It's Such A Shame That We Play Strangers

Chapter 8

*Alex's P.O.V*

I was just running the last bit of hair though my straightener when Jack returned. Jack's become distant since last night's talk. I don't know what I have done, but he skipped most of today's classes and he has been someone today. I assume he was in the forest, but I can't know for sure.

I placed my straightener down on the cabinet and turned around as I straightened out my shirt. Jack walked straight over to his desk, sat and pulled out paper and a pen. He began to write so fast, I thought the paper was going to light on fire.

'Uh Jack. If you keep writing that fast, you'll burn the paper and the desk.' I said, making myself laugh and causing Jack to drop his pen and jump as he turned to me.

'Are you coming tonight?' I questioned, as Jack drop his head as he looked down at the desk. He shook his head no and sighed.

'I guess that's okay. I was hoping you'd come. Well I'm going now, bye Jack.' I said, picking up my phone as I began to walk towards the door.

I opened the door and took one step but stopped and took one last look at Jack. He was now leant up against his desk, head in his hands. I wasn't sure what was going on in his head, but I am going to give him time.

I exited the room and closed the door. As I walked up the hallway, I kept looking back to the door, hoping to see Jack follow after me, saying that he's coming to the party. All I can hope is for him to decide to come later than not come at all.

I walked around the corner to the exit of the building when I walked right into Vic. He looked up and smiled.

'You finally made it! Just in time too.' Vic said.

'Vic, how much have you had? or are you a complete light-weight? The party started 15 minutes ago, across the yard. Come on, let's go.' I said, laughing as I walked behind him. He was walking with his hand along the wall, keeping himself up.

'I am not a light weight. I just had of pre-drinks.' Vic slurred, giggling as he pushed the door open.

'Yeah well, Why wasn't I invited?' I questioned.

'Because, you would have been with Jack. I know you like him, I can tell. My little gay... ah you know what it's called... is going off.' Vic said, stopping and pointing his finger at me.

'Vic, I have no idea what your talking about.' I said, unsure of what I was thinking too.

'Vic! There you are!' I heard someone yell. Vic and I turned around to see someone walking towards us. He was reasonable tall with black hair. His smile produced dimples that stood out for miles.

'Jaime!' Vic said and began to run towards Jaime. After about 4 weeks here, I have never seen this man before.

I slowly followed Vic and when I got closer, I saw that they were sharing a sweet kiss. I awed in my head and then cleared my throat.

'Oh Alex, this is Jaime.' Vic said as he stood on the ground again.

'Jaime, nice to finally meet you. I have noticed that you actually don't go here? Or you do and I never see you.' I say, extending my hand out.

'Yeah, I actually don't come here. I just snuck in for the night.' Jaime returned as he shook my hand.

'Let's go get more booze!' Vic yelled, causing me and Jamie to run after Vic, towards the party.

*Jack's P.O.V*

It was about 10:30pm now and I was just staring at my roof as I lied on my bed. I looked up and all that was going through my mind was Alex. Alex this, Alex that. I pushed my self up and looked to the other side of the room. Empty bed, empty room. I have gotten used to someone there that it's weird.

I swung my legs off the bed and stood up. I turned the light on before walking to my cabinet. I opened it and pulled out the best pair of skinny jeans I owned, and haven't worn for about a year. I changed my pants and pulled up the jeans. Jump and pull, it's the only way.

I had no top on since I can't sleep in one so I pulled out my top which has the word BONER across the front of it, in bright red colouring. I really did love this shirt and I am glad I have finally decided to wear it again, and go to a party. I placed on my shoes then made my way out the room.

I walked down hallways, across the yard than through another set of doors. When I pushed them open, I could hear music blasting, the smell of alcohol in the air and the slightly muted screams of girls who were getting lucky in the room I passed. I walked to where the alcohol was most strong and was met with a large room, full of people and large amount of alcohol.

As I walked around, I saw Rian standing in the corner, talking to a girl. I slowly walked up to him and on my way, grabbed an already made drink. It was with a hole bunch of other, so I assume it is good, not spiked.

'Jack! Hey! I didn't think we'd be seeing you tonight!' Rian explained, making me smile before downing the drink in one go.

'This is Cass, my girl.' Rian introduced us.

'Hi.' She said, hugging me before letting go.

'Hey. I think I'm going to get another drink.' I replied. Rian's eyes went wide and his mouth dropped open.

'You talked!' Rian said. I nodded my head and began to walk off back in the direction I came. I pulled another drink to my mouth and downed that too. I have no idea what was in them, but they tasted good, when you drank them. The after taste though, ugh. No thank you.

As I walked around with a bottle, I walked into the yard to see a bunch of people playing a drinking game. So I walked over and saw Zack sitting in the circle so I went over to him and sat down. I tapped his shoulder and he turned his head.

'You made it!' Zack said, tapping my back.

'Yeah, I don't think I could miss this!' I replied. Again, Zack's expression was the same as Rian's and it just made me laugh.

'Come on dude, what are we doing?' I asked, making Zack snap out of his stare.

'Oh, right. So we deal out the cards and with every even number you get, you've got to shot.' Zack explained. I nodded my head and waited for the next deal.

Finally the deal was dealt and I ended up with five even numbers, which meant five shots. I lined them up and shot them down, getting a cheer from Zack as well as a very powerful pat on the back.

'I think I'm going for a walk.' I said, standing up and looking down at Zack. He nodded his head and got back to the game.

I stumbled through the people, seeing as I was becoming a little bit drunk. I walked inside to find a bunch of people standing around a couple of bodies with fists flying everywhere and the cheers of the crowd.

I walked my way through to the front to see Vic and Alex rolling around punching and yelling. I wasn't quite sure why but no one was trying to stop it. I looked to my left to see someone standing there, arms crossed and frowning.

'Why are they fighting?' I questioned.

'Well Vic, he said something terrible about this fella named Jack. Alex reacted quite madly and it turned out like this.' He replied. I looked back to the fight and began to walk in.

I pulled Vic's shirt and pulled him off Alex and threw him aside. I reached down for Alex's arm and he reached up for mine. I pulled him up and wrapped my arm around him.

'Vic, what the fuck is your problem. Keep your opinions to yourself next time and if I hear you talking about me again, I will end you.' I said, as people ran to Vic's aid.

'Let's go.' I said quietly to Alex. He nodded his head and we left.

Reaching our dorm room, Alex was leant up against the door, as I opened the door. Once it was unlocked, I walked in, Alex following.

'Thank you Jack. I owe you.' Alex said as he walked to his bed.

'You owe me nothing Alex. You do what you have to do to save someone. If I lost you, I wouldn't know what I'd do. Honestly, you make my days so much brighter. You bring a smile to my face and you make me talk. You know, you are amazing, for sticking up for me. Not many people would do that.' I said, taking a seat my bed, as I took my shoes off.

'Well, that's what you do when you like someone.' Alex looked up to me. His fallen fringe cover his eyes slightly, the dry blood on the side of his lip still sitting there as he breathed in and out.

I looked back to him, eyes not moving from the angel that was sat in front of me. I smiled and looked down, unsure of what was happening, but I do think I know what was. It doesn't help that both of us were drunk.

'Alex, this is very important. Do you mean like me as a friend or is it something more?' I questioned.

'Jack. I have been thinking about this for a while now. Well, my sexuality and I have always fancied guys more than girls you know. And thanks to you, I know for a fact that I am most defiantly gay. No, I haven't been drinking, so my words are genuine and truthful. I think that coming to America was such a perfect idea, even though I didn't think that at first. The day you took me to the part in the forest, and we just sat in silence, your head rested on my shoulder, that was perfect. It really was. Every time you walk into our room, I love seeing you smile to me as you talk. I couldn't imagine you not talking, your voice is so angelic. We've known each other for the past month now, and I don't regret trying to get you to talk. I love getting to know you. I think you are such a kind, smart, beautiful soul who should never feel pain.' Alex explained, after he walked from his bed to mine.

Alex looked down to my hand and took it into his, connecting his eyes with mine again. I felt my face turn red as it burned. I squeezed his hand as I looked to him.

'Alex, do you really mean all that?' I questioned.

'If I didn't, would I do this.' Alex said before leaning in and instantly connecting our lips. My eyes flew closed as I kissed back.

Alex slowly moved onto my lap, one leg either side of my hips. His hands cupped the side of my face with my hands rested on his waist. Alex broke the kiss and rested his forehead onto mine, smiling down as his breath was heavy.

'Oh, you got blood on me.' I said, knowing the blood has now gone on his lip.

'Good way to ruin a perfect moment.' Alex said as he laughed.

'So, Alex. What does this make us?' I questioned.

'I'd like to think that you're my boyfriend.' He replied.

'K babe.' I replied, making Alex hit my chest and get off me.

'Fine no cuddles for you!' Alex said as he walked over to his bed.

I watched as Alex lied down on his bed. I got up, walked past the door turning off the light and then walked to Alex's bed, lying down. I wrapped my arm around his waist and pulled him closer.

'Wow, I've never seen you so confident before.' Alex said.

'You've never seen nothing yet.' I said as I kissed his head and closed my eyes.

'Goodnight Jack.' Alex said.

'G'night Lex.' I replied.

All I could think about before falling asleep, was that I have a boyfriend and that he actually likes me, I hope.
