I haven’t spoken to Jack since that night at dinner three days ago. He hasn’t tried to contact me, and I just felt too awkward and ashamed to contact him.
That night, I was actually stupid enough to believe that he could’ve actually caught feelings for me. Maybe the way he was flirting with the waiter should’ve gave me the hint that no, he doesn’t want anything to do with me romantically at all.
I’ve cried a lot these past few days, just thinking it through.
I mean, how stupid could I be? He only wanted the sex before, and now we had become great friends, and I fucked it all up. I’m pretty sure I did, because now he won’t even call-
My phone started buzzing.
I picked it up, and what are the odds that Jack Barakat was calling me tonight?
I debated for about five seconds before I decided to pick up.
“J-Jack?”
“Leeeexxx!” He dragged, and I could hear the smile in his voice.
“Uh…hey. I didn’t think you’d call-“ He cut me off.
“Listen Lex, I-I need to tell youuu something. Mkay?” He slurred, most definitely drunk.
“Uh Jack? Did you drunk call me? M-Maybe you shouldn’t-“
“No no no! Hush your little lips! I neeed to tell you!” He had cut me off again, and I sighed.
“Okay…what?”
“Okay sooo. You’re like really pretty. Like really reaallyy pretty Lex.”
I couldn’t help but laugh a little.
“Thanks?”
“Yeah annnd.. You’re funny annnnd you’re smart. Like a looott smart..”
I was in a fit of giggles at this point.
“Jack, is there a point to all this?”
He took a deep, dramatic sigh and started talking again.
“The point issss that I….like you. There, I fuckin’ said it! I like youuu!”
My heart stopped.
He can’t mean it in that way, can he?
“Yeah.. Y-you like me as a friend.. I know..” I nervously laughed it off.
“No no no not like thaaat! I liiikke like you, cutie! You’re just really cute and I really like you!” He confessed, still slurring on a few words. But this seemed to be legit.
“Really? Y-you do?” I bit my lip, feeling my eyes fill up with happy tears.
“Yessss how many times do I have to say it, cutie?” He chuckled a bit.
I giggled and couldn’t help but smile really big.
Jack actually does have feelings for me.
“Well you’re in luck, because I like you too!” I kept smiling when he started to cheer.
“Oh god that is a relieeff!” He chuckled and yawned.
“You sound tired.” I giggled a bit.
“Well I can sleep peacefully now thanks to you sooo.” He yawned again.
“Awww. Well go ahead, don’t let me stop you!”
“Come over.”
I thought for a second and shook my head even though he couldn’t see me.
“I’ll come over in the morning, how does that sound?”
“Okaaay.”
“Goodnight Jack.” I smiled.
“Night cutie..”
I hung up and wiped my tears, laying down and smiling for the rest of the night until I fell asleep.
