Falling

Part 1

They said he was lost.
They said he was misunderstood.
They said he was blinded by the pleasure.
He was blinded by the feelings.
He was deaf to the words of his brothers.
He has fallen in the hands of the devil.
He was lost to the world.

-&-
“Hey there! You look kind of lost. Need any help?” Jack asked the shorter boy with dark brown hair and matching brown eyes. He’d been watching the boy since he walked through the entrance of the club. He was with three friends. Now abandoned by all of them and wearing a confused look on his face, he was standing by the bar, clutching half empty glass and trying to figure out this stranger—Jack.

“I don’t mean to bother you. If you want me to leave, I’ll leave.” Jack took a step back, well aware of the fact that Alex didn’t want to be left alone. Not exactly.

“N-no. It’s fine,” came a quiet answer, but Jack heard. He was trained to hear. After all those years of breaking and ruing people lives, he’d come across different types of people. One of those types were like Alex—shy and quiet, good on the inside and always ready to help anyone in need. Those type of people were the most interesting for Jack. It was always entertaining to play with them. To see their struggle at the beginning and watch until they were begging Jack for something more, something new, and that’s when Jack would land his final touch.

“I’m Jack.” He put out his hand and smiled at Alex as he awaited an answer.

“Alex,” he answered quietly, reaching his hand out to meet with Jack’s. Hot sparks run through their fingertips, making them both stop breathing for a few seconds. That wasn’t a spark of love, the one that goes through your whole body before reaching your stomach. It stayed at the tips of their fingers, making them feel like they were holding a cup filled with hot water.

That didn’t matter to Jack as he sent a warm smile to his new prey and calculated in his mind how long it’d take before he would move on to the next one.

-&-
“How’d you end up working in a hospital? On my list, that would be one of the last places to work.” Jack chuckled and looked to his right where Alex was walking beside him.

“I’ve always wanted to do something that would include helping people. I never thought of a hospital as a work place. That’s just the place where I could help someone. So I guess that’s how I ended up there.” He shrugged his shoulders and bit his lips in a shy manner.

“But you had to go to college or something. You can’t just go to the hospital and ask for a job there.”

“Well, yeah. I went to college.”

“So you did plan on working in the hospital.” Jack smirked and looked at how Alex’s expression changed as he understood Jack’s little game.

“Shut up! Better tell me what you do for a living.” Being outside of the club and away from the over packed space seemed to do good for Alex, and Jack added that to his list of things to remember about him.

“Oh, not much. Family business.” He wasn’t lying. It was kind of a family business. Destroy someone’s plans for a good life and live for the next year worrying about nothing.

“And that’s it?” Alex quirked his eyebrow at that. He had to tell practically everything about how he got to where he is now, and all he got was “family business.”

“What?” Jack seemed surprised. This guy, this Alex, seemed different. No one have ever asked anything more about what he did. They all changed the subject after he gave his answer. “I just do what my father asks, and I get money. Nothing more and nothing less.”

“Mhm… I wish I had that,” Alex said, looking up at the dark night skies.

“Why? You don’t like what you’re doing?”

“No, I like it. Actually, I love my job.” Alex tore his gaze from the dark skies and looked into Jack’s equally dark eyes.

“Then you have nothing to worry about. It’s great that you can do something you love.” Jack smiled a warm and kind smile. Warm to himself, as he had already found one thing that was pretty important to Alex.

-&-
Alex had spent the last two hours in front of his mirror, and he still wasn’t sure if what he was wearing was appropriate enough for what Jack had planned. He’d said that they’d be going to some restaurant, but he didn’t mention how fancy it was going to be. Right now, he’d settled for light colored jeans, a white shirt, and grey jacket. Altogether light colors because, even if he had some problems with his wings, he still considered himself a light person.

The minute Jack arrived, Alex felt hot sparks run down his spine. He thought of it as being anxious for the date. For not knowing what to expect from Jack; for not being sure if he should do that, but he still did. Maybe he should’ve asked about his brothers first, but something stopped him. Somehow, he thought that they wouldn’t like this idea, and, somehow, he wanted to do that. He wanted to disobey them.

“You look beautiful.” Jack smiled at him, and it made Alex’s head spin.

“You sure? I can change if this isn’t go—”

“Calm down. It’s fine.” Jack pulled Alex back by his wrist before he could disappear in his room to change. His breathing stopped, and so did Jack’s when their skin touched, hot sparks running through their bodies. They both looked down at their hands. The feeling made them both want to run away from each other or go back in Alex’s room and have passionate but rough sex. Dirty images running through both of their minds, imagined moans filling their heads. None of them had experienced something like that, and that just made it all so much more exciting.

Jack was the first one to shake off the feeling. “Come on, we have to go. Our table won’t wait.”

“Right.” Alex felt a blush creeping up his neck and, in hopes to hide it, ducked his head, grabbed his keys, and pushed Jack out of his apartment.

The restaurant was… intimate. Nothing more, nothing less. Dark red, brown, and black colors, candles on every table, and dim lights. It suited Jack, and it only made sense that he’d choose this place to take Alex to. They were seated at the far corner of the room, and that gave them both the privacy they craved.

Red wine and Jack’s fingers lightly touching his hand were the best things happening to Alex in a long time. He couldn’t recall the last time he’d felt so… cared for. He’d always been on the run to help others, to do anything and everything just so someone else would be happy. He never had time for himself, but now here he was: sitting in this expensive restaurant with a gorgeous man that made him feel something different. Something good different.

“So you’re pretty close with your family?” Jack asked, eyes locked with Alex’s golden ones.

“Yeah, you could say that. I mean, you have to be close with your family. They’re the closest people to you, and you can’t just push them away.”

“Mhm, you have a good point.” Jack smiled at him, knowing pretty well what that smile did to his prey. His smile only grew wider when he saw a light blush covering Alex’s cheeks. “You have a big family?”

“Well, kind of…” The confidence Alex had before, while talking about his family, was now gone, and that seemed interesting to Jack. But not interesting enough to get to know why. He had found out that family played a big role in Alex’s life, and that’s all that mattered to Jack. For now.

During that evening, he found out how mysterious Alex actually is. If, in the beginning, he thought that Alex would be easy, then now he was sure that Alex would take a lot more than just a few dates and compliments. He didn’t tell everything at once. He kept secrets and left Jack hanging with just half of the information he needed. But that just made Jack’s game more exciting. He rarely got prey like Alex.

-&-
A few weeks later, Alex found himself in Jack’s living room, sitting on a dark red leather couch, watching Jack breathe in yet another portion of grey smoke. He’d been in his apartment a few other times, but it was the first time he saw Jack smoking marijuana.

“You know it’s bad for you,” Alex stated, eyes drawn to the smoke that gathered around Jack.

“You say it just because you’re a doctor, right?” A lazy smirk played on his lips as he watched Alex, wanting to do so much more to him but knowing that it was too soon.

“Yes and no. It is bad, and you can’t change my opinion on that.”

“It can’t be bad if it makes you feel happy.” Jack scooted closer to Alex, leaning closer to his ear and whispering, “Come on, Alex. Open your mouth.”

He felt Alex try and stop the shudder that ran down his spine at Jack’s closeness, but they both felt it, and they both knew that Alex was pretty helpless when put in Jack’s hands. There was something that they both just couldn’t put their fingers on. They both wanted more, but at the same time, they both wanted to run far away from each other. It wasn’t anything new to Alex, but it sure was something new to Jack.

“Alex, you have to try everything in your life at least once. How can you know it’s bad when you don’t even know how it makes you feel, huh?” He pulled off his best puppy dog eye trick, and it seemed to work as he felt Alex relax and turn his body so that it was facing Jack.

Jack breathed in yet another time and leaned closer to Alex, placing his long fingers on Alex’s chin and lightly pulling his lips to part. They’ve kissed before, but something about the smoke around them made Alex feel dizzy. He loved the feeling of Jack’s lips sliding against his. He loved the feeling of the smoke filling the air around them, filling his lungs. And just the thought of them coming from Jack made that all so much better.

-&-
Silk sheets sliding over his naked body, rough touching, Jack’s heavy breathing, and his own moans. That’s all Alex remembered of the previous night when he woke up the next morning, his body tangled in the same black silk sheets with Jack’s arm wrapped around his shoulders. He felt soft fingers sliding over his hand that was thrown over Jack’s body.

“Morning, beautiful,” Jack mumbled in his hair.

“Mhm, don’t talk.” Alex pulled himself closer to Jack, his lips brushing against Jack’s neck.

“If I’m not allowed to talk, then what am I supposed to do?” He took Alex’s hand in his and laced their fingers together.

“Don’t know. But be quiet. I’m tired, and I have work today.”

“Mmm, that’s bad. I wanted to go out with you. Somewhere. Have some fun,” he said, moving Alex so he that could lie on his side.

“You can go out without me,” Alex replied, eyes closed.

And yeah, Jack would consider that option, but he knew that now, once he’s so involved with Alex, getting a new prey would cause him some trouble. He couldn’t let Alex find out about that because he’s got bigger plans for Alex. Bigger plans that involve more than just a broken heart.

“No, without you it won’t be fun.” He nudged Alex with his nose. “What time do you need to be at the hospital?”

“At seven, and I believe I asked you to be quiet.”

“And when does your shift end?”

“In the morning.”

And that didn’t go together with Jack’s plans, but he had no other choice but to go with what Alex said. It was too soon for him to say what Alex should or shouldn’t do, so he kept quiet, pulled Alex closer to him, and let him sleep.

-&-
It wasn’t like Alex couldn’t see that Jack was different. It was just the fact that Jack made him feel things he hadn’t felt for so long. He was lost. He didn’t know what to do with his life. He didn’t know where to go and what to do, but now… now he had Jack, and it all seemed somehow right. He told himself that, maybe, Jack’s ways weren’t always the right ones, but when his brothers tried to explain to him what they saw, he didn’t listen. He didn’t believe them. Didn’t want to believe.

They saw the real Jack. They saw the Jack who was going to destroy Alex. They saw what he wanted from Alex, and it was more than just a good time. They saw darkness that followed wherever Jack went. They heard whispers that followed him; whispers that belonged to something even darker than Jack himself. They saw that Jack was just an envoy, sent to earth to do what He couldn’t do from the spiritual world.

He feeds off of others’ failures. It was obvious to everyone except Alex himself. His brothers tried to explain it to him, but he had always been more stubborn than others, and with Jack in the game now, he didn’t want to hear anything they had to say. Especially if it was about his and Jack’s relationship.

“Alex, if you stay with him, you’re going to fall! Do you want that? Do you want to suffer that just because he’s different?” his brother tried to get some understanding in Alex’s clouded mind.

“He’s good different,” Alex mumbled, not really paying attention to his brother, and, instead, reading over one of his patient’s file.

“No, he’s not! You just don’t see that! You don’t hear what we hear!” He followed Alex as he ventured down the hall towards his patient’s room. “Alex, you’re lost, and you know that, so, please, let us help you! We’re here for you!” He put strong hands on Alex’s shoulders to stop him and make Alex look at him. “When was the last time you stretched your wings?”

“I need to work,” came the quiet answer, filled with pain. They both knew it was a painful subject for anyone who was lost, and they both knew that it’s been hard for Alex to find strength in himself and stretch his wings for almost a year.

-&-
“Jack,” the breathy moan fell from Alex’s lips, his intoxicated mind making everything seem a thousand times better than it actually was.

It wasn’t even past eleven yet. His shift ended not a full four hours ago, and he was already drunk and high on some sort of drug Jack gave him. Deep down in his mind and heart, he knew how wrong it was. He should be at his own apartment, sleeping away his lost night and not letting Jack fuck him, yet it seemed to be the only good idea that came to his mind when he exited the hospital that morning.

With Jack’s hands all over him and wet kisses pressed to his shoulders, he felt completed. He felt like he could stretch his wings. Not that he would do that. He didn’t know Jack well enough to trust him with something like his wings. It was a well-known fact that people tend to use angels for their own good. Who knows what kind of a person Jack was? Despite him not believing what his brothers said about Jack, Alex still had problems when it came to trust.

-&-
Having Alex asleep in Jack’s bed gave Jack a lot of time to think. Think about everything he knew about Alex, think about how far he’d already come and how far he’ll take it. He felt like there was something more he could take from Alex, besides his job. He didn’t know much about Alex, didn’t know much about his family and friends. Every time he tried to talk about that, Alex changed subject or turned the questions towards Jack himself.

He got up from his bed, leaving Alex alone, and went to his bathroom, quietly closing doors behind him but not bothering to turn on the light. Darkness didn’t bother him. It always followed him, and he was used to it. He didn’t need a light switch to find his way.

“Jack.” The raspy voice startled him. He looked at his mirror and saw a shadow of a face. He knew that face, or better yet—that shadow. He was brought to Earth by that shadow. He knew that there were only two reasons why his Father had appeared to him. He had done something terribly wrong or amazingly perfect.

“Yes?” he looked in his mirror, unfazed by his Father’s ways of communication. It was always something like this. Always something that let him see Jack, too.

“You know Alex?”

Well, that was kind of weird considering that they were thinking of the same Alex, but Jack knew that he couldn’t play the smart one. “Yes, I know him.”

“You know who he is?” Jack’s Father turned his head, his black eyes glistening in the darkness around him.

“Um… he… he’s a doctor in the…”

“I didn’t mean that!” he practically shouted, making Jack cringe and hope that Alex wouldn’t hear that. “I mean, by species!”

“Oh. I… I think he’s a human,” Jack mumbled, cursing to himself for not knowing the right answer.

“No. You have an angel in your bed, and you’ve already done a pretty good job on bringing him down.” Jack saw a glimpse of white teeth before they disappeared in the darkness, leaving Jack alone in his bathroom, staring at his own reflection.

“An angel…” he whispered.

-&-
“Morning, sleeping beauty.” Jack smirked at Alex when he began to stir and opened his eyes to look up at Jack, who had returned to bed and was sitting next to Alex, fingers lightly playing with his hair.

“Don’t call me that,” he mumbled in a sleepy voice, moving his body closer to Jack.

“Why? You were sleeping, and you’re beautiful.” He brushed Alex’s hair away from his face and studied his features. Now when he knew, he could definitely see something of an angel. For anyone he was just another human being, but for everyone he was something more. It was hard to miss him in a crowd. Something just said that he is special. Something said that he was more than just another human.

“Girls are beautiful, guys are handsome.” His voice sounded more awake, but now was muffled by Jack’s side and his pillow.

“Smartass,” Jack chuckled. “Have plans for today?”

There were a moment of silence and then came a whine. “Yes! I have family day.”

“What does that mean?” Jack looked down at Alex’s hand, now resting on his thigh dangerously close to his crotch.

“Means that I have to visit my… my family… parents and… and others.” His answer sounded unsure.

“Mhm… poor me.”

Alex’s answer made Jack think. He sounded like he was trying to hide something. He was an angel, and of course he hadn’t told Jack. His family. That might mean that he was talking about his angel family not real family. No parents included. Angels don’t have parents. Well, they do… on Earth. Jack had heard that none of the angels consider their Earth parents as something closer than any other human on this world. They were just other humans who, one day, might need their help.

“Maybe after that, you can come back. Or we can go out.” Jack wasn’t one to give up that easily; that’s why he was sent to the Earth by his Father.

“Maybe.” They both felt how easy it was for Jack to convince Alex, but neither complained.

“When are you going to leave?” Jack positioned himself so he was eye level with Alex.

“We meet at one, so the latest might be around twelve.” Alex was looking deep in Jack’s brown eyes. Looking, searching for something and making Jack feel uneasy. He knew that angels can see the devil on Earth, and that gave them the upper hand. But Alex hadn’t done anything to threaten Jack’s existence, and that just made everything more clearly—Alex was really lost and couldn’t see who he was.

“Mmm, good. We have a few more hours then.” That famous, victorious smirk appeared on Jack’s face as he leaned closer to Alex, connecting their lips in a kiss. That hot spark, the one they both had grown to know by now, shot through their bodies as they deepened the kiss and Jack moved to be hovering over Alex.

-&-
When Alex pulled into the driveway of a modestly-sized mansion, he was struggling to get the images of the last two hours to go away. Hair was pulled, lips were sucked, necks and jaws were bit, and backs were scratched, strong hands on his hips, pulling his body in with each sharp thrust. He didn’t want to leave Jack. He wanted to stay in Jack’s arms—feel his fingers on his bare back, in his hair, and between his own fingers.

He was close to turning his car around and leave the house, but he didn’t. He already had a reputation of being lost and having found someone who wasn’t good for him. But how can he be bad for him if he felt like stretching his wings? That can’t be bad. That’s what says that an angel is alright. If they have the need and want to stretch their wings, and somehow Jack was giving the will to Alex.

“Hey, you gonna get out or what?” Alex turned his head to see one of his brothers, Marcus, standing there with an expectant look on his face.

Alex grabbed his phone and keys from the passenger seat and got out. “Heard that Tayler’s coming,” he stated, looking at Marcus and waiting for an answer. He knew that Marcus would know more about this and, if what Alex had heard about Tayler was truth, then he was doomed. Then the entire family gathering would be about him and how wrong Jack is for him.

“Can’t be sure about that. Some say that he will, some say that it’s just rumors.”

They walked through the huge lobby, all white and marble, with expensive furniture and paintings covering walls. The mansion belonged to Tayler, but that didn’t mean that he’d always be there for family’s gatherings. He always disappeared somewhere.

I wish I could disappear from those gatherings like he does, Alex thought to himself as he looked at the big stairs that led to the second floor.

They walked through the back doors into the garden that was obviously beautifully decorated. Flowers, little bushes, and a small pond, enough for one family of ducks. It always amazed Alex how, with all the money Tayler had, he chose nothing more exclusive than ducks. But they looked good, healthy, and that’s all that mattered for their little oases that reminded them of their home.

It was two hours into their little gathering when Tayler appeared. A wave of whispers flooded the garden, and Alex’s heart skipped a beat. He didn’t even look to his left to know the uneasy look on Marcus’s face.

“Alex, for a moment I thought you wouldn’t come.” Tayler’s eyes were fixated on Alex even though he stood on the other side of the garden.

For a moment I thought I won’t come, he thought but didn’t say it out loud. If Tayler was concentrating on him, he would get it anyway.

“So this is about me, isn’t it?” He tried to keep a steady voice.

“Well, not all. We do have gatherings every month, and I just thought, why not combine those two things? We’re all worried about you, Alex. We’ve been worried for the past year, but now that you’ve met Jack… you need to understand that he’s no good to you. He’s no good to anyone.”

“You don’t know him!”

“I’ve been on this Earth for much longer than you, and I’ve met his predecessors. You’re just what he’s been looking for. Alex, he’s the devil, and his…”

“He’s not the devil! You think I can’t recognize one?”

“You’re lost, Alexander,” Tayler continued in his calm but (to Alex) irritating voice.

“I’m not that lost!”

“Do you really underestimate all of us? We all hear the voices around him, we see the darkness following him, and we see it around you, too. It’s embracing you. Alex, you’ll be completely lost and gone to us if you continue to see him.”

“So you’re just going to kick me out of the family or what?” Alex felt the tears making their way up to his eyes.

“No, son. You’re gonna do this yourself. You’re already doing that.”

“Fuck you! I’m finally happy! I’m happy with him! Is that a bad thing? He understands me and he cares for me and, right now, that’s the only thing I need! I finally feel like I could stretch my wings, and all that’s just because of one person! Is he really that bad if he makes me feel that way?” Tears were spilling from his eyes, and he was downright yelling at Tayler, something that he never would’ve gotten the courage to do before, and everyone’s eyes were on him. No one yells at Tayler. That’s like an unwritten rule to them.

“Fine. If you’re so happy, then go to him and see how gladly he welcomes you back. Stretch your wings for him and then see for how long he’ll need you!”

You know where to find us, if you change your mind. If it’s not too late. Alex caught Tayler’s thoughts, but that didn’t change his actions.

He did go. He left the house, got to his car and drove back to Jack. Tears blurred his vision, but he knew his way to Jack. He’d always know.

Notes

I guess it's a bit long but I couldn't seperate it anywhere else so deal with it!

It's another one-shot [two-shot if you prefer to call it that way] from me. By that you should understand that this is part one [well, the title says that too] and second part will be up in few days.

Obviously I can't get over angel thing, but I feel no shame about that. So deal with that one too ;D
