Jack’s POV
Fucking bitch, I thought, as I watched Liz and Jenna walking away. Who does she think she is? I rule this school. She can’t just come here and embarrass me like that. I felt everyone staring at me. I turned around and headed for my classroom.

“Maybe you should leave Jenna alone… She never…” Alex, who had followed me, started.
I shot him a nasty look.

“Shut the fuck up, Alex. Do you have a crush on her or something?” I sneered.
“On who? Jenna?” Alex asked confused, speeding his pace to keep up with me.
“No, you idiot, Liz” I replied.
“What? Why would you think that? I don’t even know her” Alex asked, his face turning red.

“You’ve been a whiny bitch all day. ‘Maybe you should leave Liz alone, Jack’, ‘Maybe you should leave the weird girl alone, Jack’, ‘Maybe you shouldn’t bully innocent people, Jack’” I mocked him. “You’ve never had a problem with those things before.”
“Yeah well, maybe I just saw the light” Alex shrugged.
“Yeah, or you just want to bang my niece” I snapped, causing Alex’s face to turn even redder. “Yeah, I thought so.”

“Why do you hate her so much?” Alex asked.
“I told you, she’s fucking weird” I replied.
“Why? Because she actually stands up to you and you’re not used to that?” Alex asked.
I stopped walking. “SHUT UP.” I yelled angrily.
“Hmm touchy subject?” Alex muttered.
“Go fuck yourself” I said flat, walking away from him to our classroom.

One day, one fucking day. That’s how long Liz had been here and she was already ruining my life. I knew something like this would happen when my parents told me she was moving in with us. I knew she would find a way to screw with me. Liz never liked me, because unlike her parents, mine were rich. While she would never get any luxury, I got everything I wanted. She’d always been jealous. I knew she’d jump on a chance to get revenge in some way. Deep in thought, I walked into the classroom. Though I was late, a lot of my classmates weren’t there either yet as they had been watching me and Liz bickering, hoping for a fight.

Alex entered the room, but didn’t take his usual seat next to me. Instead he sat down at the other side of the classroom, without as much as glancing at me. I probably shouldn’t have snapped at him like I did but I sure as hell was not about to apologize. I didn’t need him nearly as much as he needed me. If even Alex started to talk back at me it would only be a matter of time before other people found the courage to stand up to me and that was the last thing I needed. I kind of liked that half the school was afraid of me and the other half looked up to me. That way I could basically do whatever I wanted and I was not about to let Liz ruin that for me.

Liz’ POV
The rest of the day went by more smoothly. I didn’t run into Jack anymore, but I was glad when the last bell rang. On the other hand, I didn’t exactly feel like going home to my aunt, uncle and Jack either. Jenna and I were on our way to the parking lot. Just as we turned the corner, I saw Jack drive off.
“Are you kidding me” I groaned, causing Jenna to give me a quizzical look. “Jack just drove off without me.”

Okay, I didn’t really expect him to still want to drive me home, but I didn’t really expect him to leave without me either. I would have to walk home and I didn’t even know where that was.

“I’d drop you off if I had the time, but I really have to get to band practice and I don’t know where Jack lives…” Jenna said apologetic.
“It’s fine, I’ll find a way home” I shrugged. “You go to band practice.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow then” Jenna said smiling.
“See ya” I replied, and Jenna walked off to her car.

“Jack ditched you, huh?” I heard behind me and I sighed when I recognized the voice.
“Hello Alex” I said curtly. “Yes, it appears he has.”
“Need a ride home?” he offered.
“No thanks” I replied annoyed.

Alex seemed taken aback by my tone. “Did I do something?”
“It’s more what you didn’t do.” I shrugged.
“Which is?” Alex asked.
“Stand up to Jack. You just stood there while he pushed Jenna, threatened me…” I sighed.
“Well, to be honest I think you’re the one who was threatening him…” Alex muttered.
“Yeah well, someone had to” I sneered.

“Jeez, I didn’t know you’d get mad” Alex shrugged.
“What do you want, Alex?” I asked him.
“I just wanted to offer you a ride home, that’s all” Alex mumbled.
“Look Alex, I don’t know why you would go out of your way to drop me off, but just stop trying okay?” I said firmly.

“I…” Alex started, seemingly confused.
“You’re friends with Jack. You just let him do all of these things to people who never did anything to him, just because they look differently or think differently than you douchebags do. You’re just as much of a bully as he is” I snarled.
“Excuse me?” Alex asked in disbelief. “I don’t bully people. Can you blame me for not wanting Jack against me?”
“No, but it does make you a bully” I stated.

For a moment a sad look crossed Alex’s face, but it was quickly replaced by what seemed like anger. “Fine, have fun walking home” he snarled, turning around and walking away.
