Sometimes, The Sickness is The Cure

Gave you my heart,
Wish we could start all over.
Nothing's makin' sense at all.

Alex unlocked the apartment, holding Jack’s hand as they went inside. The brunette was seething with rage, but trying his best to hide it. He sat Jack down on the couch and sprinted to the kitchen. The older man grabbed a small pot and added water to it. Letting it boil to prepare a chamomile tea for Jack.

While Alex was preparing this, Jack sat on the couch. He’d been emotionless for a while now. All the tears he wept were slowly drying around his eyes. He’d stopped crying not because he felt better, but his body couldn’t produce any more tears for him to shed at the moment. His chest ached while his head throbbed. Jack felt his right eye twitch. They’d be swollen for a while, it practically hurt. He spread his legs open and dropped his head. Trying to slow his breathing. A familiar routine the younger man was all too familiar with. He had a tendency to have a panic attack after crying. He’d begin to hyperventilate and his heart rate would rise abnormally fast. He breathed in and out as slow as he could. Looking at white carpeted ground. Remembering what Lisa had said to him moments ago.

Jack you don’t understand. I-I came back for you Jack. I need you back.

“Here, drink this.” Alex approached the younger man with a steaming mug. “This should help you calm down a little more.”

“Th-thank you.” The raven haired man breathed out.
Alex placed the mug on the solid black coffee table before them and sat next to Jack; rubbing his back in circles, looking at him as he began to weep softly. No tears were seen, but he was surely sad. The older man wrapped his arm around Jack bringing him closer, letting the younger man cry on his chest. Still rubbing his back softly and gripping his shoulder. Whispering softly “Let it out, I’m here”. The younger man was surprisingly feeling better. Before he’d met Alex, when he had his crying fits it would end with him drinking until he’d forget his own name. Intoxicating himself so badly that he’d wake up in someone else’s house with a girl he’d never met before lying right next to him, naked. Even though this scenario would probably lighten up anyone else’s mood, for Jack it was just a routine. Nothing special and nothing that would help him feel better in any way. Getting drunk and laid was more of a distraction for him, something to do instead of being depressed all day.

His situation was slightly different now. Instead of binge drinking and fucking a random bitch, he was here slowly weeping into the arms of some guy he’d met about a month ago. This guy came out of the blue and for some reason gave Jack some sort hope. How? He didn’t know. He just felt the fact that this guy named Alex was his reason to keep on living.

“Jack, she isn’t worthy of you. You’re such a wonderful person and for some reason she’d let you go thinking it was for the best. Truly, it was for the best. Because she doesn’t deserve a guy like you. I’m here for you Jack you’re my fri-“
The older man’s lecture was cut short when he felt two chapped lips pressed against his. Alex grabbed the younger man’s chin and deepened the sudden kiss. The brunette was feeling his heart race when the younger man’s tongue was begging to enter his mouth. He slacked his jaw, allowing Jack to lead them into this passionate kiss. There was something rather different about this kiss. Sure, Jack and Alex had kissed before, but they were both horny and needed to get off. But this one, felt needy in a different way. Jack pulled away and just stared at Alex with his swollen eyes, a smile slowly appearing on his saddened face. Alex smiled back, grabbing Jack’s face and rubbing his thumb over his cheek. This guy Jack was different from other people. He always wanted people to be happy, which is what made him happy. Trying to satisfy the needs and wants of someone he cared about. It was time for some one to return the favor to him.
“You’re such a wonderful person, remember that okay?” Alex looked deep into the younger man’s eyes.

“You’re the reason I feel like I’m a wonderful person. You help me feel that way Alex.” Jack removed the brunette’s hand from his cheek and kissed it lightly, looking back into his eyes. Alex felt his heart skip a beat or two. His face was burning red and he lost all of sense of speech when Jack once again, kissed him.

“Please don’t go to your room tonight. Stay with me.” Jack rested his head on Alex’s shoulder.

“I will Jack, if that will make you feel better.” He ran his fingers through the younger man’s dark black hair.

“Only if you want to.” Jack rubbed his face, mentally slapping himself.

“Of course I want to Jack, not only do I want you to feel better. But I mean it’d be fun sharing a bed with you.” The brunette smirked, trying to lighten up. All the pressure Jack felt in his head went straight to his crotch when Alex spoke those few words.

“If you say so.” The younger man yawned, finally taking the cool downed tea the older man prepared for him.

“Drink it, and take a shower. It’ll help you relax more if you do.” The brunette arose from the couch.

“Alex?” Jack gulped his sip of tea as the brunette walked towards his room.

“Yes?”

“Thank you. Really, thank you.” Jack placed the mug down.

“For what?” Alex smiled. “You don’t have to thank me Jack. I do this because I care about you.” He grinned.

Jack smiled back as he saw the older man disappear into the hallway.

He cares about me…

The next morning Jack awoke to a familiar scent. Alex’s hair was all over his face, and his arm were completely wrapped around his body. They were both in boxers and the room was very cold. So Alex groaned when he felt the warmth of Jack’s body leave him. They didn’t have to go to work till later in the afternoon, so the two men were stuck doing nothing until it was time for them to leave.

“Hey Jack?” Alex stretched, sitting up as he watched the younger man dress himself.

“Yeah?” He asked, pulling his close-fitting jeans over his thighs.

“Are you okay?” He arose from the bed and wrapped his arms around Jack’s small waist.

“Yeah, I feel a lot better. Thanks Alex. For everything.” He smirked as he turned to the older man, pulling him in for a light kiss.

“I’m going to get dressed okay?” Alex smiled walking towards the doorway.

“Wait.” He felt arms wrap around his waist. Jack pulled him in for a soft kiss. “You can go now.”

Alex only smiles again, a bigger smile this time. With the reason that Jack seemed his normal self. Something he thought he wouldn’t see for a while, yet he did. While he got dressed, Alex couldn’t stop thinking about the younger man. He’d only known him for a short time and he was developing feelings for him. He loved the way he smiled and the way he cared for others. Giving the fact the he was very good looking as well. He went to the living room, guitar in hand and found Jack plopped lazily on the black leather couch.

“What do you want to do today?” Alex tuned his guitar as he watched the younger man flip through a music magazine.

“I don’t know.” The boy shrugged.

“Maybe we should-“ Jack’s phone cut off Alex.

“Gimme a sec.” Jack said, answering his phone.

“Hey Vic.. Nah I’m fine. Yeah, thanks to Alex.” The younger boy smiled, stealing the chance to look at the older man. Who seemed to have ducked his head down blushing.

“Uh yeah. We’re not busy at all.” He looked back at the blushing man. “I’ll ask him. Call you later.” Jack hung up the phone and smiled.

“Vic asked if we could have a jam session with him. He wants to practice a song he wrote and his band mates aren’t around.” Jack sighed.

“Sounds like fun,” The brunette smiled. He was happy, maybe music would get Jack’s mind to ease up a bit.

“Yeah, you should practice with him.” Jack nodded happily.
“What about you?” Alex’s eyebrows furrowed together.

“Well, I don’t know. I haven’t touched a guitar in such a long time.” Jack shrugged.

“I understand Jack, don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with.” The brunette smiled reassuringly.

“You know what?” Jack smirked. “I’m a do it. I want to play."

“Really?” The older man smile grew wider.

“Yeah I mean, playing music is kind of fun.” Jack smiled back.
“Especially when you have a hot guitar player.” Alex winked, biting his lip suggestively.

Jack blushed, “Shut up.”

“It’s true.” Alex leaned in closer, pressing his lips softly against Jack’s, climbing on top of him and straddling him.

“We should stop. We’re gonna be late to Vic’s house.” Jack bit Alex’s lip, laying him on the couch.

“He can wait.” Alex smirked.
