Remembering Tuesday

Yesterday was the most amazing day of my life. Not only did I get a standing ovation when I played, but I also got to meet my hero. Jack Barakat. I don’t think life could get any better at this point. Jack has been one of the biggest influences in my life. I wouldn’t be here today without him.


I decided to text Jack.


“Hi Jack! It’s Kylie.”

“The drummer that’s gonna beat Rian when you come play at ATL’s practice today? ;)”

“Well, I am the drummer, but there’s no way I could ever beat Rian. But ….practice?”

“Sure, whateve. And yes, practice. Roosevelt Rd. at 6? J pleaaaaase”

“Yeah. Totally!! Today is my day off so it’s perfect! :D”


I can't believe I'm about to hang out with my hero's. God. Life is good.

“Kylie!!!!! I’m so happy you came!” Jack said, sweeping me into a big bear hug.

“Totally! I’m so happy you invited me! Um, but Jack, could you let go please? I’m sorta suffocating.” I laugh.

He's so adorable. I could stay in those arms forever.


“Oh, yeah, sorry. Come meet the guys!” Jack says as he grabs my hand and pulls me into the next room.


“Everyone, this is Kylie, the drummer I was talking about!” Jack announced as I blushed, “Kylie, this is everyone.”

They're all standing before me. Holy shit. I can't believe this. I want to start crying. And hug each and everyone one of them. Show them how much they really mean to me.


“Hi! Nice to meet you, I’m Alex!” He says, while pulling me into a hug. “And this is Zack and Rian” Alex says, pointing behind him.

“Hey.” Zack and Rian say.

“Hey! Thanks for letting me come, your music is my biggest inspiration, it actually saved my life” I say.

“whoah, that’s awesome to hear. Will you play for us so we know how well we did?” Alex winks.

“I-I don’t know.. I’m not that good.”

“Ha. That’s a good one. Guys, she’s absolutely amazing. Now Rian, get off of your fat ass, and give Kylie the sticks, and Alex, could you set her up with a mic? Kylie, play Irony, please.”

“Okay.. If I have to..” I say,, sitting down.

“See. I told you she was absolutely amazing!!” Jack said.

“Rian, you better watch out” Alex laughs.

“Okay, that was really great Kylie! I am sorta scared.” Rian laughs.
