Welcome To My Life

Tomorrow came too soon and when my alarm rang, I felt like I had only slept for a few hours. I would have to get used to having to get up early and having to go to bed on time. I hadn’t really done that in a while and usually just went to bed around 3 AM to wake up somewhere around noon. I got out of bed reluctantly and gathered clothes for the day. I went with black skinny jeans, a plain white shirt and a leather jacket. I decided to put on a little more makeup than I had yesterday. Maybe I should just continue to put on more and more makeup until I can wear as much as I used to and people will be used to it by then…

Today I actually was on time for breakfast. It was very silent and awkward though, and I couldn’t wait to leave for school. How about that? Jack hadn’t said a word to me after the altercation we had last night. I didn’t think he was going to, nor did I actually care. If it meant he would leave me alone at school as well, I would take that over him bullying me any second. On the other hand, I’d rather have him bully me than someone like Jenna, as I would at least stand up for myself. But hey, why would I worry about it, it’s not like I really have anything to say about who Jack does and doesn’t bully…

After what seemed like forever we all finished breakfast. Just like yesterday, Jack’s parents left pretty quickly. They worked a lot and Jack didn’t see them too often. Though I knew they loved Jack and they were proud of him for – against all odds – having such good grades, they didn’t really show him. They weren’t very affectionate. His parents were the kind of people that bragged to everyone about their son, but never actually told him they were proud of him. Sometimes, I almost felt sorry for Jack. Not quite yet, but almost.

After his parents left, Jack still didn’t talk to me and I couldn’t be bothered to talk to him. I decided to put in my earphones and listen to some music. I scrolled through my iPod and finally settled on a Green Day song. Suddenly, while I was quietly listening to the music, Jack pulled out one of my in-ears.

“What?” I groaned annoyed.
“Is that Green Day?” he asked.
“Uh yeah, so what?” I asked.
“Nothing, they’re just cool” he shrugged.

“What, you listen to Green Day?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I do, actually” Jack said stiffly.
“Well, who’d have thought you would have a good taste in music” I said mockingly.

“I cover them quite a lot with my band” Jack said, causing me to actually look at him.
“Hold on, you’re in a band?” I asked.
“Yeah” he replied.
“With who?”
“Alex, and two other friends you don’t know” Jack replied. “We should get going.”

He got up and grabbed his backpack. I followed him.
“Do you play something? What? Since when?” I continued firing questions at him.
“Yes, guitar, 4 years” he replied, clearly getting annoyed with me.
“How do I not know that?” I asked him.
“Well, no offense, but you don’t exactly know me” Jack replied, heading for the front door.
“I guess you’ve got a point there” I shrugged, following him outside and into the car.

Thankfully he let me ride with him, because if I were to walk to school I would definitely be late. The ride to school was, once again, awfully quiet. I didn’t like to be quiet. Sure, I was shy, but I also loved to talk, most of the time. Once we got to the parking lot, we both got out. I noticed Alex and Jenna standing in front of the building. Were they waiting for me? For us?

“Are you and Alex still fighting?” I asked.
“We’re not. He’s pissed at me” Jack replied.
“So is he waiting for me or…?” I joked.
“Probably” Jack said stiffly.

“I was joking” I said.
“Well, it’s probably true” he shrugged.
“Why would he?” I asked him in confusion.
“Because he likes you, duh” Jack sighed.
“Uh, no he doesn’t” I exclaimed.

Just when Jack was about to answer, Jenna and Alex spotted us and came up to us to say hi.
