Oh Calamity!

The next day after school, I hung out with Laura
“Oh I better go” I said after a while
“It’s early” she complained
“I know but Alex said he wants my homework done before he gets back, he’s worried I’m going to fall behind” I smiled
“Lie, say it’s done you will have all weekend plus do you have much for Monday?”
“not much for Monday put a lot for Tuesday, plus he knows when I’m lying and it would be nice to spend some time with him alone, I’m sure Jacks busy tonight for once” I laughed
“I wouldn’t mind Jack spending time with me” she smirked
“Ok one eww and two he’s annoying and winds me up” I laughed as I did my phone beeped, I looked at the screen and sighed
“It’s Jack, they are leaving I better be home or get home soon”
“Is he serious?” she said sounding annoyed with them
“he’s being nice, if I wasn’t home and didn’t get it all done then I would be in trouble, he’s trying to help, he knows Alex is being a bit extreme but he’s just worried” I smiled, it annoyed me but I knew he was trying to make sure I didn’t mess up,
“I guess that’s sweet” she smiled happy with them again,
“I’ve got to go now” I laughed, she walked me part of the way then went to meet other people so I walked alone, I got in before Alex and went straight to my room and did some work, I did the tiny bit for Monday and worked on Tuesdays before he came in
“Oh you are home, I was worried you would stay out” he smiled
“How was your meeting?”
“It went well, we are going to start writing and recording soon” he said sounding happy,
“Cool, can I listen in?” I asked
“If you are good” he smiled, “how much have you done?” I pointed to the book on the side
“That’s for Monday, it’s finished I’m working on this for Tuesday, it’s pretty big though, and I smiled,
“Jack warned you huh?” he laughed, I panicked if I lied he would know if it told the truth would he be mad?”
“Erm yeah, but I was ready to leave anyway or I wouldn’t have gotten home in time, I did the work for Monday though” I said defending myself
“calm down, its ok you do have all weekend, I just didn’t want you out and leaving it till the last minute” he smiled “I know making you do homework on a Friday seems silly but I know we can get distracted” he smiled
“I want to try and get some more done before tea anyway, there’s a lot and it would be nice not to have to do it over the weekend”
“ok do as much as you want, the guys are coming over we are ordering pizza, so we will eat a little later, don’t feel like you have to get it all done now” he smiled,
“I’m sure if I’m up here too long Jack will come annoy me” I said giving him permission to let Jack come up otherwise he wouldn’t let him distract me when I was working, he nodded laughing, I worked for an hour finishing off Tuesdays work, I had a little for the rest of the week but didn’t need to do it so worked on some art to relax, I got out a picture of Jack and drew a rough outline and then worked on it with pastels, I got lost in my drawing I didn’t even hear Jack in the house, or up the stairs or open my door,
“Hey” he said making me jump, it was too late to hide the drawing, by the time I thought about it he was behind me
“Hey that’s good, but you know you could have asked for a live model” he smirked,
“Be nice or I will wipe my hands on you” I warned showing him my hands covered in chalk pastel, he laughed jumping back
“What, I said it was good, really good”
“Not that good I’m not finished” I shrugged there were too many things wrong with it
“Work on it tomorrow come on we are waiting for you so we can order the food”
“Ok 2 seconds-“I said before he shook his head and grabbed my hand
“Nope come on” he dragged me down, in protest I wiped my hands on his face, when he let go making the guys laugh,
“I don’t care pick your pizza”
“Meat feast” I shrugged “I could have told you up there”
“I could have told you without asking”
“She has to pick herself” Jack huffed, I ran off and washed my hands,
“You have a little erm” I pointed to his face, he touched it and got some on his finger, he laughed and washed it off,
“You little” he said picking me up and throwing me on a chair tickling me, I screamed
“Ooh she’s ticklish how didn’t I know this yet” he grinned ticking me I kicked but he was stronger and kept me there, he stopped
“Get off me freak!”
“Now calm down or I won’t let you go” he smirked
“Get the hell off me” I shouted annoyed,
“Ash calm down” Alex said “Jack let her go you deserve it for pinning her down” he shrugged he jumped off and got away mostly, I huffed
“Both of you calm down” Alex said looking at me,
“He started-” I began
“Both of you” Alex said looking at me, I sighed and sat down huffed
“Oh cheer up” Jack said sitting next to me, I turned away so he poked me in the side, I glared at him
“Jack that’s so not helping” Alex said shaking his head I moved and sat next to Alex and Zack
“Don’t worry I won’t” Zack smiled
“I could but I won’t” Alex said I lent on him and he cuddled me, we talked about school
“Jack said you made a friend?” Zack asked
“Yeah she’s nice, we do art together”
“Ooh go show them your picture it was good” Jack said excited
“It’s not done yet”
“You will have more, you have been working on the new stuff all week!”
“I’m still practicing”
“But”
“Jack she doesn’t want to” Zack said giving him a look and he calmed down,
“thanks” I smiled, Zack was calmer it was easier to talk to him, Jack was nice and could read me, plus I could talk to him but at times a calmer quieter person was easier to just hang out with,
“So how is she?” Alex asked
“Huh?” the guys asked
“She’s a fan, she knows I’m her uncle, I’m worried she could use her”
“Oh yeah, be careful” Zack said sounding worried
“She found out after, and anyway she hasn’t even asked to come over or anything, I think she would be to embarrassed” I said thinking about how she spoke she asked about them but never talked about her eventually meeting them like it would never happen,
“Oh give it more time if it stays like that then she should be ok, most people will be you just have to be careful there are weird people out there” Jack said trying to be serious again
“There are weird people in here” I smirked
“Hey behave” he laughed,
“She’s right” Alex laughed
“Anyway things seem ok” I smiled, Alex seemed to relax a little. We sat talking and eventually Jack walked over and sat next to me
“Hey you talking to me?” he laughed
“Yes” I sighed looking at him, he laughed and hugged me poking me in the side I hit him but laughed,
“Oh ash I have to go meet our manager tomorrow, you can invite your friend over if you want I will be back the latest of 5 and can meet her?”
“Alone?” I asked
“Yes”
“What?” Jack said sounding upset
“You are not going to be here” I said staring at him
“Why?” he said huffed
“You will embarrass me” I said simply
“When have I ever did anything to embarrass you?”
“Pick me up and tickle me?” I laughed
“Jack just do what she wants, you can meet her another day, I will tell you everything after” Alex said gently
“Fine” he said huffed, I got up and texted her asking her to come over, I talked to her a little then went to bed.
In the morning I woke up happy, got dressed and said bye to Alex, Laura told me she was on her way so I sat and watched TV, when she knocked I jumped up and answered the door,
“Hey” I said happy, she smiled and walked in,
“Wow this is a nice place” she said impressed, Alex’s house was big and he had made sure it was a fun and happy place, I showed her around,
“This is my room” I said she looked around
“this is so big you are so lucky” she smiled, I nodded my old room was tiny, I never felt comfortable having so much space, but Alex helped me find things to fill it, we walked out
“That’s Alex’s god knows what state it’s in so I’m not looking, and this is their practice room and that’s jacks, I wouldn’t even try looking in there!” I said opening the door to their practice room, there were a few guitars and a drum kit and loads of monster cans
“I thought it would be tidier, I’m not sure why” I laughed leaving and going back down to watch TV,
“By the way Alex will be back later, I think he wants to meet you, hopefully he will be alone” I said
“Why?” she laughed but she looked kind of glad like all of them would be too much,
“I told Jack not to come, he was being annoying last night and I didn’t want him being annoying and embarrassing, he didn’t like it so god knows what will happen, depends what Alex says to him really” I explained
“Is he that bad?” she laughed,
“he’s like the older brother I never wanted, we love each other but sometimes I wish he would leave me in peace, he’s not my brother, he’s not even family I just wish I had time alone to think” I shrugged not meaning to say so much,
“I guess that could get annoying, I’m an only child I don’t know how I would cope with that” she smiled, but I knew she didn’t understand, she would if she saw what I and Jack are really like,
“Anyway thought I would warn you as he might just turn up to check we weren’t doing anything bad, and if Jacks appears there may be an argument” I laughed
“ok fight away” she laughed, we talked about school, she talked about boys, I didn’t really notice boys right now but laughed and joked with her until we heard the door, she looked nervous, and I didn’t really want to talk to the guys,
“Ash?” Alex asked walking into the room,
“In here” I said turning around, I looked around, no Jack,
“Don’t worry I stopped him, he will bug you about it endlessly later but he understands” Alex smiled, Laura looked confused
“Jack, he tried to follow you didn’t he?”
“Yeah he’s probably in his car waiting a little to see if you will let him come in” Alex laughed, I glanced out and saw his car,
“Yep, idiot” I said under my breath, Alex laughed
“Anyway I’m Alex, her uncle, you must be Laura?”
“Yeah” she said looking embarrassed then Alex remembered she was a fan, his face changed and he smiled, we all talked for a while, and I was distracted waiting for Jack to leave
“Alex he still hasn’t gone”
“Just let him in” said he shaking his head
“But Laura”
“I’m ok with it” she shrugged Alex shrugged and texted Jack,
“Finally god, it took you long to come round” Jack said over dramatically walking in,
“Hey Laura I’m Jack, her favourite person” he smirked,
“Ha” I said rolling my eyes,
“What?” he said trying to look innocent?
“Embarrass me and die” I said ignoring his question making her laugh,
“Me embarrass you? When?”
“Yesterday, the day before? Always?” I said feeling a little annoyed already,
“You still complaining about that, if you whine about it again I will get you again” he smirked
“Ash ignore him, Jack she let you in don’t wind her up” Alex said rolling his eyes,
“Fine I’m sorry”
“What did he do?” Laura asked feeling left out
“This” Jack grinned
“Jack I said no” Alex warned making Jack stop, “fine all I did was tickle her”
“And wind her up all night”
“and he wonders why I didn’t want him to come” I said shaking my head he had gotten me wound up so easily, Laura laughed enjoying our little argument, we spent the rest of the day talking, once Jack had gotten over annoying me we had fun. Over the next few weeks I spent more and more time with Laura, we did less and less homework, and the teachers were starting to get annoyed, finally after forgetting my maths homework completely we both got detention for the next day,
“What am I going to do Alex will kill me” I said worried walking home
“Don’t tell him, say you are going to mine, or be vague say you are hanging with me?”
“but he has to sign the detention slip” I said panicking, I knew I was going to end up in trouble but when it happened I didn’t know what to do, Laura got in trouble a lot her parents didn’t mind too much, but Alex tried to keep me from getting like that, I sighed and went back to Laura’s for a while
“I better get some work done” I sighed
“Why?” she laughed
“If I keep this up and Alex finds out I’m going to be so dead” I sighed
“Come on, he’s lightened up on you he isn’t as bothered anymore”
“Still” I said uncomfortable,
“Do it later” she complained, I sighed and agreed.
