilian-Italian genes.
“Well I have you for reaching top shelf for me,” I replied. She didn’t like to drink, but I always had her hand me the little bit of booze I kept here high up in the panty so it felt like top shelf when it was cheap domestic wines, Jack Daniels, and inexpensive liquor.
“So we eat and then bail right,” Nyssa asked.
“Yep. On the way, we’ll need to hit the nearby café for our in line coffees,” I told her. I was the girl with the plans and she was the girl with the ideas and memory. My ADHD made my memory worth shit since I forget everything and I space out, then my anxiety makes me have wild mood swings in reaction to remembering that I forgot something important. I was crazy, but not as bad as I could be if I didn’t have medication to help me maintain normalcy.
After we cleaned up from breakfast, Nyssa and I hit the streets and walked over to the café. When we were about to walk around the corner to walk into the café, I ran into something super hard. The impact was so hard, I felt myself fall backwards. I never hit the ground though, but a pair of strong arms caught me and held onto me. I regained my balance and looked up. The face I saw made me want to scream, but my brain stopped working.
“I’m sorry I didn’t see you,” the one and only Alex Gaskarth said as he helped me stand.
“It’s my fault. I was spaced out and wasn’t paying attention where I was going,” I replied, talking super-fast since I was so nervous. I was talking to the man I have to listen to if I want to sleep at night, I was trying desperately not to fan girl all over him. I wasn’t a super fan girl over Alex. He was the guy that I looked to for inspiration whenever I wanted to write and he kept some of my angry demons at bay and kept me from slipping into the darker corners of my mind.
“No, it’s mine since I didn’t see you come around the corner. I mean you do fall below my direct line of sight,” he smiled awkwardly as he mentioned my height.
“Yeah, I know I’m short. I got it from my mom,” I told him, blushing at the fact I was casually talking to this hot guy that I’ve idolized for years and looked up to since I was in high school and first heard Coffee Shop Soundtrack.
“Bonnie, we need to get to the venue and get in line. We can skip the coffee this time,” Nyssa was trying to rush me away since she knew that if we stayed there any longer, Alex would be late and we’d miss out on the meet and greet.
“She has a point. Hate to see you being late to the meet and greet. Maybe I’ll see you later, Alex,” I smiled and started to walk past him on the way to the venue.
“Wait,” Nyssa and I were about to cross the next intersection when we turned around to find Alex jogging to catch up to us, “Why do you guys come with me? I can get you back stage without a problem.”
“Seriously,” I asked. I was a little skeptical since Nyssa and I were pretty damn average and he wanted us to go backstage with him to hang before the show.
“Yeah. I think you girls are the coolest ones I’ve met so far today and I think you’d have more fun hanging with us then being in the line all day and being out in the audience when you could be side stage,” he explained.
“Holy shit! I can’t say no to that,” I smiled, accepting his invite.
“As long as I get to meet Jack I’m happy,” Nyssa agreed.
“Now I can tell Nyssa is legal to drink. That only leaves you,” Alex trailed trying to learn my name.
“Bonnie. I’m 24 don’t worry. I just look like a middle-schooler due to my height. I’ll be 25 in July,” I told him.
“Sweet, now let’s go,” Alex took hold of my hand and I grabbed Nyssa’s as we took off for the venue.
Tonight was going to be rad. Hopefully, Nyssa will let loose a little tonight. I mean who can say that they get to party with All Time Low, Pierce the Veil, Mayday Parade, and You Me At Six? I was definitely going to have a blast. I might even get Alex’s number so I can keep in contact with him after the show tonight. I just wanted to have fun and have some drinks with this fine ass man holding my hand and fall in love for a night if I was going to have that chance.
